Hey Joey, I’ve got a little science based guess as to why turning the extra blue light off decreased your hair algae problems. Blue light is the highest energy of visible light waves and has the most penetrating power through water. Since the only plants in your tank are naturally slow growing, the extra high energy light is mostly “excess” for them, so hair algae came in to eat all that extra energy up since it can multiply much faster than your moss. If you had some faster growing plants in there with them it could get rid of the problem as well, but turning the lights off seems like a better solution to me.
The thing with big aquariums is that everyone put big fish in them.. I would love to see a really large aquarium with a massive amounts of really small fish..
Looks super good - The 'Gallery' looks super nice with only a few big tanks. Might be hard to do a bunch of videos on changes every few weeks though. Will be nice to just watch incremental updates on the growth!
I just love that shade of blue with the black. Joey you will have to come up with something sick to go above on the wall when the series is all complete. Something with black and hints of that blue in it. Great video explaining everything and your explanation of the blue lights makes sense to me. I know nothing. lol I cannot wait to see the angels in there, it's going to be wonderful. Would you consider getting a huge school of dennison(?) barbs to go with them, they're so amazing and look incredible? I enjoy how you build tanks for yourself. Easy DIY stuff in some cases, the half way protection if your forget to shut of the water change, the lids are perfect, and the lights we will see like you say. I like the scape, it flows somehow. Very pleasing to the eye. Joey I hope your feeling better soon and enjoy Tamara's soup. I'm sure she will nurse you back to health and spoil you rotten. lol Special hugs to Luke. Love and Peace.
Amazing display aquarium! Love the look of everything so far and I agree with the blue lights. I think a community tank will be the best so you can have various levels of swimmers. Great work as usual and phenomenal job on the light / CO2 connection. ❤
Brilliant discontinuing the blue light. Community tank with the altims would be beautiful. Maybe some emperor tetras . dither fish to make the atims less scared.
Tank looks great, I’m diggin it. Your blue light theory does make sense, out of my three big tanks only my 125 has blue lights in its spectrum and that’s the only tank that gets algae faster than the other two tanks. I’m gonna switch lights with a cheap shop light and see how it comes out after a month or so, then I’ll give an update 👍👍
Amazing set up as always! I do think some botanicals (leaf litter, cones, pods etc) would really compliment the substrate and also create an even more natural environment for the angels
I’d say, Altum Angels, Discus even wild ones, cardinal tetras, that would look amazing and more natural as in the Amazon. 👍 This sixteen footer is looking great already, it’s going to look amazing with what I’ve suggested and whatever else you think Joey. 👍
Ive got a 135 gal tank with 2 FX6's and built my own spray bars using 3/4 inch PVC and put one at one end and the other in the middle and it makes for a lot of surface movement and my fish love playing in the current. Ive also got a couple of wave makers at the opposite end to move water back the other way.
I stopped using blue lights years ago! It wasn’t because of any intentional reason, I just prefer the more yellow tint of a regular light! I like a dimmer look that’s not too bright!
Joey you are correct ✅ “Blue” light causes algae, after watching one of Corey’s videos awhile back I turned off the Blue lights in my “Current-USA” systems and have never had any algae problem, I have the “Orbit-Marine” 6’ twin on my 240 and the 4’ on my 110, the lights are at 25% setting 10hrs per day running 6year and never any algae issue
I really like that scape, I'm to plant crazy to let an aquarium have one type of plant but I do like that look. It may not be the fastest water change but it's probably the easiest. 👍🏼
That's wild I have those same lights on my 120 and I got a bunch of algae but my smaller tanks have no algae and no blue led's. Going to unplug my blue cord too. Thanks 👍
Blue lights don't grow algae more. Being a reef enthusiast, the spectrum of light that grows vegetation and algae the most are red and yellow. We always prefer lower kelvin lighting in our refugiums to grow algae. The likely cause of your hair algae clearing up is the fact that your plants are healthier and soaking up most of the nitrates in the water, making the hair algae die off
Probably worth investing in a proper diffuser, airstones aren’t designed to work with high pressures and thus you get massive bubbles with a low surface area to volume ratio.
personally, i think fine gravel would look and function well as an alternative to lessen the displacement of your substrate. but the sand is fine as well although i think most would agree that there isn’t enough sand…also that little pile of stones looked very unnatural over the far right, the previous scape looked better in my opinion. im sure that with time, all would tie up together and grow phenomenal especially with some jungle val and ferns, great work king 👑
Idea for you joey, you could build a rack above the 16ft and line it with 40 long or what ever you want. And scape them with 'mountain style' aquascapes which will represent the mountains in the background. With a bunch of nano fish which can represent flocks of birds
Hey Joey, an unrelated question here (sort of). Do you have seasonal allergies? Like pollen allergies? My doctor said the allergy season is really bad this year, I've been hit 4 times already with this current one being the worst. I've bern dealing with congestion and sinus pressure for a few days but it always starts with a sore throat.
I'm new. My son is 13, and obsessed with aquariums and found you online last night; came in all mad that I didn't tell him there was an aquarium in Truro(we're from Pictou!) Anyway, will you be open to the public at some point?
I actually like the tank!! I have been thinking about 10ft around 250 or so gallons built. Reason being, I have grown to like the length of the tanks for swimming space.
I think you should put a couple of hundred tetra in as well, not the normal Cardinals or Rummy noses but some chunkier ones. 50 Columbian tetra's and 100-150 Black neons would look cool.
This tank with the Piranha grass, moss, wood and rocks..... With the fish choices, would be awesome! I think also, the Lower dramatic lighting with the shimmering Angels.. would be visually stunning! But thats just me...
350gal? Huh, I was expecting it to be bigger. That’s what she said! HA! Got ‘em! 😂 Don’t worry Joey, it’s not the size that matters! The tank looks great! It’ll do the job!
Joey, what size hosing did you use to replace the Fluval ribbed hosing? I have an FX4. Is it the same diameter hosing as the FX6? I always hated the ribbed hosing and want to do this to my FX4.
First off, it’s awesome that you built a long river tank like this! About the decor… I’m sorry but I can’t help seeing from far away the twisting wood from left to right just looks like the biggest longest giant fish poop in the world 💀 Maybe it would help if you added some big leafy plants or more dark/textured rocks. Also have to agree with everyone about the blue being rather bright and artificial compared to the natural scape you’re going for… but it’s still a cool tank!
How do i turn the blue lights off on my nicrew light? I do get alot of algae. They are on in either setting i have. Only blue and blue and white together.
Love the tank but like many others just feel the blue background doesn't work so well. But can't wait till Aqua decor see the blue and send you something special to cover it then this tank will look amazing haha
Now Joey hear me out, I know you've said you like to see some Cory Dora in the tank and seeing as the other communal fish would be mid/high table swimming fish, how do you feel about Clown Loaches in this tank? Their colouring with the contrast with the angel fish and blue background would just pop. Only issue as you know they grow quite large in the end of the day.
Sorry to spam just uber excited on this tank and how awesome it really came out in the end. Angels being the focus fish, Corydora and Clown Loaches for lower table swimmers and for contrast Tetra's would be enough for this tank I feel. Simple and Majestic.
My husband purchased your soft cover book on may 28 and has never received it. Or received tracking. The link says expired when trying to open e-book as well. Explain?

Blue spectrum is good for emmersed and terrestrial plants.
I wonder how long he keeps this tank up before he tears it down...
8 months
4 months
😢😢
Thank you for making this series.❤❤❤❤
Aquarium looks fire Joey and the idea with the co2 with the blue light plug is genius 💪🏼💯👍🏼
The thing with big aquariums is that everyone put big fish in them.. I would love to see a really large aquarium with a massive amounts of really small fish..
Looks mint well done one day I'll own my own home and try something like this ❤
@craig.catfish that will be epic!
@pelhamsaquatics one day jeff xx
Looks super good - The 'Gallery' looks super nice with only a few big tanks. Might be hard to do a bunch of videos on changes every few weeks though. Will be nice to just watch incremental updates on the growth!
That looks so dope Joey !!!
This reminds me of your rainbow fish tank before but on a larger scale... Nice😊
Discus + The Altums would be absolutely amazing!
Too much flow.
@@evilrooster9960 in the video Joey explains how he can increase/decrease the flow.
Altums gets huge and like deep stable tank so this is kind of wrong fish wrong tank scenario.
Great job on the 16' tank. Amazing.feel better!

Joey looking really good can’t wait to see fish in there. That’s gonna be amazing. Awesome great work.❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm putting together an intervention group to get you to fill the tanks up all the way. My OCD goes a little crazy every time I see it.
Stunning Fish. Awesome idea. Aaaaaand. Blue background.... fishshop alike
The 16’ is beautiful man can’t wait to see the full stocking
I think the 16 ft tank is wild looking. Great work Joey!
Looks great
Joey’s good job mate ❤
That's a great looking tank! Congrats! :)
Brilliant discontinuing the blue light. Community tank with the altims would be beautiful.

Awesome job on the tank and filtration! I would definitely add beautiful DISCUS fish with the altums. Great video! Great ideas!!!
Wow this is impressive i don't know how you guys built such great aquariums
I thought you did a great job on this tank, Joey, specially with the filtration and lighting. You have all kinds of options with those Altum angels.
Amazing set up as always!

wow, I've never noticed you keep the surface of the water below the top. That gives the tank a really powerful look.
A great reef tank in the waiting.
*expensive
@@tomlinsona0704Joey can afford it
In my opinion aqua decor background would look amazing with manzanita branches coming down from the top.. also some plants on top.. ex. Monstera etc..
I stopped using blue lights years ago! It wasn’t because of any intentional reason, I just prefer the more yellow tint of a regular light! I like a dimmer look that’s not too bright!
Love the new tank. If i owned it i'd stock it with loads of rummynose tetra and corydora. I'm a novice though so i usually play it safe.
love the nicrew lights! great video Joey!
All your tanks outstanding. Love the piranha tank.
Miss many of your past saltwater tanks, though
Bro--- the FX6 has a bottom discharge for water changes--plus semicleans the filter

I have been using the NICREW salt water lights on my tank for about 4 years. Never had a problem. The inline timer on them is great!!
Despite what everyone says, I think that blue looks dope! You do you boo boo.
Looks awesome great job
Thats good information on co2 and the blue lights. Thanks for sharing
Discus! AND PLECOS!! Would look great with your angels
That's wild I have those same lights on my 120 and I got a bunch of algae but my smaller tanks have no algae and no blue led's. Going to unplug my blue cord too. Thanks 👍
Sweet tank Joey! I have to check my LED lights and see if I can turn the blue lights off too.
Frontosa and shelldweller kingdom!
gonna look amazing with the fish!

I guess Black could have been better then blue
I think long plants like Vallisneria asiatica, would add extremly too the overall look an behavior in the fish :D

cool fish tank dude

Best tank by far was that old rainbow fish tank with that little stingray
Connecting the CO2 to the spare light power source is a great idea. You might of been not well, but you were still firing on all cylinders.
Sick King still lives in a World very few fish keepers can understand but building whatever he wants because he can !!! 🦍
I'm new. My son is 13, and obsessed with aquariums and found you online last night; came in all mad that I didn't tell him there was an aquarium in Truro(we're from Pictou!)
Anyway, will you be open to the public at some point?
Blue light power source to the CO2 is freaking GENIUS
First, feel better.. I like the Discus and Altum idea also as the featured fish. Gonna try that blue light idea and see what happens.
I love it ,i'm thinking of building a wooden aquarium 5x3x2.5 , how much did it cost roughly so I can get an idea.
That'd make an awesome trout tank
Some giant vallis at one end would look cool.
Seems like you built this quick asf 😂 damn 🔥
I actually like the tank!! I have been thinking about 10ft around 250 or so gallons built. Reason being, I have grown to like the length of the tanks for swimming space.

I never like to see the water. I have it filled to the black part
A few Wild discus would be great
So what lights from Amazon did you buy? Thanks
That must be the scariest part - fully waterproof a tank then when it is all done - drill some holes!
About as scary as drilling through a glass tank. Have done it a few times, but freaks me out every time I do it.
This tank with the Piranha grass, moss, wood and rocks..... With the fish choices, would be awesome! I think also, the Lower dramatic lighting with the shimmering Angels.. would be visually stunning! But thats just me...
Scape looks way better! 👍🏼
350gal? Huh, I was expecting it to be bigger. That’s what she said! HA! Got ‘em! 😂 Don’t worry Joey, it’s not the size that matters! The tank looks great! It’ll do the job!
Beautiful
Joey, what size hosing did you use to replace the Fluval ribbed hosing? I have an FX4. Is it the same diameter hosing as the FX6? I always hated the ribbed hosing and want to do this to my FX4.
Joey I like that you're using the white light not the blue light there's no algae from watching your shows I've learned a lot
I think the FX6 already have a built in outflow at the bottom.
Right?
It does come with one already...don't understand why you would make more work for yourself
I use that on the bottom of the filter too. But maybe he doesn’t want to get rid of the goodness that settles down there? I bet he has his reasons tho
I love this tank. I use the same lights on all my tanks. My planted tank lights have red leds as well.
What is the name of the material you used for the lid on that one tank? I always forget too and was bummed when you said you forget what it is lol
Nice one mate
Co2 pump into blue light is genius
some gradually smaller rocks all the way down to rounded gravel would make it pop
Hey bro!!! Can you do this? DOUBLE END ROTATING WATER OUTLET for a fish tank
Lets goo !! 🎉
Some big wild discus
Bro who does your fade? 🤣🤣nice video

Sorry to spam just uber excited on this tank and how awesome it really came out in the end. Angels being the focus fish, Corydora and Clown Loaches for lower table swimmers and for contrast Tetra's would be enough for this tank I feel. Simple and Majestic.
Hey man, I bought your book may 28th and still haven’t received it or any shipping info.
Great size tank. I'm not a fan of the blue background though sorry.
A few wild discus need to go in with those altums tho 😊
My husband purchased your soft cover book on may 28 and has never received it. Or received tracking.
