This was a beautiful house at one time. Iv'e been inside many times. There was a foundation to save it, but sadly the man who was really the force behind that, my step-father Dale Skillicorn passed away a few years ago, and efforts just seem to have faded away. I never felt it was haunted. It always felt welcoming to me.
Unless theres proof i wouldnt call it haunted. But it could be even if its welcoming. Not all "spirits" are evil. Or maybe juzt wasnt evil towards You...
The fund raising started back in the mid 70's. I remember the cheerleaders at WHS asking everyone to "save the Redmond house". There were car washes and other various events with the proceeds going for the restoration. Countless thousands have no doubt been donated. Over the years myself and many others have wondered 2 things. (1) Where did all that money go? (2) Why wasn't Skillicorn ever held accountable and locked in prison for theft?
There have been many fund raising drives over the years where individuals and businesses have donated to the restoration of the house. First drive I remember was when I was in high school back in 1977.. My question is, where has all that money gone?
I've never heard credible stories of "haunting" at the Redman-Hirahara house. It IS historically significant, for several reasons, and it breaks my heart to watch it continue to slowly decay. By the way, not all Asians are "Chinese." The house was sold be the Redman family to the Hiraharas and was occupied by family members until the relocation of Japanese-American families to internment camps in WWII. After the war the Hirahara family afforded temporary shelter there to other Japanese-Americans returning to the Pajaro Valley from the camps who had no homes to go back to. There's an excellent, if brief, history on Wikipedia here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redman_Hirahara_Farmstead
I'm native online.this House is built on a burial site many people know of this that is why it can't be livable.that is the truth of this.... just as much as the marine lab in moss landing where the water tower 🗼 once Sat and we Also know the story of that . My grand mother said she's heard stories about this house on Lee Road I've also remember while I was passing by it with you coming back to prundale. That was the house my grandmother spoke about.she said stay away from that place .it's on an Indian Burial ground Patrick also says of this.thats why it can't be lived in.when the spirats are active it said they'll touch you pull your hair or push you.my mom says stay out of that house cuz if you fall and get hurt no one can help you The floor can give way.and you can be spird by a Peace of Sharp wood. No one gets near that.house. I see they have care takers on site..... that keeps people safe.....

Every time they try to restore the house, the workers get haunted and leave the place
