  • In this video, I show you how I refreshed my front seats using some Coverado seat covers. I never much cared how the seats looked, and they are comfortable enough. I just don't want the rip to get any worse, and I don't want the foam getting wet from rain and become moldy, etc. So I got some seat covers to prolong the service of these tired old seats.

    So this is what’s going on. I was moving a box that was thin but kinda long and when I put it in the trunk I had to put one side of it on on the headrest and one of the plastic that holds the headrest metal bars broke.
    I spoke to a tech and he said the back panel needs to come off and then replace the piece which is $9. However Lexus will charge me something like $300 to that.
    I want to know if anyone has removed that plastic panel which is in the back of the rear seat(2nd row).
    Thanks

    To anyone considering buying these at present: they have changed the design. For the worse in my opinion. The sides of the seat backs are split (elastic bands pull them together) and there are fewer anchor points at the base of the back (1 versus 3). And, it looks like the sides of the seat bottoms are smaller/shorter; I can not achieve the full coverage depicted in this video.
    Sadly, the full coverage back was a major selling point as far as I’m concerned so…I guess I’ll use them till the elastic gives out

    i bought the full set front and back for my 2014 Gx460, they looked amazing , sadly the fitting was horrible , for the front seat there was no clean way to tie them down or feed the straps through where the bottom and the back meet, really wanted to love them ended up returning them

    they look nice, going to get these didnt want to go thru the trouble of doing the seats over or paying someone to do it. And with all the seat covers out there online looking for something can be a lil overwhelming. Thanks always appreciate your videos

    I need the exact same color you installed on your GX, but it looks like the tan colored Coverado seat covers aren’t available on the link you provided. Do you have another link or source for these covers?

    You can get leather seat replacements on ebay for dirt cheap.

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  Год назад

      Yep, I was also considering that option. It came down to ease of installation and the extra lumbar support on these. Plus, I believe those are about $70 for just the pair of seat bottoms, then close to $200 for the seat back. Not saying it’s not worth it 100%, I just have different priorities and these are like 130 for both full front seats

      @@lexus_offroad_adventures you'll also have to make cuts to the new bottoms to fit as well not to mention you need to remove the seats completely. I watched some of the videos and Hawkweye Garage has one doing it and I'd rather spend a little more and do this.

    Having a hard time getting seat bottom tabs tucked under the plastic trim. Any tips?

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  Год назад

      The rear buckles are hard. Have the one that loops through the seat gap ready, or have a friend hold it, then aggressively pull down on the other one after finding it under the plastic. Then bring the two sides together like I showed in the video. The inner one near the center console can be connected outside the seat plastic if you don’t mind having it visible
      If it’s the front tabs, those ones just happened easily for me so not sure I’d be much help.

    They look padded, do they offer any additional comfort? I wonder if the heated seats can still be felt through the material or not? They look great!

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  Год назад

      I haven’t tested the heated seats but I’ve heard one guy say it feels like the heaters are on the half setting when they’re set to full heat. Yes there’s a bit of extra padding. They’re comfortable, especially coupled with some seat risers.

      Me and probably another viewer only asked because Coveradao is only selling the entire set. I think front and back are $219.

    There are leather REPAIR kits that work GREAT-- wiht a little practice-- go fix some old leather seats in junker vehicles first for practice then do yours and they'll look great.. the ktis are not too expensive either.. and it's EASY..
