    Today David finally lost his battle but has gained his wings and is finally free. It was so sad toward the end seeing what his illness had done to him. Rest in peace, David. You deserve that now. Thank you for your music and your presence in our world. ❤

      @Mellissa Boomer of the Night They couldn't tell me what, ostensibly, caused my brain cyst. They said (and I quote) "these things just happen". Anything that involves the brain will cause very serious problems. No one should fail to take it seriously.

    What he says at 2:12 in what the doctor called a confused or rambling moment is actually very true for many - - (paraphrased) “We reflect upon the past and what life was like when it was simpler, nicer, kinder, when we had our parents and they might have passed on. That’s what causes the emptiness, the loneliness, so we try to escape it.”

    I watched the interview with Pierce Morgan and David really did have a heart felt want and drive to stop drinking. I can't judge him prior to his death but I know the evil that yells from that bottle as I live with an alcoholic and it runs in my family. I am thankful that I saw that interview and hope and know that he had a chance to make things right as possible with his family and God above before he left this world.

    Acute alchoholism can cause dementia, he was just lying about or denying the cause. I will say that having seen the A&E documentary, he truly sounded relieved that it was the alcohol that was causing the dementia, his mother had suffered and lingered for years and he seemed to truly fear ending up in the same condition!
    Whatever the truth,

    Even though it's evident that something is "off" during that interview with his mannerisms and communicating (like he was struggling); but each of his stories/anecdotes made sense. Ie singing "live" in the studio at the same time musicians are playing (recordings haven't been done that way for decades), the thinking about nostalgia and a simpler, family oriented life of days past could made you feel lonely and empty today, especially if your parents are no longer with you, and lead to addiction., and lastly talking about his childhood wandering eye and the photos that are now funny to see. They ALL made sense and were appropriate and relevant to discuss. It's just evident to me that his dementia made communicating very difficult for him. And as it says, he was aware of it and was trying too hard to cover it perhaps, thereby making it worse. But It didn't really seem like drug alcohol to me. It's a medical show, couldn't they have spoken to him in private after studying the footage instead of automatically attributing it to drugs or alcohol? And I'm absolutely appalled that the 'specialist would imply and assume that other factors seemed to be at the play because it was so obvious. It was obvious because it was at the later stages of dementia, idiot! He had been covering it up for years! Dementia is progressive so of course it was obvious and doesn't necessarily mean drugs or alcohol or anything else was at play. I witnessed a musician friend of mine go from missing words here and there and family members suspecting something to not being able to put a sentence together or recognizing his family.

    • @alicew3563
      @alicew3563 7 лет назад +6

      I also agree, nothing irrelevant with what he says about recording and the wanting to escape and whats behind it. However, its more of how he speaks and I dont think his behaviour or speach is necessarily from a very late state of dementia although, but more of symptoms from brain damage from former abuse. For instance, when the liver is damaged and not doing its job, the brain will be effected, that can cause the somewhat forced speach and shaking or movements of bodyparts in an unatural way.

    • @sharontravis6130
      @sharontravis6130 7 лет назад +9

      He makes total sense in his stories. All true. His slow speech and other mannerisms are probably the mixed results of age and alcoholism. Everyone wants to remember him as a young handsome vibrant man, and no one is that forever. He was human, and alcoholism is also genetic in his family. His fathers death was indirectly a result of his alcoholism. His brothers may have it as well, nobody knows. David was very talented, and his voice and music are one of a kind. I loved him since I was 8 years old. Everyone ages. It all took its toll on his body as it does everyone, and his alcoholism damage was irreversible. I prefer to remember the wonderful, kind hearted, generous and loving man he was when I listen to his voice. And grateful for the years we had him. He lives on in his songs❤️. RIP finally David, with your Mum and Dad. Love❤️❤️

There is a very clear and cushy path for aged rock stars to claim substance abuse, go to rehab and grab a little "good for you" fame in the end. He is not doing this because he can't. If he were just another drunk/druggie we could expect repair to his health/mind. That will not happen here. He has dementia and will only get worse. They felt the need to blur his hand because he was pointing with his middle finger? 2:58 People do that sometimes. It's not always a rude gesture. Good grief.

    I saw David in concert towards the end. He appeared drunk, slurring words, etc. I heard this was going on but I went anyway bc I knew it would be the only & last time to see him. I am glad I went but it was pretty sad.

      Yes, and there is also a dementia associated with advanced alcoholism called Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome. It causes damage to the brain and nervous system which could explain David's quirky and odd behavioral movements. It is caused by a lack of vitamin B1 (thiamine). Injections of B1 can help reverse some of it, but a lot of the damage is permanent unfortunately.

    He later admitted he didn't have dementia but rather alcohol poisoning. He's drunk in some of these interviews (white shirt). Makes me terribly sad. I really felt like I loved him more than anything in the world. He just tore my heart apart learning he was a drunk.

    Drinking and drugs will damage your brain, and can bring on early Dementia. His Father also liked to drink too much. David Cassidy's absolute stardom at an early age, no doubt contributed to these unfortunate lifestyle influences. 67 is too young to pass away. God Bless you David, RIP. 🙏😔

      Robin Williams had dementia and his wife at first thought it was Parkinson's disease . He like David Cassidy had a drinking problem and I wonder if that contributed to his Dementia even though it is a real issue Dave has and is hereditary. In any Event I feel so sad for such a great and caring man.

    • @TheBrownIsland
      @TheBrownIsland 7 лет назад +7

      David Cassidy did not have an issue with alcohol or drugs. It's when he got in his 60's with the onset of Dementia he started drinking to cope with his health issue, which shocked his costar, Danny Bonaduce because David had NEVER drank alcohol. *It's hereditary for David, his mother had Dementia and so did his Grandfather on his Mother's side. They both died from dementia.* He said it broke his heart watching his mother disappear from this terrible disease and was in denial when he started experiencing early signs of it himself. He's been speaking on it in different interviews. David never had a chance because even his own father Jack Cassidy was Bipolar it was discovered later in his life before his untimely death.
      His MEMORY (confusion/forgetfulness) & SPEECH (slurred) is from Dementia and will only get worse with mood swings. It's probably passed down to his children now. My heart goes out to his Family and FANS who are saddened by the diagnosis of this terrible disease that he's suffering from.

    This was painful to watch. David Cassidy characteristically loved to ramble and talk with his audience, so it isn't far-fetched at all that he lost his train of thought or that the bramble went in various directions. He was always very open about his drinking, so it doesn't make sense that he would hide it now . What's important is that he was a viable performer, earnestly following his passions until he simply couldn't any more. Rest in peace.

    Agreed - he had such a bright career and life ; so sad to see his mind gone from the alcohol and drugs over the years. If this isn't a Public Service Message to get people off of drugs and alcohol, I don't know what is. Hopefully Cassidy will stop the madness of substance use once and for all - he's dead very soon, otherwise. Sympathies and best wishes to David Cassidy. Hope he can pull his life together.

      David, by his own admission and that of his friends and family, never used drugs. His mind was "gone", as you put it, because of dementia not alcohol. Dementia robs you of everything that you ever were: we are no more than the collection of our memories and when your memory goes, there is nothing left. I know this, as I have watched my dear Mother suffer - she is now in the late-intermediate stages of the disease. Also, dementia fuels alcohol abuse because people do not even remember if they've had a drink - let alone how many.

      go suck a muffler John you are just hateful if they knew what caused Dementia there would be a cure by now he did have alcohol issues in the past but they do not mean he did not have Dementia or caused it necessarily some people who never drank a drop ended up getting Dementia nobody is immune
