Repairing Milwaukee 545S Kango Hammer. Replacing a burnt out motor.

- These hammers would not have been very good so I was a little weary about replacing this armature. But the customer wanted it fixed, so I have to fix it.
But at 200 euro it is worth doing if the rest of the hammer is working correctly.

That pre-assembled armature was a nice surprise. Not sure what to think about that brush with the extremely long control wire though, lol!
Love your channel Dean top man
Thanks 👍
Dean thanks so much for your channel. I repair tools at a construction company I work for in the USA. I have learned so much from watching you! There are a few differences between US models and UK models but the components are mostly the same so you are a huge help to me. Do you get many band saws in for repair? I don’t recall you doing a video on one.
Good video Dean.
I like the shiny new Skil Drill & Wiha screwdriver kit. Its nice to get new tools
Dean nice video.Your videos are a great source of incidental learning.Keep making more videos and educating others.
Dean Doherty, You're amazing! I hit the like button as soon as I saw it!

So what is the most reliable tool brand out there ? Out of the "big" four. Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee and Bosch.
Makita and Bosch for sure!!
The brush with the cable, true on the other side, but that probably doesn't matter.
I have the same hammer, I have changed the brushes but the red light is still only when i push the switch, what could be the cause?
That impact m18 nut buster takes some beating what a tool be interesting how better the new model is with that new battery
what battery? the pouch cell one?
That motor and the handle setup looks very similar to the older German Kango models (the yellow plastic ones) but the newer Milwaukee version looks messy and much harder to take apart. Design quality at TTI always goes backwards it seems. Shame because the old ones weren't bad at all to work on, nice machines even if there weren't many about.
also seem very similar to Atlas copco drills of 20-30 years ago, which were excellent quality. perhaps made in same factory back in the day ? I still have from from that era that is still running.
@@johnbullard5973 That's the ones, made (I think) by AEG's German factory. They were very nicely made to be repaired, with modular assembly that splits into sub-units, all brass inserts/no self tappers, plug connectors for disassembly etc. The Milwaukee update looks cheap and no thought for maintenance, I can see why Dean hates fixing them.
Liked this one .is the skil brushless driver a good drill.notice u use it a lot?
Yea, it is. It's the same body amd motor as a few other brands skil must supply, like erbauer. But the gearbox on it is much better quality.
One of the bosch drill I use started playing up so started using this one in the workshop.
I have around 4 drills on the workbench with different bits.
Hey, what's wrong with you guys!!! Give Dean a like!!!!!
How long have you been working on this type of machines?
Is the new battery's giving the old tool's more power but the price is unbelievable
The wee dab of grease made this otherwise fine video for me !
Where can i find Spare Parts for Milwaukee? super hard to find
They can be hard to get, I use a main wholesale supplier. But I see a lot of of online shops don't sell many parts for them know.
Repairing them and selling spares is losing people money so they don't want to deal with milwaukee
Nice one
I have Ridgid in USA, I believe that is AEG in the UK.
Dot you get any of those in?
Dean is in Ireland, AEG tools are on sale where I am in the UK but I've never seen any on site, and even Milwaukee is not very common over here.
Milwaukee is the main tool I see on sites all over the UK. What have you seen? @@enemyofthestatewearein7945
The only ones I see using milwaukee on sites are young lads here in Ireland. Any older lads the buy milwaukee quickly dump them and change back.
The rest of the world love Milwaukee @deandohertygreaser
Has that dewalt new impact better if so well what's to come
Dean, you do a great job at explaining step by step, also tricks into assembling.
I definitely like the tools you use, especially the Whia side cutters. I’d like to get me a pair but I can’t find them on their website. Do you have a part number for them?
It's not a Wiha, it's Draper 26482 ERGO PLUS, which is a rebranded Orbis 21-1850. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the information. I found them.
I got one on eBay
@@tommoso55 I’ve look everywhere here in the USA. eBay, Amazon and websites. Can’t find them.
Love your videos ! But I dont love Milwaukee 😂
Some of them are very good tools. Like the older hole hogs ! Couldn't kill them if you tried
Me neither
