Thanks Scott!!!! Thats a great quicky tutorial, that has made me aware of a lot of capabilities I was not aware of in ProcMon and ProcExp. Wish you would creates some more great tutorials.
I always hear about the awesome tools on the BSDs for this type of thing (and to be fair, I'm pretty sure they are still superior to this) but it's great to really see the windows versions of stuff.
This is a good video but you go too fast, click on icon to icon (don't say what they do and too fast to see); mouse is too fast, "go back over here (where) then to here (where and why); please be slower and more explicit. You would help a lot more people. thanks
Process explorer/monitor is amazing of course., but discovering "Shift+Right click on a file - copy as a path" == :MINDBLOWN: I used to click on the address bar, write the starting letters of the file wait for the autocomplete, and then copy the text...
I've never gotten "Clone in Desktop" working and I thought it was something wrong with my computer. I'll have to follow your debugging steps to see if I have the same issue.
Hey Scott, i follow up constantly. Please let me know how to detect from procmon if any process such as devenv.exe is touched by local security software.. OR any other tool you can recommend me to detect it... thanks in advance!!!
This was what I was looking for for the past five years. Thank you so much. Don't ever take this video down, please

Yep, this is exactly what I did to troubleshoot the same issue (different application thought) - good explanation of how to do it.
Thanks, I didn't know about the more detailed tracing you can do with procmon.
This is so helpful. Thanks, Scott!
Great video. I knew most of this a while back but sorta forgot about it... now it's back in the toolbox again :)
OK but, at the end, what was the problem with GitHub?

Mark Russinovich's TechEd Case of the Unexplained vids are also good.
