  • Our first roadtrip through New Mexico draws to an end as we push towards our final planned destination. In the meantime, we take some side trips and spur-of-the-moment stops for fun.
After several days on the road traveling east visiting the Catwalk Recreation Area and Carlsbad Caverns, it was time to return west and head back in the direction of home. But first, we made the most of our time and stopped at some random locations along the way.
After spending several hours in Carlsbad Caverns, we made an impromptu visit to Roswell. When in New Mexico, I guess? Videos and photographs don't lie... there is alien-inspired EVERYTHING here!
After spending one last night in Carlsbad, we set off east and climbed in elevation through the Lincoln National Forest. We just had to stop and feel the cool air before returning back to the hot desert. What we found was the Sleepy Grass Picnic Area where we took a moment to stretch our legs and admire the beautiful pine trees.
Soon it was back into warmer temps and a number of signs beckoned to us from across our travels - McGinn's PistachioLand. Never to turn down an opportunity to stand next to a giant nut, we took a moment to check the place out and purchase a bag of pistachios for ourselves. Definitely some of the freshest we've tasted!
After a long morning of driving and stops along the way, we made it to White Sands National Park... or Monument... or... place. We'll address that next week so be sure to tune in for our last episode from our New Mexico roadtrip! Thanks for tagging along with us! You've been great company!

Great video. Planning on heading to NM in October and going to try to hit that pistachio stand at the least. Thanks for pointing out the Rambo mural too. Totally missed it when we were in that area earlier in the year.

Thanks! The Rambo mural has been something we've been trying to work into a trip for quite some time so thankfully it made it in this one. And the pistachio place is absolutely a must visit!

GASP! He didn't even bring any home for me! Clearly Glenn has no taste. I would have definitely gone for those. Although just looking now I see I can order from them. Muahaha!

You didn't miss much at the UFO museum in Roswell. Not well organized and last I was there was not updated either.

Still seemed a shame not to go into at least one place were the chance available but yeah... hopes weren't super high to be bowled over. 😅

@@CactusAtlas I agree! I also like going to small town museums if nothing else for the kitschy vibe.

Same! And there's usually that one thing somewhere tucked in a corner that seems extra strange too.
