    Awesome video. But when you say "ACT" it means it bothers you, but you are just going to pretend it doesnt. We all need each other. deep down we all want to be understood. This was an issue between my wife and I. I However learnt that in everything there is always a solution, 5 years ago my wife and I were on the brink of a divorce because we were having some difficulties in our marriage but we are back together ,it was a really bad phase but we got through it..and now communicate better.

    "Man is not disturbed by events, but by the views he takes of them." - Epictetus

      Indeed, our interpretation of events can impact our emotional state more than the events themselves. It's a reminder to assess our thoughts and beliefs critically, as they shape our reactions. By shifting our perception, we can often change the emotional and psychological impact of what happens around us. This idea encourages us to look inward for peace and resilience, rather than at external circumstances.

      A combination of positive quotes like "it never rains forever" and "something good will come from this". Knowing certain quotes and applying them correctly is useful.
      Breathing techniques. Being aware of the breathe. Not breathing deeply is a sign of being out of alignment.
      Constantly reminding myself that tomorrow isn't promised makes me less emotionally attached to the outcomes I see.

    "Act as if you have control over your reactions, for that is where your true power lies." - Epictetus
    How do you maintain composure in challenging situations to wield your inner strength effectively?

    • @StoicismSanctuary-gw4gq
      @StoicismSanctuary-gw4gq  2 месяца назад +5

      Maintaining composure in challenging situations often involves a combination of awareness, perspective, and techniques such as deep breathing or mindfulness. It’s about recognizing that while you can’t control the situation, you can control your response to it. Pausing before reacting, reflecting on the consequences of your actions, and focusing on solutions rather than problems can also help in wielding your inner strength effectively. It’s a skill that can be developed with practice, often entailing a deliberate effort to remain calm and clear headed.

      Practicing composure is a daily endeavor. I start with morning meditation to set a calm tone for the day. Throughout the day, I take moments to focus on my breath, especially before meetings or difficult tasks. Reflecting on my actions each evening helps me learn and improve. It's a cycle of mindful practice and reflection. I hope this helps

    The ones that listen moves the world. The stoics and Epictetus left us a legacy worth listen to - and internalise as a mindset to meet tomorrow better equiped than we can ever wish for. It may seem hard to do, but if you dedicate your self to the core values inherent in these profoundly wise and timeless thoughts your life will be freed from a burden you didn't know you were carrying. It's all about work in progress to set us free. True listening is a choice. We can make it.

      Listening and learning from the past, particularly from philosophies like Stoicism as taught by Epictetus, is indeed a powerful tool for personal growth. It’s about actively engaging with these teachings, internalizing them, and allowing them to guide our actions and decisions. By doing so, we can equip ourselves for the future and relieve burdens we might not have even recognized we were carrying. This path of continuous improvement and mindful listening is a personal choice, a commitment to the journey of self-betterment.

      Living with someone and experiencing constant emotional involvement is indeed challenging. A stoic approach would suggest stepping back to observe these emotions without judgment, acknowledging them but not being ruled by them. Remember that while you cannot control the feelings that arise, you can control how you respond to them. Aim to cultivate tranquility, practice patience, and engage in open, honest, and compassionate communication while maintaining your personal well being.

    How do you react to what goes against your moral belief, but finances “encourage” acceptance?

    • @StoicismSanctuary-gw4gq
      @StoicismSanctuary-gw4gq  Месяц назад +1

      When faced with a situation that goes against your moral beliefs but offers financial incentive, it's a deeply personal decision on how to respond. Some might choose to stand by their principles despite financial loss, reflecting on the importance of integrity and long-term peace of mind. Others may rationalize the compromise for various reasons, potentially seeking to balance the immediate benefits with their moral discomfort. It’s a classic dilemma where the resolution often requires introspection and a clear understanding of one’s values and long-term goals.
