How to Build a 1:3 Scale Room Diorama for Smart Dolls and Dollfie Dream! {Diorama Series Part 1}

- My Smart Dolls and Mini Dollfie Dream really need a room of their own, so let’s build a massive 1:3 scale room diorama out of inexpensive materials such as foam boards, paper, plastic, and other recycled materials! Part 1 features building the main structure of the room, but keep an eye out on my channel for future installments of the process featuring building furniture, decorating, and lots of fun and cute props.
P.S. I filmed all of this last summer, so it’s long overdue, but that’s why it’s clearly summer in the video and my hair was shorter than it is now, haha.

I love how when you're explaining your ideas the sentences end with "i just think it's cool" because sometimes I feel artists are expected to only have ideas with a lot of depth behind them but honestly "I just think is neat" it's so valid 😂

Future tip: use con-tact paper or shelf liner, like the stuff you line your cabnets with, on your walls. Con-tact paper comes in all different colors and patterns and in different sizes. Its wonderful for the use of doll house flooring or wallpaper. It's inexpensive and can easily connect 2 "walls" at thier 90 degree corner points. Thereby adding more reinforcement to the walls.
yesss this stuff works pretty well for bigger projects indeed. Extra plusses: You can clean it with a damp cloth and it doesn't loose color as easy as paper or paint in sunlight over time.
some times, when we're trying to realise our dreams, we have to make some concessions n compromises. but hey, as long as the dream comes to fruition, losing a couple panes of glass for the windows isn't too much, right?
it's good that you shared that part of the process too. that way other folks will be able to take heart and try doing things even if they seem like there are obstacles.

You made it so professionally, if I were to make it it would be made out of cardboard and hot glue
one tip for spray painting. never keep pressing the can like you both did here. you should go in strips while letting go at each end. that way you get a more even spray with less blobs. if you don't let go of the button then there will be blobs at each end. therefore leave a space between each board so there's room to have a bit of overspray to again avoid the blobs
yes! and for some brands of spray paint 3 or more coats are recommended for an even color!

This is so inspirational and I can't wait for part 2, along with any furniture videos you'll make! I'm going to be making some diorama displays for MLP soon :D I think printing some fanart to use as wall art would be cute!
Plywood works really well for these and as long as you (general you, not just the DollFairy) have sheets in the right size you can put them together just like this, no wood-wizarding required! They hold up a lot better, have a much less chance to warp and will last longer. Foamboard works well with 1/6 dollstuff like barbie but can break with larger sizes + time.

Love the idea ,but personally I would have done a living room and the table section.You can always add a layer for the bedrooms at a later date .That way the dolls are shown off at their best always ..Love the idea though 🥰

I think this is a great idea for a doll display. I'd love to make something like that in the future. I guess I'll figure out what to do with the inside depending on which dolls I want to be displayed. Definitely looking forward to part 2!

I just made a 2 story barbie house for my daughter. But I used cardboard. I stacked 3 cardboard making the floor more sturdy. And 2 for the walls.
A half second floor would allow light in and stabilise the structure x

I had used wood. I had them cut it down to size but it was hard to put together and cost 50. No roof. No holes for windows but I need to add some fake ones. I used contact paper for wallpaper. I'm working on rearranging them. And for other rooms I used cardboard and they didn't turn out well. So now I'm going to try foam.
