    💔 It broke my heart when I realized he, indeed, was under the influence on this show. First, his speech gave it away...then the looks on the doctors faces. I think they were in shock and disbelief! That could be why they didn't go into that topic of discussion in any depth. I felt so bad for him. Addiction is a lonely illness. Rest in peace David. In my humble opinion. He may have had some mild symptoms of dementia. BUT as a former die hard member of the DC Fan Club, and as a former alcoholic; I cried at this video. David Cassidy is DRUNK on Alcohol. They should have had David blow for a BA level. He admitted he was in denial and lying to himself. Thank you for your talent that brought so much joy to the world. So sad ...he is drunk and high while hes talking on this show...he seemed to live in a state of drunken/high as he aged...despite being married to a wonderful woman and having beautiful kids and fans and family that all cared for him...he obviously had demons that plagued him from the start...he should have been wildly happy that he was the star of a show and adored! But he always seemed to gravitate towards the negative, what he wasnt, what he didnt have...and I imagine that thinking led him to alcohol and drugs and eventually his death. Very tragic...as he was an absolutely beautiful young man, talented and charming with every reason in the world to be happy.

    Seeing someone you love so much suffer with addiction is devastating. You have to be strong and firm with them. When David said his son Beau told him he didn't even know who he was anymore, that made me cry. It's so important to tell the addict how you feel and that must have been so very hard for him to be totally open and honest with his Dad .😢 R.I.P. I think it's really scary how fast a person can decline. I watched a video of David Cassidy performing on Good Morning America around 2002 and the guy looked like a million bucks I mean he was good looking, cool and really had it together. He was in his early 50's then and it looked like he had a good hold on his life. He even looked healthier just 5 years ago and suddenly he winds up like this. In his late sixties and the poor man let his alcohol addiction get the best of him and it killed him. It's very sad.

    If you haven't been keeping up with him then you wouldn't know that he is taking good care of himself and getting the treatment that he needs. He was trying to answer the first question about (What was the moment when he decided that he had enough) and the host interrupted him and changed the subject asking about his other health issue. Once again while David was talking about his eye condition the host jumped in, interrupted him and changed the subject asking about his new Xmas CD. When David was talking about the CD and his band the host cut him off and told him that he wanted to introduce him to someone in the audience. All this in less then 5 minutes and David was very polite and went along with it. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes for 5 minutes the way that people have been judging and pigeonholing him. He's a beautiful man inside and out.

    • @obscurelyvague
      @obscurelyvague 7 лет назад +7

      "Denise Costa" I noticed that the host interrupted when David was talking. It seems that only a certain amount of time was given for the entire interview and the host was trying to control the discussion, and no doubt he was instructed to do so by the producers. Also it could be that the discussion was not supposed to go that far into personal issues and a far reaching exchange about alcoholism. Also it might be that the host and everyone else running the show could see that David was not at his best and preferred that he was terse on all subjects so that his condition does not become more obvious than it already was.

    • @denisecosta2318
      @denisecosta2318 7 лет назад +10

      I saw a very well groomed David Cassidy who was given less then 5 minutes for an interview. He couldn't even catch his breath, breath or swallow before the host was changing the subject on him. David commented on his eye surgery and how different the surgery was years ago opposed to now and wanted to talk about it and you could see how excited he was about wanting to talk about it - got cut right off. Why not just cut off his tongue and everyone just watch him bleed. The interview was more about the 2 girls gushing over him. I just can't believe the rude, nasty remarks about this 5 minute interview that I'm seeing posted here. I'm a very sensitive girl and a rude comment or even a tone of voice could make me feel bad but these comments can make a person want to commit suicide. So I hope everyone is happy now because David just posted on his website yesterday that he will be retiring and will be doing NO more shows after 2017.

    • @blueberrycobbler

      Taking good care of himself? Apparently not given the new news and video of him slurring his words in a recent concert and falling over. The man is seriously in need of help and he needs to want it and change his ways.

    • @obscurelyvague
      @obscurelyvague 7 лет назад +4

      blueberrycobbler Right. On the other hand, don't forget that he has been exploited for a very good part of his adult life. During his heyday, he was forced to perform while sick.He actually said that he was often made to finish a record or do a concert "practically at gunpoint."
      While the exact same pressure is probably not upon him now, he no doubt went back to performing to pay off debts and people he owes, and he can only be a nostalgia act but it has to be squeezed for everything possible.
      It is definitely obvious that he should not be performing anymore due to the fact that he is very sick and I believe even near death. He should quit and focus on getting his health back. I think he wants to .It is not merely that "The alcoholic is not willing." However things being what they are for him, everything amounts to a big roadblock.
      No joke, it seems that he became like his former co-star, Danny Bonaduce, very self destructive. But also David seems to be developing the alcoholism his own father had, and also the dementia that his mother died of.
      I don't know, it might take some very daring and truly caring fans of his to risk their lives and the law, and just kidnap him and tie him up and prevent him from touching alcohol and make sure he takes up healthy habits to rid himself of the addiction.
      Or his half-brothers and step-mother would have to do it.

    I feel badly for him-he was a little before my time but I caught up with older teen mags and videos and saw what a HUGE success he was. He's been on a few different talk shows saying he was working on his sobriety, then he gets arrested again...I really hope he can get thru this...his relationship with his father was tough (Jack Cassidy suffered a tragic death)..David just looks and sounds really rough these days..slurry, out of it, and in some cases on other shows, hostile. And at one point this guy was on top of the world.
    When people here say he looks bad, they are not just talking about "looking old"..addiction can age you and warp you from the inside out, it's exhausting on your body and mind. He doesnt look great...thats just the truth. Not really because of his age but because of the spiritual beating addiction does to people.

    Ok, IMO the dramatic factor going on here is this, and I feel the need to be strict:
    Here is a talk show called ‘The Doctors’. Three doctors around a table waiting for a
    celebrity to come and chat around some personal problems of his, in this case alcohol and eventually drug addiction
    Then - along comes David Cassidy, but …..clearly drunk or medicated, or both! Now, that’s some very serious signals he’s sending out here! I’ve seen earlier interviews where he calmly and frankly talks about his addiction, but also about all the help and support that’s been given him. So things looked promising. And then -
    just some couple of years later he comes to this show in ‘THAT’ condition,
    slurring and yelling (well, most of them were yelling more or less). Things
    seemed very out of control, and I wondered if this whole show was some kind of
    weird irony.
    Somebody please give some serious help to David if he’s not able
    to help himself! I think most of us would love to see him coming on a show like
    this, but then totally sober, restrained, joyful and contemplative. Ok, that
    might be a bit too demanding, but anyway - David, please take care of yourself!!

    He must have passed away and deteriorated very quickly. He was staying active it seems all most till the end. He was most likely taking medications to help with his thinking more clearly and it seems no one gives this a thought. He was very courageous to come out in public and have dementia and so close to the end of his life, he done very well hiding it as long as he did. God bless him.

    • @currybase

      IF, he had dementia apparently it was early stage. He was using dementia as a cover up for his drunkenness'. My mother has demebtia and she doesn't speak and animate like a drunk person does. There is nothing to be ashamed of having dementia, so why you think (if he did have dementia) that made him courageous??

      Winters Rose The people closest to me are medical professionals and I've also had relationships with people who have had this and what I'm talking about is he is I will actually ice I'll say I would be absolutely surprised and more surprised if he was not on a lot of medication the muscle spasms, the the the the strange you know like almost involuntary inflections in the speech and gestures and facial tics that's medication related, I'd almost guarantee it but you know who can say for sure? But you know the thing is, that if it is or if it's just from being like absolutely you know you're all of your nerves and responses destroyed by alcohol, then I would say that you know Elise he's on the road to recovery if it's medication at least he sought something to help through a medical professional. And it sounds like you got counseling or you know went to AAA and he's talking about wanting to get a relationship back with family, so you know he coulda been could be bitter and you know unresponsive and and accusations could've been flying but at least he's trying to do something positive. Hook back up with his family stay sober etc. He probably has until the record in about 300 years. So I'm going to head to who wouldn't have all of that fame and all of that that attention and just because it's gone he says it was grueling, who would not miss being the center of the universe you know how can I not feel empty and away to him? And not even that there's a warm afterglow because it's only in certain you know genre joined a certain demographic, that he's now remembered by all, but it's only in a certain demographic that easy no still a heartthrob in on those three or four people left the can I feel like the millions that were screening for him during the the the partridge Hamily.
      But you know I'm being extreme to prove a point it out of whoever's your left is nothing like a thriving throng of thrilled thoras who thrilled to his trill trillions of tears agi...

      Just because he is almost 70 does not mean he should be a little off or his voice sound as different in the way it does. People in their 70's still have sound minds. I was simply commenting on what seems to be damage from alcohol. I was not criticizing him.

      There are so many viruses now that can age people faster than they would otherwise and that cause trouble to the nervous system, or , prescription happy doctors who give meds that can cause anything from weight gain to nervous system trouble. or it could just be the alcohol catching up with him. But that is true, Many people at 70 are still in good shape if they take care of themselves and if they are lucky, enough not to catch anything like lyme disease. I don't believe in age...only in illness. If someone doesn't look or sound right...it seems that they are sick...not old. Age doesn't have to mean deterioration. We can see this is true because some people have maintained good health , well into their 80's and even 90's. Who remembers Jack La Lane ?

In my 30's my eye started wondering out so i had the surgery to correct that, strabismus. sorry cannot spell that one! Things then seemed to work out for him, therapy, psychiatrists, psychologists, a huge network of help surrounding, him…..and then comes this! The man is drunk or heavily medicated! When they all clapped for him when he announced his Christmas album it was obvious they all wanted to put him in rehab.

      Justin Aames yes he made up for lost time all right! Whatever jack looks like today, i would say you are correct, I bet he looks very much like jack!
      David actually was a pretty good actor in that cop show he did. He hated I heard him say once, that the studio turned him into a piece of fluff on the partridge in a pear tree show. He more than likely has been hitting the psyche meds bottles pretty pretty hard I think but then again, I'm just going by the spaz factor in his features and loopy over exaggerated inflections, but one of us had two hit
      Shows, married the very talented and very hot, hot actress Kay Lenz, had million selling albums and got to work with the great Jim Backus. You're a better man fucked up,
