Wo-Chien may be the worst at winning battles, but he is the best at winning my heart.
hard agree, these designs went so hard this gen, wo chien has to be one of my favorite mons altogether, design-wise.
he's right up there with my favorite little idiots (clodsire and cetoddle), and my gay dancing duck (quaquaval)
I concur. An ancient historical writings autumn snail is concerningly well targeted at me, so it currently holds my top spot for favourite Pokémon (though Terapagos may change that within the same generation).

@@howdyfriends7950 fellow quaquaval appreciater 👍
Wo-chien actually has a niche next to Ting-lu, with its access to pollen puff/leech seed/ingrain/foul play and with both abilities reducing atk and spa respectively they both become quite difficult to remove from the field
first ever pure stall set in vgc
except now you have two pokemon that are both weak to ice, fighting, bug and fairy. Fluttermane Chi-yu eat that combo alive. Same with anything with u-turn just one shotting Wo-chien.
Yeah but like the comment above me said, both of them being weak to 2/9 of all types is pretty harsh to go through. Especially with popular spread moves of those types that are spammable like Flutter Mane's Dazzling Gleam and Iron Bundle's Blizzard, although rarer than the other one
Amoongus, but it's typing is 4× worse.
Amoongus:
Ting-Lu doesn't even need fissure for the spicy stomping tantrums, sand tomb and stone edge both miss plenty often and have massive utility as well
Ironically of the four only Wo-Chien gets stab knock off. Because of so many physical dark types being without knock off this gen, i genuinely wonder what gamefreak thinks the criteria for having knock off is.
Fr, would he be using a vine to knock off something? Actually doesn’t even make sense for him to get it
@@Yethegoat10meanwhile Weavile can’t have sh*t 😭
The only reason chien pao didn’t get knock off is because it would be too good
Game freak just thought it would be funny
I think it's a crime that Ting-Lu doesn't get knock off.
Live Wo-Chien Reaction
“Wo-Chien is the worst new legendary Pokémon.”
*Refuses to elaborate and leaves.*
"Wo-Chien is the worst of the 4 legendary Pokemon" one of the most accurate sentences said in history
Honestly it’s pretty sad, cause Wo-Chien is a dope design, but then again all the beasts of ruin are as well
@@theboi5584 treasures or ruin

Are you from braking bad
People often fight about which Ruins are the best mons. But everybody can agree that Wo-Chiens are the worst.
I really like the fire goldfish. It's just hard for me to try to build a team around Chi-Yu when I also like slapping Skeledirge on my teams.
Skeledirge seems like a neat concept to put the opponent in a lose/lose situation:
Either they can take out the goldfish who brutalizes everything immediately
Or they can take out the fire crocodile who quickly spirals out of control
I would say it's Ting-Lu for me, as its the most versatile (defensive/fissure set or choice band offensiv set). I especially like it in combination with skill swap medicham and choice band.
I've played around Chi-Yu and Chien-Pao by out speeding them or surviving hits but Ting-Lu is definitely harder. I got swept by a tera fairy and it makes me sweat just seeing it in team preview.

Better to be a god in a lower tier than be bad in a higher tier
-Lando T to Wo-Chien
All these comments complaining about the design making no sense or "weird ass Chinese names having no place in Spain-inspired region" yet none of you seem to even have played the game. Or I guess you didn't take the history classes and didn't bother with catching the Trasures of Ruin quartet. I'll amuse anyone who doesn't understand:
A travelling merchant brought four tresures (a sword, prayer beads, a vessel and wooden tablets) from a far away country (and we know there are Eastern-Asian inspired regions in Pokemon - just look at Kanto and Johto) to Paldea. The king bought them but over the time the greed of humanity corrupted the treasures, leading to the birth of these Pokemon - that's why they're Dark type. Chien-Pao is the sword, broken in half. Chi-Yu is the six prayer beads. Ting-Lu is the vessel that's now cracked. And Wo-Chien is the tablets, with the original inscriptions being unreadable anymore.
They brought ruin to people so they had to be sealed away. Their Pokedex entries state just what kind of cataclysms they bring. And even if someone still doesn't like their "too Chinese" names, I still recommend looking up just where exactly they came from because they perfectly utilise the multiple phonetic meanings of the words used in the names.
I think they work in the exact same way the Guardians of Alola worked - their names not being a simple mash of english/german/spanish/french/japanese words but giving these mystery and a sense of something a tier higher than other Pokemon.
I've actually ran Wo-Chien in a few locals and online competitions too. I know people usually run a stall set with Leech seed, etc. But my set was Knock Off/Light Screen/Reflect/Pollen Puff with leftovers.
Since it stayed on the field long enough without much to do, it could reset the screens whenever it wanted so light clay wasn't needed. Plus by the time it set up screens again, it was basically out the door so the rest of my team got the screens for 5 more turns instead of 3 (roughly). I ran a special attacking team with Hatterene and Pollen Puff pretty much ensured it could keep sweeping. Plus it does surprisingly good damage, along with the fact that Tablets of Ruin made everyone ELSE'S attack drop, so Knock Off could clean up some kills too.
I think Wo-Chien's versatility is vastly underrated IMO
I mean Ting-Lu can probably live a nuclear explosion, so you could argue for it being the best.
On doubles definitely ting-lu, but in singles chi-yu

Wolfey's next video is probably gonna be like "I brought a snail to a tournament and became the champion".
When I first saw these Pokémon‘s come out I thought they were just add-ons I didn’t think they were legendarys because of how they don’t have really bright colors and don’t stick out as other legendarys do
swords dance chien pao has brought me super high on the ubers ladder
I'll be honest, Wo chien is probably becoming one of my favorite pokemon. It being in the field is a constant intimidate, it immediately shuts down physical attackers. And dark grass can be exchanged for electric which not steel is better in this case since you are just really avoiding the super effective moves. At which point free switch in to a flying type
Wo Chen is best in my heart
I love Wo-Chien's design, but I can agree that it's not good in competitive unless it's a very specific situation
Can’t wait for them to release an event shiny Chi-Yu. Not only is it the best of the group it also looks the best.
"Wo-Chien is the worst" That sounds like a challenge.
My honest reaction when Wo-Chien: 🗿
You could make a case for chien-pao or chi-yu. They’re both amazing. Houndoom and Weavile respectively are just flat out outclassed by these treasures of ruin.
Spark notes: two of them kill everything, the other two can’t die.
The Fissure Tantrum Ting-Lu literally broke competitive for a while

@@sptflcrw8583 You didn't get the joke, right? Basically I'm saying he doesn't have to stay bad, there is plenty of Pokemon that were not so great first but became great later because of how the meta evolves, buffs/nerfs and what the dex offers. Take Murkrow for example. No other Pokemon can fill Murkrows spot right now so people are using him and do so to great success. Once we get a dex expansion, things will change. Possibly a little to Wo-Chiens favor as well.

“Hey honey, i am legal now!”
Ting-Lu's name gives me instant PTSD
I love Ting Lu, no i do not use fissure. I love its design, ability ans stats
I like Chien-Pao. Obviously, it can learn swords dance, plus it's ability and speed. But mostly, I like it because it's a ferret made of snow that plays in avalanches, and I get to say Chien-POWW!!
Legendary back then- a very powerful dragon ,God of time and space, guardian of sea
Legendary now- motor go brrrrrr, *FISH*
Wo-chien may be friend-shaped, be he ain't Ubers-shaped.
Love how he says legal like this is a fighting rink
Chien Pao gave me such PTSD when it was in smogon OU that it HAS to be the best to me
Chi-yu was the first of the 4 I found without looking things up so it has a soft spot in my heart
Chi-yu sweeps and it’s adorable and terrifying at the same time
Wo-Chien is unironically one of my all time favourite pokemon.
I like chi yu because F I S H
Correction: Leech seed ingrain gigadrain leftovers and it’s over. Set up toxic spikes then watch as they slowly perish
These are some truly godawful designs
Can you make a video showcasing each of them in a team?
My bets are on Ting-Lu since it practically has the special version of intimidate, can set up hazards and can threaten both of the offensive legendaries (Chi-Yu and Chien-Pao) since it can not only tank the crazy amount of damage Chien-Pao and output (to some degree) but it can also land super effective damage on Chi-Yu with its solid attack stat + vessel of ruin, in my opinion Ting-Lu is the best for doubles while Chi-Yu and Chien-Pao are better in singles although I feel like any of the 3 are great choices for a competitive team
Obviously Shuckle is the best legendary.
Wo-Chien maybe the worst, but he is the coolest.
Wo chien and Chi Yu have elite designs
I’ve been using Chi-Yu + Abomasnow, Iron bundle, and some others. I thought I had something somewhat unique but I saw a few other people had the exact same idea as me lmao
Chien-pao is so beautiful
Honestly I would say in doubles it’s Ting-Lu as it’s the one that doesn’t really have any immediate counters and it’s power overtime is quite slept on
also the fact it’s the first Pokemon ever to make a one hit KO move viable just goes to show it’s staying power
I just want to curl up with chien-pao radiating cool air on a hot day while eating sherbet. Is that so wrong?
All I can say is that the process to unlock the caves or whatever they’re called to battle each one, was so unnecessarily tedious. When you got to the last one of a particular one, it was like hell trying to find it.
These are the only pokemon that I forget their name
I cant believe a goldfish hits harder than god.
The animals sound "DANGEROUS"❤
Dread it, Run from it, Fissure still arrives!
- Tingos Lu
Wo-Chien just needed time to be appreciated.
They also, much like other side legendaries, have one of the most banging themes in all of pokemon
Wo Chien honestly doesnt seem bad at all tho. Ive been putting it on slower grindier teams and its been incredible.
The fact that 100 is a middling speed stat is the most power creeped sentence I've ever heard
The agency investors are not pleased with this agent Chien slander! And moxie is crying seeing this
Ting-Lu is my favorite to use, it works great on the balance team I use. And don’t worry, I’m not running Fissure or Palance.
It's funny watching this in retrospect
honestly chein-poe is gonna be crazy if you can use zaceon when home opens up
Wo chien is actually surprisingly good on vgc. Being a grass and dark type has advantages. Ive seen some pretty awesome sets like eject leaf storm which catches people off guard
I know chi yu is not as viable but I love its design and its damage with lava plume is fun when you catch your opponent off guard.
I will always stay on my opinion. Silly cute fish.
If there’s anything I fully agree on, it’s the grass types placement on the totally 100% tier list
wo-chien's live reaction to this information:
Don't do my boi WOAH-Chien dirty like that 😢
Wo-chien is personally my favourite, it’s bad competitively but I love the design.
Lmao, love that 100 base speed is "middling". Ah pokemon.
i would say chi-yu it has a great type really good coverage moves and monstorous special atk
I think that all four legendaries are pretty cool! It's hard to choose a favorite!
Its pretty hard to believe that these are legendaries, maybe I'm just old but I remember legends being large and intimidating, with the occasional cute little dude that did crazy stuff
Wo-chien might not fight well but I love its design best 😤
I'm not a comp expert but when I was looking for the best Pokémon to use to catch Iron Leaves I decided that it was either Chien Pao or Ting Lu, I'm happy to see that I was almost right among those four (I ended up using kingambit anyways)
After it's terror on OU I will never not hate the Feesh😂
wo chien is actually not that bad, especially next to glimmora and stuff, pollen puff and leech seed are really valuable and with tera poison it's kinda hard to take down
Chi-Yu, it’s unimaginably strong, it was literally quick banned from OU.
That's ou, vgc and ou have many many differences
Think this is mainly speaking VGC, Chi-Yu sometimes strugges if it can’t remove both pokemon before they attack as it isn’t very bulky. But your opinion is definitely still valid
@@hugoshires5162 still, it literally has an effective base SpAtt stat of 197. Which is higher than Mega Mewtwo Y and Chi-Yu can still have an item.
Only Kyrogre or the primal version is stronger than it when using Water Type moves, and if the Chi-Yu is specs only Specs Kyogre using water moves is stronger, and Specs Miraidons electric moves aswell.
The biggest difference is that Chi-Yu has the highest power without a condition and with a great stab combination of Fire and Dark, and it’s speed isn’t even all that bad it’s base 100 which is very respectable.
@@NocturnalPyro vadid, but that said power hardly means if it can be removed effectively by the prominent FAAP core. In natdex ubers, its also only at c+ tier viable, still under the likes of mega mewtwo X and Ferrothorn of all things. That is because of how one-dimensional and unflexible it is. But hey, at least its better than reshiram
@@Gspoink yeah but VGC is not Nat Dex Ubers. There’s no Mega’s or Dynamax in VGC.
I’ve used all of them, I’ve had huge success with scarf chi-yu.
I like running Chien-Pao, it synergieses well with Palafin and counters Ting well.
My favorite one is Wo-Chien
I think for a aggressive team that Chi-U and Dragapult would be a amazing set up and sweep duo
This aged well lol. Chien pow is just so busted and the others are just ok
Imagine being a literal God and having created the universe only to have less sp. attack than a goldfish.
i dont care if wo-chien is bad hes easily my favourite of the four.
Ting-ku has probably the best stat distribution (considering his ability, but also in general) of all the Pokémon
It'd be fun if wo shen pulls up a Zamacenta next game
Nobody running the sand tomb ruination set on Ting-Lu it’s fire is all I can say
I use wo-chien setups way more than i use ting-lu. Wo-chien is defo underrated
I love Wo-chiens funny design
