Thanks a lot for watching! Also give my other videos some love, they're good as well but the algorithm* just promotes this one haha. *the one from youtube, not Remi Gallego lol
I don’t know what happened to this genre honestly. It used to be anything but generic with bands like Thrice, Dance Gavin Dance, Emarosa (older) etc but somehow got infused with hot topic metalcore and was ruined…
took him days to do this little song. No drums, amps, ect to mic up, I could knock a 3 chord track in an about an hour using my daw, that i hate. Mixing would take longer than tracking.
You should have listened to the actual post hardcore bands like: Saosin Funeral For a Friend alexisonfire Silverstein Underoath From Autumn to Ashes The Used and so much more but these are just a few to mention to see how creative this genre actually is. You did a good and funny video but that didn't sound like post hardcore to me at all except a few minor details.
Thank you, my offically first organicly generated commentor. :D Just finished the talking part of the next video today, which will cover the very other part of the metal spectrum. ;)
Glad you like it! If you are just getting started there is a lot of super helpfull RUclips tutorial content out there, which is far more in depth than my videos. Basically all I know about mixing I learned from YT tutorials. :D Probably gonna make some serious tipps and tricks videos at some point as well.
Well tbh I never encountered that problem. :D My songs tend to be too long and in the end I have to ditch some parts. I mean to make it longer you could just repeat a verse or add another bridge or make the intro or outro a bit more monumental or building up.
@@liminal-roses Unfortunately there is no short answer to that question. But there are plenty of drum processing tutorials out there. It's less about what you use and more about how you use it.^^
@@Bosmek thank you !! its just that i really love the specific samples you used , and modern/massive has multiple presets , so if i could figure out which ones you used specifically that’d be stellar ^^
Yeah I cound't really figure out how to "manually" autotune well. Melodyne is just too expensive for me rn but I got my hands on a similar plugin for less money (Waves Tune LT), which I will use from now on. On the Post HC track I really just used free snap to grid style tune correction (GSnap and Graillon).
Not gonna lie, the keys in the chorus remind me of falco quite a lot :D Besides that great work, i enjoyed your tutorial tho i feel your shouting is a bit to much deathmeddl themed Solid 8/10!(:
True that. Still trying to figure out how to do the angsty emo screaming, but I think I'm making some kind of progress in that matter. You will hear it in the future. ;)
Watching this video because I write post hardcore but end up with pop punk 😂. But after hearing about how cookie cutter it is, now I question if I should just not change. Some inspiration won't hurt I suppose 🤷
I feel like pop punk is a lot faster, first and foremost. And relies more on open chords than powerchords and chugging. But these two genres are definitely not my strong side.
@@Bosmek Yeah I definitely find myself jamming out at like 200bpm, I also use a lot of spread triads and palm mutes. I rarely use open chords tho they're too busy and kinda don't make sense in a way (even though I know exactly how chords work).
Yeah, thats what all my freids said too. :D To be fair, it was literally the first time in my life singing, so of course it would suck. I'm working on it (once in a while at least^^).
The shouting and guitar riffs far too metalcore tbh. Saosin, Funeral For A Friend, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance don’t really sound like this tbh. This was more aggressive than the generic metalcore attempt
Hey, I'm curently on vacation, but I'll get back to you when I'm home again. I could just upload an unmastered instrumental version to my soundcloud for example.

Do you side chain the bass when the kicks overlap?
@@rejuvinatez347 I think so, I usually do. But just a bit, like the first 50ms of punch.

Fugazi, At The Drive In, Drive Like Jehu…

Lots of effort put into this video! I'll be watching stuff you do man

Hahahaha this is amazing!! Post-hardcore is my favourite genre and I think you nailed it :D
Glad to hear!
I found your how to videos great! I'd like to see you make a generic "Post Metal" song as well.
Neurosis, Tool , Pelican and Godspeed you are the few bands I think of.
Post metal isn't generic by definition.
what a great video, the tips you gave here are soooo useful
I also have to reeeeally plan the melodies before singing, otherwise it doesn't work lol
Great work I actually like your singing and I learned a bit of things from this
Post hardcore is awesome.
Your “how to” videos are severely underrated 🔥
Banger.
Standard tuning with breakdowns
"Classic BLEH" Great video man!
I know you’re memeing them but this shit was kinda helpful lmao
So underrated! This video taught me a lot honestly. Not that I’m gonna use the knowledge or whatever but-
Damn ! So fun ! Keep up !

It's GGD Modern and Massive.

what I thought - the synth sound and vocals makes it sound like a strange mixture of post-hardcore and 80s synthpop xD

Studio One.
