    I had to watch it 3 times but I think I have it now. I’m not in the trades but recently built in evaporator for a cold bay table. I added a 2nd condenser unit to the system. The problem is I’m using DC fans that run continuously and I have to manually defrost the additional coils. The original unit has shielded coils covered with stainless. Also I must thaw these manually. All that was background. My goal is to add a defrost cycle and heaters. I understand the wiring as you explained. The DC heaters has a AC inverter so I can rig a power outlet from the grasslin mimicking a fan delay. Still working that out. The answer is in your setup. It’s working on 120 Ac which makes it easier. Thanks for your video.

    I have asked a few guys to show how shit is wired up, and to explain it in detail. Anyone can change a bad part wire for wire. But understanding what your doing and why is golden. You did a fantastic job. You remind me of my father who passed away sometimes it's hard to watch your video's.

    Many thanks Bill. I'm relatively new to the refrigeration game over here in the UK and coincidentally it was only the other day I pulled the Grasslin schematic off the internet and worked it out from that. Your video was really helpful to reinforce what I'd learned from paper, in practice. Love the passion you guys in the US have for this trade. Please keep the videos going. Although they won't be too useful for the senior techs / engineers out there, they're great for us newbies. Take care. R

    You can also use your compressor discharge plus a 3 way valve,the hot gas has a temp between 150 and 170 degree depending on what refrigerant you use .Not used much today but once in a while you still see them.You still need your defrost box to send voltage to your 3 way valve and timer,fan and so on.You did a nice job explaining how a defrost works,keep up the good work.

    Good display. However what about a walk-in cooler where the fans are constant and the compressor is wired through a thermostat. My staff has a habit of leaving the door open to much and the coil freezes from time to time. I want to install a defrost clock so at night I can ensure a consistent defrost cycle. Thanks. It has 220V

    Does the compresor turn off when defrost come on? If you check with the multimeter between N&4 you shouldn’t get power correct? I. This case is a 120v freezer. If I get power all Across the board with all the pins in refrigerations and defrost is a safe bet to think it’s time for a new defrost clock? Thank you in advance

  • @throttlebottle5906
    @throttlebottle5906 4 года назад +1

    you could wire the actual defrost termination switch in and use component "freeze spray" to make it cycle. not very cheap and you don't want to use a ton of it ;)
    then again, just use and recovered R134a (as liquid through a nozzle) which is what "most" of those sprays are, I believe some are now R1234ze...

    Great video. My question is when the defrost termination switch closes the switch on red to brown, does that also close the switch on 2-4 even if the timer is still in defrost? I’m a bit confused there.

    • @curioushvacguy6876

      Yes it does, it jumps right into refrigeration mode

    • @aus_aircon_ref_mech6671
      @aus_aircon_ref_mech6671 4 года назад

      Just another question. When the system is in defrost, will there be a short circuit between 1 & N? As the red to black switch would be closed(?) would current flow then be L1, 1, control power, N, L2?
