At first I thought yet another 909 review? which we have seen plenty of them for the last a few years, but I must admit that haven't seen it in this much close look and details, thanks a lot!
As much as I love the Them team and their progress within rollerblading, I never really enjoyed the look of the skates. But these look clean and I’m a sucker for white skates!! Awesome video as always.
I think it’s the tight lace area. Creates more blank space on the side of the boot. Also the wavy bit on the side feels a little weak, I’m glad they removed most of it from the 908 but IMO it still needs reworking.
"and then they have these really nice gel silic..." 🤣🤣 Those do look really nice. You can tell they are made by skaters, the new style hardware and the fact the soul plate bolts and the frame bolts are the same hex size! That's a small touch that's huge. Great stuff Ben! Also those cuffs are height adjustable with that oval nut, it'd be really cool if that became a standard to dial in a perfect feel.
lol glad you caught that. You can DEFINITELY tell they are designed by long-time skaters. Wish I would have thought to mention the height-adjustable cuff. :/ This literally appears to be the best skate to "work on" I've ever seen....by far. Well done THEM. Well done indeed.
Love the video and review. Thank you! I'd been toying with the idea of trying to put some 909 cuffs on my 908s, and now I see the difference in the bolt receivers for the adjustable cuffs. Guess it's not impossible but I don't want to dremel my 908s. I originally had trouble fitting my Medium 908s and got the Large Them v4 liner and it made all the difference. Then I just put the v3 soul plates on. Also a big difference. Now I’m thinking I’ll just get the gray 909- 2022 edition. Thanks again!
The 909 is actually a fairly light skate, but the THEM street frame is one of the heaviest(which is fine because they did that by design)... that’s the only reason they feel a little heavy. If you throw some featherlights on there they’ll feel just like your Cults. Honestly you might skate really good on them skates. That’s my favorite skate on the market but I can’t skate a raised heel because of my back. That’s why I was on the quest to try the rollerblades and aeons I assume that Sam threw the mesmers in the trash 😅
Someday I'll have a pair of my own lol. Those frames are definitely BEEFY huh? Definitely will be getting a pair in the future. I have too many skates to skate right now!....and my ankle is still finishing up healing. :3
@@iRollerboot Yeah it’s easy to end up with a lot of skates. The collector part of me likes the idea of collecting skates but anytime I have more than like three pairs it stresses me out. They are a lot bigger than action figures and video game cartridges 😎

Lol not in the trash but the fact I’m still getting foot discomfort after almost 5 months skating them is pretty disheartening. I have noticed the flex on the cuff is just too much for me now too, had some sessions where I thought my cuff bolts had fallen out cause they were flexing so much.

I was under the impression only the new all grey Thems have that. After looking at the new all-greys, it looks to me like a different buckle that include the •••• (them logo lol)
I love the idea of THEM but I feel people over look some quality issues like cuff bolts , hardware , cracking boots and souls because it’s skater owned
Or maybe because JJ takes care of you if you bring these issues to him. I had a bad liner on my v1 909 and he sent me another set. Had a friend with a boot issue and he took care of that too. But these were earlier on and out of at least 10 other pairs skated in our group we never saw these issues.
Those are sugically clean looking skates. I would actually buy these. Now if we can just get these people to stop pulling their damn pant legs over the cuffs looking all dorky in Thems and Mesmers... STOP COVERING CUFF WITH PANT LEGS!! PLEASE. NOT HAMMER ERA APPROVED.

The them buckles only started coming out on the black and grey ones released a few weeks ago and have Them branding on them. They look really cool.
The new buckle is not available yet for sale individually....its either on the way or might get released at Blading Cup(fingers crossed).
