Still loving how all of your tutorials are also beginner friendly for people who have never worked in a medium before. This is a great piece. Were it in my house it'd be out all year round. Love it!
If this was your first try, 😮 holy smokes! Great job, Martina! From the stylized font to your amazing attention to shading, this is simply perfection! Great job!
I love the attention to detail you put into this! It's beautiful. If I wasn't such a scardy to have any form of spirit board in my house, I would add something like this to my collection in a heartbeat!
You might want to try carbon paper (available at art supply stores) or transfer paper (a sewing notion) for transferring your design to the wood. Much easier than the graphite transfer method.
This is really cool! The design is just the right kind of spooky whimsical and the font slaps. The only thing that’s a bit worrying is how food safe the paint and the mod podge are lol
Matinal, This was so beautifully done. Your talents never cease to amaze me. Thanks for sharing this incredible piece. Have a wonderful weekend. Take care n happy crafting
Oh my goodness! I just love anything Halloween. This is wonderful. I love your attention to detail. You are a very talented artist. This make me want to go right out and buy a wood burning kit.
I'm a new subscriber. I've watched a few videos. I LOVE all the ideas and I was looking for some crafts that weren't plastic and cheap looking. I've used a wood burner pretty often and never quite got it down and haven't used it in over a year but I guess I have a reason to now. ~I just watched the ghost in a glass jar. Most people are using plastic for those and they don't have the same visual effect, in my opt.
I really enjoy your tutorials!! Your creativity and talents are inspiring! This piece is visually stunning and super fun for parties! If your a Halloween super fan, like we are, it will be out all year!! Well done!! Thank you!!
So Martina, how is the spirit board at not absorbing liquids? I would have used resin, because pine wood loves to absorb fluids unless it's fully treated... I only ask, because I presume you're actually going to use it for it's intended purpose... a good food grade resin might be a good idea... 🤷♂️ All in all, I think it turned out beautifully and get the feeling you're into ghosts and bats, but I don't want to presume such things! 🤭 I'm curious if you have any suggestions for a project I want to create, and get your thoughts on, but I'll save that for another day! It's late, I'm just about to call it a day! 😴 🖤🏴🦇
I am totally new to this so I used Mod Podge, and I realized that it didn't do much at all. I have got the suggestion about food grade resin and I am looking into that. 😊 I do like all spooky things but yes, ghosts and bats probably are my favorites 😊
@@TheSecretCraftRoom I have only ever done it once, and it was all words with a tiny cabin that I wrote "it is better to live in a full cabin than an empty castle" and gave it away...
Thank you so much! ❤ I am very new to wood burning and I am not sure what they are called, so I used google (and I hope it's right). The one I used for most of the board is a chisel tip or universal tip, and the one I used for the letters and also for the smaller details/shading is a cone point. I just tried the different tips and used the ones I liked most. 😊
@TheSecretCraftRoom thank you so much. You did an absolutely amazing job for a newbie to woodburning. It seems you just have a natural talent for crafting and creating.
I love the art and it's absolutely beautiful, but if you plan on using it with food you should finish with a food grade resin. You appear to be using glued pine which isn't a top choice for charcuterie. It is soft and there can be issues with bacteria and washing. Most wood cutting and charcuterie boards are made from hardwoods and finished with oil or wax or both. There are extra steps like sanding witg 220 grit, spraying with warm water and sanding it again because it makes the grain stand up. I've been getting into wood working and just bought a plunge router. I'm finding that some of the best tutorials for it are cutting boards and charcuterie boards, so I've learned a lot about it recently from wood workers far more experienced than me. Just thought I'd share because it would suck to have that gorgeous peice of art ruined.
Thank you! 😊 Yes, I am completely new to this and I am looking into ways of finish and protect it. I have gotten several recommendations about food grade resin and I am looking into that 😊
Maybe you would do better to use a different color ink when tracing out the pattern onto wood. I don't know about you, but I *always* manage to leave something out when I try to work with transfer paper, no matter how careful I think I'm being. If you use a different colored pen to trace out the design, it might make it harder to accidentally leave out any drawing details.
As much as i love Halloween or your video's and decoration, there is no way in my life that i will make an ouijaboard and hang it. I had too much experiences on the wrong side.. I'll pass.
this belongs on any high end halloween decor website. an absolute triumph

I would hang this on my wall as a piece of art. Absolutely beautiful!

For real I’d be afraid to actually serve anything on it and mess it up, I’d have to frame it lol
Stunning! What a beautiful piece! Your free hand at the bark of the trees was amazing, I really admire your patience to details. 👌
Very, very cool!
They still make carbon paper. This was used on the old typewriters, to make letter duplicates. It's great for tracings ans can be reused.
Just so beautiful 😍
Beautiful and old fashioned whimsical ❤
I love the attention to detail you put into this! It's beautiful. If I wasn't such a scardy to have any form of spirit board in my house, I would add something like this to my collection in a heartbeat!
This is really amazing! I would have to have a Halloween party just to show off this cheeseboard!

No way I'm making this myself, but people would probably pay you a lot of money for one!
Nice but I associate an Ouija board with portals to something not good.
It's not being used as one, so it's just a wooden board 😊
👻 😈
Very cute. But don't fiddle around with an ouigi board. Be sure to close it. It's an occult board; you may "ask"something you don't want around 😮
It's not going to be used as a spirit board 😊
