Ozrics played a great set and then The Orb played afterwards, illuminating the night sky as a whole field tripped out on mushrooms (in my tripped out mind on an eighth of shrooms and loads of whizz, skinning up a joint in each hand simultaneously 😎, spliff miracles) A great era of music and a great time to be alive. Genuinley felt we were on the cusp of a revolution.
I was there too. Stereo MCs were on before Ozrics and Orb. What a fantastic night it was! Another highlight was Dr. Didge playing on the pyramid stage early one morning. Great times.
@@championsoundrecords No way? DR DIdge played the main stage at Glasto. I have a bunch of his albums from an old head I know. I had no idea he was that big back then. That's amazing. Luv and Peace.
I was there too, saw them, bought Jurassic Shift CD. Next winter I went to Goa and rest India for a few month time still listening to it .This travel is connected with their music. Great times !
Just to clarify, obviously his fans hold him in high regard but in the guitar press both online and magazines I’ve seen very few articles about him or references to his playing, his gear or anything else.
Very late the night before this set they played in a tent to about 20 people. Tripping away nicely on dynamite acid I asked the bloke next to me who the band was. he turned with t slow grin and said "The Ozrics man!" Very powerful band.
+adam saunders Incredibly jealous. I've been a fan for 10 years now. I first heard them on my very first acid trip. It was incredible. I can't even begin to imagine being there and experiencing that.
Hawkwinds first album on my first trip. was my dads, had been listening to it for a while but took on another dimension on acid, and yeah it was pretty special. was listening to the orb and Ozrics a lot at the time so to see them both with head full of acid with big golden sun setting behind the stage was very special.
I think I saw them in 89 not sure if it was them, but they weren't on any of the stages just at the side of the road. No band I've heard similar to this day is the Ozrics, surely it was them?
Haha me too man! - it was 'Purple Ohms' on this young fools menu, if memory serves.... (it.... occasionally does) XD I think *Rage Against The Machine* kicked serious arse in '93 glasto as well, I mean really tore it up, as good as *Nirvana* the year before (@ Reading 92) just after the great black wind through the bones that was *Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds,* in that period .....Tempus Fugit, and all that. -Peace
As for the Orb I remember they did a super laid-back set in '93 (which messed with my more 'Hardcore heavy' mates - .....didn't stop me and the rest from jumping around like lunatic seaweed) - I think the Orb played right after Stereo MCs that year? (whom I also liked , being the Manc I am - plus owning ears, etc) - Thanks for getting me remembering :D - I had NO idea ANY of this stuff was on YT.... Nearly 25 years ago!! Tell me, does that not blow your fuckin' (old, really old) mind?? Un-be-lievable. O_o
Was lucky to see them in '94 @ Fox Theater in Boulder, CO (1st US tour?), honored to hang a bit with Ed backstage and talk to him about his prized Ibanez Artist model... (really awesome guitars before hey went 'all-metal') and again in Boulder several years later. Good times to be had by all!
whoa! Awesome how cool, the second bit is Jurassic Shift I saw them a half a year later at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles just before Merv and Joie left.... Ill never forget them doing Jurassic Shift: It was so awesome watching Ed switch back and forth from Keyboard to guitar

@KeithHarbaugh well there s John of course,Ed on guitar,Joey Hinton on keyboards,Merv Pepler on drums,Steve Everett on bass, and there s a guy behind Ed if you ve noticed playing some percussion...Him i dont know...:))
Over there you have the Levellers here we have the revellers. A great Glastonbury, I remember Glastonbury when it was all fields. Take this trip, its in two halves. Famous last words from the tent next to me. On comes the Ozrics, its all a bit vauge after that.
love ozrics to bits, as theyre very special in my life, but theres a slight resemblance of 'ed wynne' to 'colin grigson' type in ''bad news - warriors of genghis khan'' and watch!
he he he , i was there too , had sum shithot acid and some really rude speed, every folical on my head had pins and needles||| was most odd , maybe had a touch of sunstroke too , but it was all a bit hazey :-)_ fuckin good set and an awsome festival . love it love it love it.
Merv absolutely killing it, phenomenal drumming. Amazing kick and snare sound... was this a FOH mix or separate split for a live recording (I'm guessing the latter given that it was a televised show, and given that you can't hear the flute... someone in the back who can mix drums like a boss but doesn't know the band)
I was there, amazing! They did another gig for free on the Glastonbury site. I prefer the earlier line up. But they are still amazing today. It would be nice to know what John and the others are up to these days,
Awesome footage. This was back when the Ozrics were a great rock band! Still love them, but they're a bit too techno these days. Still cool though. Jon needs to fix his unibrow.
That's a proper old youtube comment right there. Merv and Joie left soon afterwards to do Eat Static full time. I loved Eat Static but for me them leaving robbed the Ozrics of something they never really got back. Generator Jon leaving at around the same time was also a serious hit to the sound. I do think Waterfall cities was an amazing achievement but for me it's the last of the older sounding Ozrics albums. Since then it's far more of an Ed Wynne solo effort with a very capable band around him. Still amazing but it does lack the random spontaneity of the earlier band when he was surrounded by similar talents and egos pulling in different directions. Luv and Peace.
Same here...remember trying to eat a white bread roll, but there was sod all inside it...was thereby named 'Airey Bread' Watching I dunno 60 odd Digeridoos freaking out together was as Jimi would say "Outta sight man, outta sight "
First time i saw this amazing band was at glasto 95 on the main stage, think john was wearing a hecium sack with holes cut out for his arms and his head lol.. They were a proper band back then and turned up and played for free at soo many festivals during the 90's.... Harvest Fayre Festival 96 i think it was,,,,barely any bands showed up cos the security guards fucked off after the travellers pulled all the fences down and basically took over haha...stood in one tent for an entire day first band to show up and play for free was kangaroo moon, followed by revolutionary dub warriors, then Zion Train played an amazing set and then the Ozrics finally showed up and jammed until the early hours under a thick fog of skunk smoke and nag champa....all for free!! Can't see 'em doing that nowadays but they're not the same band now.
It's "Hessian sack" good sir....Just fyi :) - The Ozrics played in the middle of the days HOT sun that year? Am I remembering that right? To be fair to 'em (about how ' they're not the same band now') his whole house burned down couple of years ago, with *everything* inside it (in a huge forest fire, while they were away on tour) ...So I imagine he may NEED some money.
Way to ruin the show from 1:59 to 3:40 something! I can understand maybe some " go live & talk to people in the crowd" stuff, but DO IT AFTER THE MUSIC, NOT DURING IT!!
The drum and bass sound is unbelievable. Ed is a genius. Has Brandy(bass now) the same technically skills than other Ozric members on bass? I think she is very good. But is she a monster on bass? In a positive sense. and... Hope for a new release in the time to come.
She had the best asset above all bass players that passed from the band and Zia here. She was Ed s girlfriend...Now that she isnt anymore, will she stay in the band? time will tell...
Christos Miles Thanks for telling me. I honor your message. Sad story. Waited for the next release of a record. Time will tell.Right. Hope the best. Peace!

Best British band ever. Been my fave band since someone played a tape in 6th form common room back in 86. Still going strong in 2021...cheers Ed!
You have just become someone to respect.Year 1986 til Now is very awesome. How many cassette copies You owned before bought CDs?? Thank you
Outstanding band, still love them now 🙏🏻
very good......................................................

Ed Wynne has to be the most forgotten and underrated guitarist ever.
Not forgotten & highly rated by me .
Not forgotten. He's still making music and gigging.
If you know what's what it's obvious what an amazing musician/guitarist he is.
Just to clarify, obviously his fans hold him in high regard but in the guitar press both online and magazines I’ve seen very few articles about him or references to his playing, his gear or anything else.

Life is better because of Ozric.
Thank God for Ed Wynne
