the external speaker your running is now being made my Barjan now. Actually its my imo my favorite ext speaker. very affordable but very sturdy and loud. i use these speakers on my base radio.
thanx for showing how to add cause I wanted to remove this stupid talkback, and thanx to your video I removed the reister diode and no more stupid talkback
This is another great video. I have done a bunch of talkbacks for a few friends. This last one though has thrown me . 2019 model cobra 29 classic plain jane . Keys about 1 watt mods. To 3 ish. Anyway i hooked it as a variable to the rf gain as i have done many times before also with a 50 ohm resistor. Anyway it it burnt the rf gain switch up i must now replace. Any thoughts on why this would happen .it looks to be a super cheap,o switch . And smells like it was hit with 12 volts.. Again never run into this before now . I think this is the newest radio i have done this on.. It also has a ad203 stinger board in it . I see no reason why that would have any effect in this situation, stinger board is a always on board since the radio dk is so low to run it there is no point in a on off switch. Thanks in advance i hope you share some insights on this. I Really enjoy you videos. I am a fan of a clean rig. 73,s 199 florida georgia line.
Hi, good explanatory video on the talk back feature. So if you use a variable pot, I gather you don't need a 47o resistor, correct? And the pot, would a 50ohm resistance be good? Initially I was thinking of adding an On/Off sw, or if possible, using the ch9 sw,, What say ye.. Thx.
Can anyone tell me is there a way either of these ways work on a cobra 148 gtl dx version as mine has not got a PA output but a CW one instead, it has a Extension output for a speaker but no Pa output, is there way round this????????
if you do not want to remove any front panel controls you can cut out a slot the size of s stick of pc ram on the speaker side of the case in front of the speaker and make a small control box and all add on controls can be installed
I have a Cobra 29 Night Watch LTD Classic and it has a resistor bridged across the pa and external speaker solder points. Will this still allow my PA work if I hook up a PA horn?
I had talk back added to my uniden pc68xl and now my radio doesn't transmit out. I can hear everything, and when I key my mic the meter moves but nothing transmits out. help
Vince Ruland - Yes, direction is very important. You should be able to find guides online about what direction it needs to face in relation to the flow of electricity.
@cbradiomagazine what happens when you use one of those talk back external speakers with a radio that is not compatible like 6 pin RCI's and similar radios?

Good video. How would one know what potentiometer to use?
That's a really nice video cause it´s very simple to do it. i have a RCI-2950DX and my ext.speaker just work as it....What can i do to get talk back?
Can anyone tell me is there a way either of these ways work on a cobra 148 gtl dx version as mine has not got a PA output but a CW one instead, it has a Extension output for a speaker but no Pa output, is there way round this????????
Skip to 4:47 to learn how to add talkback. The rest is ads for their magazine.

can you just use a dual male to one female jack to bridge or will it have horrible quality?
I have an external speaker, would it still work? What if I added a PA speaker later on?
Do you know how to add talkback to a 1984 cobra 40x? I tried this and it didn't work.
I had talk back added to my uniden pc68xl and now my radio doesn't transmit out. I can hear everything, and when I key my mic the meter moves but nothing transmits out. help
I did the 100 OHM but theres no TB on SSB..but sounds great on AM...anything I could do?..thanks for the tip!!
what are the color codes on the resistor? i have a cobra 25gtl i want talk back but dont wanna pay 25.00 at the shop to get it!?
Would this mod work on a Cobra 139 23 Ch base? Resister mod that is.
Noob question, is the resistor directional? I mean, does it matter which side goes where?
Vince Ruland - Yes, direction is very important. You should be able to find guides online about what direction it needs to face in relation to the flow of electricity.
A resistor is non directional
Diodes are direction . not resistors
i have a cobra 29 classic and it has built in talkback but i dont want the talk back how do i get rid of it
I wonder if this works on a cobra 23 plus I wouldn't mind it
How do you buy the universal talk back
I have a uniden pc68 can you show me how to put in roger beep
@cbradiomagazine what happens when you use one of those talk back external speakers with a radio that is not compatible like 6 pin RCI's and similar radios?
Talkback speakers generally won't work with RCI's etc. In that case you may choose to install a talkback board in the radio.
How do I add talkback to cobra 18 without a pa jack?
hi how would you wire a iilumanated toggle switch with risstor 12v
Anyone know if the resistor route will work on a Palomar 49?
I'm going to try it this weekend.
Will this work on a cheap-o Cobra 19 Ultra III ?
Absolutely! Except now you cant walk into Radioshack and buy the resistor
can you add talk back in a cobra 135 xlr could you get back to me asap
