    Our Ford has a weird size tire as well. Ripped the side wall too and no one but the Ford dealership had the size.😮🤔
    Good luck with your tire search. Great looking truck by the way. 👍

      Sorry to hear it, but in this case, not even the dealership could help .

    Catching up on some of your older vlogs. The reason there is so much room under the hood is to accommodate the dual turbo ecoboost V6 you get in the truck outside of the Philippines.

    I’ve got a couple of years before I retire and build a house in Subic Bay. I am not former military so I researched based and found I could establish an account with State Department Federal Credit Union they claim same thing I can purchase a vehicle in the Philippines and get my loan through them at US rates. However, I have found them to be horrible to deal with for even a credit card. So, my son is a retired Gunnery Sgt. and he is going to let me use his connection to establish with Navy Federal Credit Union. This was all thanks to your previous video. I was all set looking at a Toyota Hilux, but I might rethink that based on your experience with the Ranger.
    Thanks for your videos. One day when I do move to Subic I hope to meet you and thank you personally.

      Hey Mark! Congrats on your impending retirement here. You will love Subic! If I am not mistaken, you might be able to get an NFCU account simply for having a son that is serving. Membership is open to Active, Guard, Reserve, Retired and family members. Just not 100% on what family members are included. Should be easy to find out. NFCU has been wonderful. They just sent me a Platinum CC with Zero yearly fees, no international transaction fees and an interest rate half the amount of any of my other credit cards. Your going to love working with them. I don't think a decision to purchase a Hilux is a bad one, they have a great reputation here. What I will say is the vehicles that are sold here are built in Malaysia and when I test drove several of their models here, I left with the impression that they are just not built to the same standards as the Japanese or US assembled vehicles are. Your going to think this is nuts, but when I closed the doors on those vehicles, it sounded cheap to me. Crazy that the sound a door makes can leave someone with that impression. . The Wildtrak however, built in Thailand, just feels and sounds solid in every regard. Either way you go, I bet you will be pleased brother! Absolutely, when you get to Subic, let us know and we can meet up at Texas Joe's in Subic. One of my favorite places to eat here in the Philippines!

      Hey Rick I did go a setup an account with Navy Federal credit Union. It was so easy I could not believe it. There was an credit union office nearby in Laurel MD and a wonderful young lady got me taken care of in less than 30 minutes

    Sorry to hear about the tire damage and the issues surrounding the different tire/and rim size. So given that you and so many of us are unaware of the things we take for granted in the US, that happens there, I wonder if your seats are truly Leather. You do remember they can make it so realistic looking that you often can't tell easily by just and Ocular examination, they use that term Ocular in the Philippines often. Check to make sure your seats are indeed Leather and not what we used to call Pleather back in 90's. The takeaway for all of us, based on the revelation you have brought to light is Trust but verify. Your Headlights maybe what is termed HID lights in that they are LED and they put out High Intensity beams. Wonderful technology that keeps you safe. Now if we could get the rest of the Philippine travelling public to at least use headlights when it gets dark we would all be so much safer. The turning of the headlights have been around for a while but is most popular in some higher end vehicles. You have got a solid vehicle and I would say don't keep your new vehicle more than say 10-12 years. Keeping it beyond a hundred and say twenty thousand is around the point where the high Tech items will start to fail then you will face the challenge of how to get it fixed reliably and properly from the dealer or some repair shop.

      Good info brother Charles! Not sure I would know the difference, but they billed as Leather and they sure smell like leather, so hopefully yes. The call the headlight tech C Clamp LED's. The individual LED"s that make up the headlight itself, are all individually controlled by the sensors and computer. Crazy stuff, but I like it! I wish it was a requirement to have them to use the Toll roads, no one ever dims their high beams on the Toll roads, no matter how often you flash them. I always come home with a headache after driving here at night. We average about 2,000km per month so about 20 to 24,000km per year, so I will reach 120,000km in just 5 years. Hopefully you were talking about miles and not kilometers. But I definitely want to bail before stuff starts going haywire! Always love seeing your comments Charles! Thanks for watching Brother!

    Thanks for sharing. BTW US DOT front windshields have anti shatter. Since yours is a Ford, do they have the same anti shatter windshield? Or all vehicles in the world are made with the safety windshields.

    • @rickeybaker9066
      @rickeybaker9066 Год назад

      Not familiar with "anti shatter", but if you are referring to safety glass that breaks into thousands of tiny pieces when impacted during a crash, then yes it does.

    Did the insurance replace the tire? I believe it's covered. I had a different accident but the insurance replaced the damaged tire.

      Honestly Garry, I didn't even call them. But you are probably correct, I believe they might. Not sure with deductible if I would have come out much ahead, but it won't hurt to ask brother! Gracias!

    Why not just upgrade all the tires to an common off road tire since the roads there are less than desirable

    • @rickeybaker9066
      @rickeybaker9066 Год назад

      It's a good idea Joe, but my nature is to get all I can out of what I already have. So once I either drive the other three about 50,000km or destroy each and everyone of them, then I will look at going to 4 All Terrain tires and maybe even some 20 inch rims!

    Is there a reason you went with a Ford over the Toyota?Just wondering on parts availability.

    • @rickbaker0217
      @rickbaker0217  Год назад +1

      For me Paul, it came down to the feel for me. I had decided that the Ranger or the Hilux would be my two choices and I spent time researching both. When it actually got down to hands one research, the Ranger won for me, Hands Down. The Hilux just felt and sounded cheaply built to me. I had a Toyota Tacoma in the states and loved it, but the Hilux was built in Malaysia and it just did not feel or sound like my Tacoma. The Ranger on the other hand, built in Thailand, just felt and sounded solid as a rock to me. So, very unscientific explanation, but you asked .

    Buy all 4 all terrain as they stronger also you must have turned off the sensors as I have a wildtrak and where I park there’s helps of pipes sticking out of ground at two inches. And my truck always lets me know every time

    • @rickbaker0217
      @rickbaker0217  Год назад

      You are right Daniel, the truck does a great job of letting me know of anything around the truck. I suppose it was just all circumstance related. It's Fiesta, construction in the area, a lot of scooter and tricycle traffic near the market and very little room to maneuver the pickup. The alarm did go off and the cameras did come on, but the pipes were hidden from my view by dried weeds that were the same color as the rusty pipe. I just thought it didn't like me being that close to the structure that was built out into the road. You can bet I am much more observant now!
