Have you seen Veritasium's video on the ultimate study on happiness? The two things that ultimately make people the most happy are physical fitness (diet, habits, training, etc) and relationships (not just romantic ones, but with friends/family too). Increasing your income (no matter your baseline level of happiness) barely makes a dent in how happy you feel. Food for thought for whenever you dwell on the materialistic component of being happy.
i haven’t watched it but i realised it as i’ve gotten older. I used to idolize a lot of materialistic things, thinking “if i got the physique my life would be so good”, and i think externalising my own fulfilment is a very limited and conditioned mindset.
