They're also cheaper, come with was more features, and the quality for the price blows legacy ICE cars out of the water.

Can totally see these things being the upmarket version. The key consideration is that the additional costs like tax/insurance dont kill the concept.
I'm in Indonesia and I drove wuling Air Ev, the other version of mini ev. its pretty fun to drive car, very cheap to operate, its like driving a smart for two, but with more passenger.
yeah but the durability is absolute trash. atleast you can get good durability with actually good cars like toyota, honda and other japanese car brands
@@ZeroPlays291 it is cheap to buy and cheap to operate. If you are only driving the car for city casual use, it is not going to be trouble lol. These are the equivalent of the original 500, Mini, Beetle, etc. that brought personal transport to the masses in Europe. And make far more sense in the tight confines of the older town roads and modern compact housing than the current lust for 2+ tonne SUVs.
They are missing out not selling things like this in the states as well. I would have one if they sold them here. I would have the Mini EV 5 door, the Panda Knight, or a Kiwi, tomorrow if I could get one. I just use it to commute to work, go to the grocery store and take the dog to the park. If I go on the highway it’s to go to the mall and it’s 10 minutes. I would get one for my mother in law as well. It’s all that older people would need to get to the store and doctors appointments.
@@hermesliteratus882 most of them lack the navigation and social media systems that would be s problem, but North African prices are already double what you see here in China. Older part of Asia and Europe loves superminis, despite most of the cities being destroyed by previous wars. Japan, China, Korea, UK, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic - they have a lot of "old town" which streets are narrow and horse carriage-sized, or human-drawn carriage sized. Old US and Canadian cities are typically demolished during the start of 20th century going all the way to 1950s-1960s, to built road enlargements and highways under the sponsorship and lobbying of oil and auto industry. The historic rural areas are either flattened by suburban development or absorbed by urban sprawls. However, EVs are never the catch-all solution to transportation needs. The Chinese car industry indeed went too far. CATL developed a platform that is survivable when crashed at 120 kph (the fastest frontal crash test standard, the NHTSA is at 64 kph). We have the Wuling AirEV (Wuling / Baojun Yundao in PRC) in Indonesia, it is electronically limited to 100 kph. People do a lot of things with it, including cutesy cringey heart-shaped tyre rim and anime-themed wrappers. Pink interior, hot pink AC vents, lavender seat upholstery, anything you can think of, will be coloured accordingly.
A few years ago, here in the US, Fiat 500e can be leased for as low as $64 a month. I got one for 2 years at $80. Cars can be affordable outside of China too but they just want to squeeze more out of us
A good aspect of these super affordable EVs is that designers and customers are willing to try out quirky and fun designs, whereas if I am spending $60K on an EV, I would never dare to buy an EV with a pony tail and horns!😂😅
Price accessible for younger Australians. Better distribution of battery resources (map against greater number of people). Even for established and wealthy folks, this kind of car is going to have you covered for probably >90% of your routine driving. There's absolutely a market for these tiny EV's here. I already have an MG4 but when I was shopping for a 2nd EV I just wanted the cheapest one I could find with and 'acceptable range'. For me that's around 150km. I ended up with a first gen MG ZS EV (230km range) for $25K. Would have been just as happy with one of these buzz boxes for $15-20. Closest I can see us getting is the BYD Seagull, is that ever coming here?
Apparently they are nicknamed: "happy grandpa" and its designed to be driven slowly by elderly people to take grandkids to school and pick up groceries.
You're talking about low-speed electric vehicles, you don't need a driver's license. So the elderly can drive. This car requires a driver's license to drive.
My motorcycle is much more expensive than any of these cars. but I ride for fun. to be honest, even without any safety function, these cars are much safer and comfortable than any motorcycle. if I can only afford like 125 or 150cc scooters, I may save money for some time and buy one of these for commute.
These things are brilliant. Getting more people into these cars in as many countries as possible think of the economic, social and eco benefits. Chinese EVs will save the world.
