I don't think they mentioned it in the video but Mexico city was the birth place of the muralism movement. The murals/street art that is so prolific throughout cities across the world began here with artists such as Diego Rivera. It's a crucial piece of information to contextualize the this architectural project. If you're ever in Mexico City you can see some beautiful preserved murals done by Rivera at the Palacio Nacional for free :-)
Imagine being one of the Kirsten and Nicolas kids and your parents tell you to pack a bag to go see a Twitter inspired artist’s tiny billboard home. You’d be like, huh? What a life!
I loved seeing your kids exploring with you this time! What a treat to see them! They are lucky to have parents like you who explore and engage with so many interesting people and communities all over the world!
What happened? The house was featured probably less than a minute... Was eager to see what she was able to make of a small space next to a billboard (rather than all the other things, nice as they were, that was shown).
This has got to be the coolest video out there. Such a fantastic idea! The Artists in Mexico are rich with culture and design. Thank you so much for taking us on this ride! ♥️♥️♥️
What a fascinating culture and society! Mexico has always been under the shadow of the US. But this country is beautiful and diverse! Thank you for taking us along to see a small part of its culture!
Those kids are going to have a very fulfilling lifes. They have been traveling the world, seeing so many different cultures and ways of life, all before the age 12. HOF parenting right here 👌
Your children are getting an enviable education. So many experiences. I'm grateful I traveled the USA as a child (adult, too). It made me who I am today. Your kids are traveling the world! 👍🏻
I always had a weird fantasy whenever we’d drive through highways and over passes in cities and I’d stare at billboards wondering if there was enough space in between it or behind it to live in it and watch cars pass by without them knowing they’re looking inside a home. I can’t believe someone’s done it. Anything really is possible
I loved the editing, following the narrator through the maze of the museum to find the billboard surprise at the end. We got to be curious exploring kids just like you!
They just showed 1 neighbourhood Polanco. It is one of the most expensive and cleanest areas in Mexico City. Go to the north or east and then tell me if you still think its a beautiful city. Plus we have daily air pollution here so bad you cannot see couple blocks ahead. Besides that yes it is a nice city.
I've seen the other side of Mexico City, accidentally and yes safety was a concern. But, overall the experience was a pleasure, food, shopping, restaurants and the markets. Lovely City
Lol, First! I would have loved the combo of tiny home & being up so high with the terrace & sun bathing parts! I wouldn't have wanted to come down, and just keep putting up blank billboard fronts to keep painting. Artist's dream for me!
I like the idea of a work of art that different people can live in and work on so that it constantly changes. You could permanently remove sections that could be deemed explicit and timelapse it as an allegory for censorship.
Wish this was more about the living space than the art or history of said art. Every shot of the living space was hit with a massive sun glare. Eye can look at art or go to a museum.....how many times could eye go in a billboard house?
The lady met a prince on a white horse and lived happily ever after. He whisked her away from her cool billboard digs and they now live in a large castle they bought for only a dollar and it has a real moat.
I want to go to this museum! ... And they should have let her live there as long as she wanted. It will be cool if there could be another billboard art project for her.
Are you still here in CDMX? I've been your follower since years ago and is an honour that you're visiting us, have fun and don't forget to visit Xochimilco, El espacio escultorico in Ciudad Universitaria and Jamaica market.
I'd argue she did a 2week residency on site, working vacation. Anyone have the account archived of the tweets used for inspiration? Seems more a record of early twitterverse than 'tiny' home in a high place. The suspended tea rooms are still being used (I suspect). Whereas this came down on the 3rd & 4th week. Did it get a Clio? & 99percentinvisible.org/episode/billboard-boys-the-greatest-radio-contest-of-all-time/
In México there's nothing like working vacation...it's work or it's not...she work for the company Scribe on the project...just like that...no offense but it's just work, marketing work...
Looks like it's just a water reservoir (aka "Tinaco" ), could have been connected to the city's water supply or to the main water reservoir of the building
Hmmm thought it was some Tiny Home meets the advertising world. Imagine a person purchases a billboard "home" and rents the billboard space to advertisers...no idea how that would properly be zoned though.
Very cool project and idea, but video was kinda hecktic to me, very hard to follow. Probably the hardest to watch. Wish it was a little bit more structured
I wish they could have kept the house, I hope someone got it. It's weird that the first scene of the toy museum showed a little scene of a pimp and a naked woman looking very happy. I like that tiny home though, it looks so comfortable.
This video was all over the place, not sure what it was trying to get across. Zero wow factor, maybe the museum, but seemed like this video was trying to be an ad campaign of too many things, sorry.
I have always loved your videos. Not this one. I'm actually dissapointed. I trust you'll be back to you regular high-quality work next week. Best to you and your family.

Lovely! Beautifully presented. Beautiful story.
At 8:18... One of the rare times this effect was done so beautifuly and apropriately. Great job!
Love Mexico City! Such a creative place. This project is cool.

Mexico City is so beautiful. The street art is amazing all around the City scape. A really nice story here, thank you Kirsten.

Mexico city is not beautiful at all, it is so horrible compared with other Mexican places, you need to travel more.
Te amo Mexico. But I don’t know much about it. really. Thanks for this.

That museum was amazing
billboard house was a design studio project for a few years in the early 90's at Auburn University School of Architecture
This is awesome! I am fascinated by youth and the creative, unique world they are composing--despite the bitter notes.
Love from India ❤️❤️
I love the idea of tiny house
And one day would like to live in one. 👍👍
Really interesting. Love the new channel graphics too. Really well done.
Thanks for the video and keep up the great work.

Maybe next, the billboard will be the interior walls of the living space...?
"Eye" instead of "I", how original, how unique.
I remember this! It had a whole tv add and I remember I used to find this house so cool probably my very first seeing a tiny house
Kirsten, your children are living magical lives. :)
thsi billboard is cool but what happened to that lady afterwards? Why was the billboard taken down ?
The lady met a prince on a white horse and lived happily ever after. He whisked her away from her cool billboard digs and they now live in a large castle they bought for only a dollar and it has a real moat.

Would like to know more about the barrel mounted in the rooftop tower that provides plumbing.

Erik Thanks!
Before going, did you know you would be showcasing an ad campaign and the brand of the company being advertised?
Personally, I feel like the narration interferes with the tranquil and contemplative aesthetic of your usual videos.
Hmmm thought it was some Tiny Home meets the advertising world. Imagine a person purchases a billboard "home" and rents the billboard space to advertisers...no idea how that would properly be zoned though.
You'd have a ringside seat to watch Popocatepetl going off! 🌋
So many talented people
I really like Mexican artistic sensibilities. Their characters have a fun cute esthetic similar to Japanese Kawaii.
So awesome 👍
8:44 de donde es el acento del que habla en el min 8:44? suena distinto
Suena como argentino o chileno

Can an apartment be made at the back of that crappy billboard on that mostly vacant building on Logan Square in Chicago?
(Asking for a friend.)
Fraile Tormenta must be the inspiration for Nacho Libre. 😉 👏
-1 too many ads - there's an ad every minute, fair companies? it's enough already
You don't know Adblock?
That's some super hero hide out sh*t right there
Really cool
No Covid ? Those were the days ...

Like just because it's Mexico. I was curious about the inside of the house.
Love it!
I was hoping they interviewed the actual artist
My husband guessed Polanco or thereabouts because only in the richest parts of the city would someone be allowed to do something like that.
👍👍👍👌♥️
according to latest video news from mexico, they still practice the ancient mayan tradition of taking out the heart alive, even eating it
She needs to paint all that dam O S B .
Interesting how many people asked for animals. I wonder if that was part of the prompt. I like the rabbit DJ.
Something about this...
I wanted to see the micro apartment not a documentary about Mexican art.
