Giving into the love. It's sooo good. The music video is a masterpiece. Cure for me live is also beautiful but the audio version is more "popy"
I find it so strange that people are so preoccupied by her voice all almost everyone just talk about how sweet this song is! People seem to miss out on her fantastic and very deep lyrics and storytelling. And english is not even her native language. This is a song about brutal reality but put in a pretty wrapping. She does that on purpose, she loves the contrast of the dark story to a sweet performance. Aurora is the best. I Love her - how she does not give a dam about normative and is totally authentic and the most real person there is. She is a rarity. The best ever has been.
People throw "the best" around. I think music is subjective. Granted I haven't heard enough of her yet.
I usually breakdown lyrics on the channel but you have to realize when you go into a reaction blind with no knowledge of the artist, their sound, their look, it's a lot of new elements to take in. And sometimes, at first watch/listen there's one thing that may take your attention. It happens.
This performance was in Feb. 2019 when Aurora was still 22 years old. She is now 27 as of June 15. The studio where this was filmed/recorded is Minnesota Public Radio - 89.3 The Current. Aurora is a singer/songwriter from Bergen, Norway. She has be actively performing since 2014.
I'm over 60 and she is my favorite artist. True artist. Gifted beyond compare.❤

Aurora is a top-5 artist for me, particularly her live performances. I'd love to see her team up with Ren sometime - they're both excellent storytellers and are very good at making the listener feel a thing.

It's great you appreciate the talent even if the song isn't in your wheelhouse. She is my all time favorite multi talented artist, she is authentic, quirky and really a great human being. I appreciate your honest reaction! Not all her stuff is slow like this. She has many different styles. If you want to check out something more up-tempo, I'd suggest "All Is Soft Inside" at KEXP Iceland 2018, or "Under the Water" live at the Honda Stage.
Thanks for the rational response. Not all music is for everyone. We can not all like the same music but agree when someone is talented.
I feel that you didn’t give the song a chance, with Aurora the lyrics are important.
She would love to have long hair, but she can’t stand it. So she left it long in the front, and she cut it herself with a pizza scissor.
I would say her clothing here is more Japanese style.
She usually buy second hand clothes, and her sister is a designer so she, and often Aurora, makes her clothing.
This song was inspired by domestic violence, she gets killed, and in the end she comes back to haunt him.
She has no problem with letting her band mates shine.

Didn't I commend her on the song in the video. One cannot like the style of music and still resonate with the lyrics. I've always been extremely honest about the fact that I don't like everything nor do I pretend to. But I can still find positive things even and stuff I may not resonate with.

Aurora Aksnes, Norwegian singer, songwriter (lyrics and music), music producer born in Summer 1996. Her musical palette is wide and really varied, at all level, so you should find songs that you can enjoy. On top of that, she sometimes reinterprets her songs (mood, tempos, instrumentations...) in specific concerts, or live sessions, so she has live versions quite different:

She also sings the theme in the Nextlix series "One Piece", in the BBC Frozen Planet 2, in the game "Assassin's Creed", in Walt Disney "Dumbo" and the list goes on and on ....
She also snag a part in. Frozen 2 if I'm not mistaken.
Each of her songs is different, a softness song, a powerful song, a love song, a sad song and more. even cover songs she made as her own song. You need to check it out :)
And yes she is the voice in Frozen 2, she also has her own version of the song "Into the unknown"

Re the comments about her hair, Aurora says that she doesn't like people to touch her face/head, so she cuts her hair herself most of the time (using a huge pair of kitchen scissors that she also uses on pizza) and one of her older sisters, Miranda, is her make up artist (her other older sister Viktoria designs many of Aurora's outfits).
I love that her style is unique. A lot of people thought I was making fun but I really was just trying to comment on her unique sense of style.
Aurora often has unplugged versions of a lot of her upbeat tracks and can mix it up a lot.

... there really are so many though. Her discography is extensive spanning more than 10 years. Though I've recommended a few mvs, Aurora's vocals are actually better live than in studio recordings. I think she feeds off the audience energy TBH. She began writing songs at 6 yrs old. She has released songs she wrote when she was 9 yrs old. She's the whole package - co-produces all of her work. She owns her own art ever since she was 18 yrs old - relentlessly refuses to compromise it and still gets produced. Incredible. She's not just a vibe, she is an experience.
Another prodigy on our hands. I, hopefully, will be getting to her soon.

Her Life On Mars at the Howard Stern show is great, it was in July 2016, but many people agree with me that another version of the cover that she did is even better from March 2016. If you search for Aurora Life On Mars, it is on channel NRK with 4.5M views.
Btw she was 22 (close to 23) in this performance on March 1st 2019, not 26. She is 27 now since June 2023.

@@mcflyjp I guess he was thinking "more up beat". Being mostly metal, I wouldn't say she has mainstream songs, even if several of them are not really for me in their album version (but they have reinterpreted live versions that are mindblowing to me)
Aurora's got some upbeat songs as well (though, these slow ballads are her greatest, she's truly in her element when she's singing a dark emotional song live.)

You can only go off of what you see because that's the first sense to be acquainted. People seem to be upset that I said some things about Aurora and that's fine. But what did I say about the song? Even though it's not my cup of tea I have her her props.

Murder Song is... NOT to be missed but it's another slow one (VERY different than this one), maybe circle back to catch it afterwards if you catch a faster-paced one next that you find makes you want to keep going with her material.

Queen Bee is japanese band, in that performance are only two members, vocalist Avu-chan and guitarist Hibari-kun. You can turn on english subs there. I think it's very interesting for musician to react. ;)
