At the Chicago Processing Center, I was inspired to make sure all my shoeboxes and fillers have Love Letters because I experienced joy whenever I saw Love Letters in the boxes I was inspecting. Seeing a personal note in a shoebox caused my heart to jump for joy! How much more will a child feel excitement when they see a personal note and photo written just for them?

We Recommend starting now for 2022 Shoeboxes because there's so much we can accomplish when we use our time and energy throughout the whole year! It's exciting to think of all the children around the world that we can reach with the Gospel through Operation Christmas Child!
*TIP: We always recommend following the leading of the Holy Spirit when packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and writing Love Letters. Take your plans to the Lord on a regular basis and ask him to provide so you can pack shoeboxes that will glorify him and help inspire the child who receives it to receive Jesus Christ as Lord when the Gospel is presented at the event.
Are you interested in an eternal relationship with Jesus Christ? Believe in Jesus, admit you have sinned and ask him to forgive your sins. Trust in Him and receive him as your Savior. Read all about God in the Bible, starting in Genesis with creation to understand God and sin and the punishment for sin. Also, read the New Testament to understand what Jesus did, so that we could have forgiveness and redemption from sin. The Bible reveals God's plan for his children and the world. It tells us that Jesus will come soon for his children and we get to live forever with him! We are blessed to have the Bible so we can know all about him.
I am very glad I can participate with Operation Christmas Child to bring the good news of Jesus and eternal life to the children around the world who have never heard about him. We are making a difference for eternity!

What are the most important things to add to your shoeboxes? Kristi Graham recommends several items after experiencing a recent distribution--backpacks, water bottles, and soccer balls.

Yves Dushime (see blessingsinashoebox.com for a link to his video) recommends school supplies, a personal note and also soccer balls. We're trying to include all of those items in our shoeboxes this year!
Don't forget to make Love Letters for all your shoeboxes AND fillers! We were inspired by Yves Dushime who praises God for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift he received when he was 11 years old living in Togo. It was the first gift he ever received, and God used it to help turn his heart from hatred to love. The note in his shoebox changed the course of his life!

I always add my letters right before drop off week. I check on all my boxes one last time, add or change things and when I add the letter it feels like sealing it with love. But I print out my letters. I do them with Canva, I upload a new family foto each year and sometimes I make changes in the text that I make in English and Spanish and then I add graphics like gifts, angels etc.. I know its not a unique letter, but it doesn't feel impersonal. I print the letter on one half, so that I can fold it and then I place my hand on the empty half to contour it. I like to think of it as greeting, that no matter what language the child speaks, it will understand that gesture and might put its hand on my hand.

Question for you, where do you get your shoeboxes? Do you use the ones from Samaritan's purse or do you buy from stores if so what size? This will be my first year working on boxes all year long.
I only use both styles of the shoeboxes from Samaritan’s Purse. The plastic ones are great because they can be used for a storage container and will last a long time. The cardboard shoeboxes are very sturdy. I use them too. Both are nearly identical in the amount they hold. The plastic ones are more expensive, but, like I said, longer lasting. Order online and they will ship you the boxes. I’m thrilled you’re starting to pack year round! Thank you for telling me. 🥰

Thank you very much, Tracy! I appreciate the prayers. We’re struggling with a sick dog. She’s 2 going on 3 years old and was diagnosed with Lyme disease over 6 weeks ago. She’s not getting better and it’s very stressful and sad to see her in so much pain and not able to do her normal activities. The Lord must know we need extra prayer and called on you. Thank you very much. I have been able to write many love letters as we traveled on vacation. It’s been a positive experience in the midst of this trial. Thank you for all your prayers!

I love this addition to the shoeboxes! I also like that you are using postcards and slipping them into a protective sleeve. I’m imagining the bold feeling the love when the letter is read to them and then they can hang on to it as a reminder of the unconditional love from a stranger. In God’s name. ♥️
It's such a good idea to get going on those. I often wait until the last minute to add my note. Not this year!
