NBA needs a promotion and relegation system to have these teams and players caring. Without the fear of promotion the money is always going to be there. Why care if you can be entitled? There's no consequence to poor performance or unavailability
The current NBA reminds me of being in high school, having a big game the next day and doing a light practice to go over plays followed by some easy going five on five. The NBA is stuck in easy five on five mode, and yet they still need load management.
Tbh the Celtics are one of the only “watchable” teams in todays NBA. They play as a true team, everyone plays defense, no egos, no flopping and no load managing! I really don’t understand why more people don’t appreciate the Jays 🍀

It wasn't just narrative that made people pick Dallas to win. The West was a much tougher conference, and Dallas looked very impressive winning the West. Boston looked good as well, but it was hard to tell if they looked good because their competition was weak, or if they were just that dominant. I also picked Dallas to win, but I said I just don't know about Boston. They may be great, but it's hard to judge them until I see them play against real competition. After game 2, it was clear that Boston was as great, if not better, than advertised. There's nothing wrong with having to see it to believe it.
Why is it SOOO many clips show them traveling?! No matter the channel. No matter the team. It’s like the rules are so relaxed that they don’t care anymore.

Spot on video some this also parallels with soccer too. I would also add that the addition of sports betting adds another layer of superficiality to the game which makes people consume it in a fickle fashion
It’s an interesting time for a returning basketball fan. Stopped watching in ‘02 after game 6 WCF only to be piqued by CC. Start paying attention to the nba and all I hear is “excuse”, “excuse”, “flagrant 1 for farting”. When did the NBA turn into FIFA?
Same thing here. Stopped in '03, restarted watching in '15. Watched Lebron a few games and thought "THAT is your best player??"... Plus: travelling, ball-carrying, flopping, no more defense, way too many 3s...
@@xv6701 For me, it`s close between the traveling and the palming of the ball when dribbling. I honestly don`t know if there is literally one single player in the NBA that can dribble WITHOUT palming/carrying the ball.
I used to play ball for hours on end when I was younger. In the rain, in crazy heat, even in the snow. Cause I loved it. Id shoot around by myself if I couldn't find a game. And obviously I wasn't getting paid millions. The NBA needs players who actually love basketball cause right now it's obvious there is a big % of players who only care about the fame and $$$.
The NBA and a lot of professional players across other leagues live by the moto of how can I make the most amount of money while putting in the least amount of work. I thank LeBron for this drama queen league we have today.
In the early 2000s they were on Iverson about missing practice. In 2024 it's expected you miss games. These guys are more athletic as a whole than any generation but if the cost is your stars only play 70% of their games, is it really a better product?
HEAT fan here....hate the Celtics....they are far from boring. I may not love the 50 3s a game, but they generate those looks mostly off ball movement. I can respect that, and their two stars dont take games off.
After Kobe Bryant winning the 2010 championship, til 2014-2015, the league was good. Steph Curry, LBJ era started to be a bit more of an issue for the league. 3 points shooting was the new era, defense is there but watered down. Guys are good but the commitment is not there at this point. Play 82 games, playoffs til the end of season. People paid for your salaries, put on a show every night.
Zion aside, I think this youngest gen does actually care about not sitting out. They seem tougher than LeBron's era of players. Ant, Ja, Brunson, Paolo, etc. These kids wanna play tough, and they wanna win.
Zion played 70 games last year and he started off slow but as the year went on he got much better. And by the play in he was dropping 40 til of course he got hurt. Just tonight he had almost 30 by the 3rd quarter. A healthy zion IS A FRANCHISE PLAYER. It’s just an arm and a leg to get him on the court
You are speaking from my heart. I am from Germany and besides NBA of course I love soccer. Here you still have got a favourite team and within this team you have got a favourite player. If this player then fanfers to a different team then the next time you might still have some admiration for him but on the pitch he is enemy #1 for 90 minutes. I never understood this whole 'follow the player fandom' of the NBA. Also the game itself has become a spectacle of inflationary high scores, dunks, alley-oops and threes but lost a lot of the competitiveness it had e.g. in the 90s. Almost like watching the Harlem Globetrotters playing the Harlem Globetrotter. Spectacular but unfortunately boring. My new gems in the game are aggressive TEAM defense plays (if the refs allow it) or blocks (and I do not mean gallery chase-downs)...
Right. Because fans being devoted to Messi, Cristiano , Ronaldinho no matter what team they play for isn't seen in soccer.😂. It happens in soccer, fiba basketball, handball..
@vlada Those are not proper examples as when they have changed teams usually they also have changed leagues/countries as well. Means they only compete in Champions League at best so rarely they meet their former clubs. And now people easily can still follow them as they are beyond their prime playing in insignificant leagues. But believe me: there may be exceptions but the club ALWAYS is bigger than the player. That is also why it is not possible to move clubs/franchises from one city to another. Fans world simply boycott the clubs.
MJ on the bench at 5:43... the man was an owner billionaire and you can feel the pain that he's experiencing not being able to play anymore and being down 20. No player today has that pain while they're sitting out.
Yet again, another perfect video, bro you’re the best it’s true. None of these guys are really trying to show up and it is like WWE straight storylines.
Joel embiid situation is crazy, How many other people played in the Olympics and are ready for the season? You don’t just get to sit on the sidelines and build your body for the whole season just to enter for the playoffs while everyone else has to scrap the whole season. This is absolute bullshit and definitely should be addressed by the league. It’s unfair to Philadelphia fans. It’s unfair to his teammates and if that’s the case, why doesn’t every star just do this?
Like bootsysanders said I used to love the NBA I couldn't go without it and over the summer was brutal. I became a fan in like 1983 and watched all the way to 2022ish. At one point I don't think I missed a televised game on TNT or ESPN and I never missed a Piston game on local TV for 40yrs. Now I can't watch it I can't believe I can literally go without watching the NBA. Just to make sure I tried to watch the other Day and couldn't make it pass 2minutes. Damn it's over. I never watched baseball but I'm watching Yankees vs dodgers now crazy right! I don't think the NBA now is even the same game I think it needs another name besides basketball. Softball is already taken, I'll work on it.
Woah I caught that! 2:12, the late Jason Robards... Happy Halloween! For those unaware, he was in the theatrical version of "Something Wicked This Way Comes" 🎃
It’s hard to keep up with this era of the NBA. Nobody plays defense like divas and most of them can’t even score consistently. You don’t know if a player is going to give you 20 points or 2 points each night.
There's a simple fix. Make it so nba players only get paid for games they play/healthy to play. They get x amount of paid sick days per year like every other job. If you exhaust those days you don't get paid. Those days include all 365 days. So if you get 10 days sick leave per year and you're sick 8 days during practice etc, then you only get 2 game days to be sick
One of the reasons why predictions matter so little: they’re multiple choice. If it’s who will win a game/series, you have a 50/50 chance on a coin-flip. Even if it’s who will win the title at the start of the postseason, despite there being 16 teams in the bracket, there are *usually* only about 4-5 teams (tops) that have a real shot at winning… And a LOT of sports fans now just cover the spread and “predict” every possible outcome only to then disown/delete the incorrect ones from their social media history when they’re wrong.
The NBA has become nothing more than a glorified Rucker park streetball fest with no defense, tons of palming and traveling violations, no competitiveness (until the playoffs) and no rivalries because Lebron ruined that when he teamed up with Wade and Bosh at Miami. Lebron is the one who made it ok for KD to quit on his team and fan base in OKC and join the team that he couldn't beat because he wanted to win championships the easy way instead of competing. It really is unwatchable for the most part.
I enjoy college basketball a lot now it’s way better now, big men banging down low in the post not shooting a lot of jump-shots or 3s, it’s more competitive + ball movement is beautiful and most important they play “DEFENSE”.
I live in London, I stayed awake late to watch some of the WNBA finals and they play better basketball than the NBA. This season I will watch Euroleague, the NBA is unwatchable by now
If clubs are stupid enough to continue to pay old, injury prone players max contracts. I'm not going to blame the players, I'm blaming the clubs. If they stopped paying Kawhi, Joel, Zion, or any of the others and concentrated on bringing forward younger, hungrier guys, maybe the league would be in a better place.
I feel like if you follow NBA media you should read Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky. They're practically reading from it and implementing the described machine.

As a former high school basketball player in 2010, my favorite player was Iman Shumpert and i played defense just like him. But thats around the same time i stopped watching NBA religiously. After lebron started switching teams, it started to feel cheap
Adam Silver, aka Nosferatu aka Voldemort. 😅
Dude looks like he's been undergoing chemo the last 10 years.
LeBron killed the nba and Silver hammered the last nail in the coffin
it can make a comeback.. The optics are bad right now tho
Stern Did Rigging 3 Titles for Kobe. LeBronze is just the Conclusion of Sterns Greedy Evil Ass. That's why The God's of Basketball stepped in and Killed Stern and Kobe 20 days apart in 2020. Hope those Fake Titles don't Burn in Hell Kobe and Stern.
What did LeBron do in this scenario anyways, if it's about games played then he's been one of the best in the league about that still tbh
@@DonSMDT nice try kid. There’s no way you just said that with a straight face.
Come on, no way Silver could swing a hammer! He definitely holds the nails for the hammerers though.
I remember when professional athletes were comparable to superheros.
The NBA is on its last legs.. It's so crazy to think how the game got worse as the players gained more power and money.
I will never understand why they get paid more to do less
Tbh the Celtics are one of the only “watchable” teams in todays NBA. They play as a true team, everyone plays defense, no egos, no flopping and no load managing!
I really don’t understand why more people don’t appreciate the Jays 🍀
Modern NBA fans are not really student of the game. They are more of player worshippers and cheerleaders.
I seen Jayson tattum , brown , Derrick white and some Celtics flop. Everything else I agree . I don’t like Boston but I know they are good but I don’t like to admit it
The Cavs are nice to watch, with passing better than the Celtics and incredible play on both sides of the court.
It's a three point shooting contest with no defense. And if it does not go in - just walk around with your big fat smile and say "it's just a baskeball".
But they are more skilled and athletic according to their new standard.
Soft narratives league.
@@daiblaze1396 kids will say anything
They should stop over paying these guys! Or treat it like a regular 9-5. You don’t come to work. You don’t get paid. Shits ridiculous now a days.
Uncut hoops, long time subscriber here... please don't EVER change your background music. What's the name of the song btw?
The looping melody coupled with your casual commentary, ngl, creates a hypnotic effect! Cheers
The NBA
1960's - 1970's = The Golden Era
1980's - 1990's = The Attitude Era
2000's - 2010's = The Ruthless Aggression Era
2020's = The PG Era
That works pretty damn well actually.
Nah don’t lump the 2000s together with the 2010s
That's perfect.
meh
2020s is the AAU era. There are no true PGs left in the game, not one.
You said it better. That WWE vibe. When LeBron became the top scorer. The game stopped. His team losing, it was pathetic.
Why is it SOOO many clips show them traveling?! No matter the channel. No matter the team. It’s like the rules are so relaxed that they don’t care anymore.
I already caught 3 double dribbles week 1
@@fobinc I remember back in the day watching games and I was so into it I recorded them on VHS and I’d go back and check on the calls. They were pretty infrequent, but they were always dead on right and now they just don’t care? The defense, the play, the gripes, the amount of games. It just feels like a LOT of complaints by MILLIONAIRES which feels really shitty as a thousandaire who busts his ass at work and doesn’t play a game I love for a living.
Ben this way for years that's complete with hundreds of 3's makes it unwatchable
The "NBA fan Vs NBA follower" point was gold. Keep up the good work.
Today most players are so full of themselves that it's the only thing they have in them. No one cannot post, slash(without traveling). Less physical, No defense and flopping is becoming normal.
My era: Iverson, Kobe, Shaq, T Mac, Carter, Ray Allen, KG, Duncan, Dirk, C Webb, Kidd, Steve Francis Nash, Truth, Wade, Bron, Melo, Gil, Cp3.. I miss my era.
Fire Morey. For paying $100m for 2 of his stars not to play.
I miss the days of giants battling for rebounds, and the amazing shot creators that existed before defense was stripped from the league
Love the opening.
Jokic is the man .
“They not like us.” -KG
Man if i kept getting "sick" at my job without proof id get fired but nba can make millions and still call out playing only 2 quarters of the year
Spot on video some this also parallels with soccer too. I would also add that the addition of sports betting adds another layer of superficiality to the game which makes people consume it in a fickle fashion
National Babies Association.
NO Boys Allowed
It’s an interesting time for a returning basketball fan. Stopped watching in ‘02 after game 6 WCF only to be piqued by CC. Start paying attention to the nba and all I hear is “excuse”, “excuse”, “flagrant 1 for farting”.
When did the NBA turn into FIFA?
Flagrant 1 for farting. 😂😂😂
Same thing here. Stopped in '03, restarted watching in '15. Watched Lebron a few games and thought "THAT is your best player??"...
Plus: travelling, ball-carrying, flopping, no more defense, way too many 3s...
Don`t forget the techs for clapping.
@@RichardRennes the absolute worst for me is the traveling. Players are taking 5+ steps and getting away with it.
It’s just an arm and a leg to get him on the court
we done with the 90s
if it wasn't for Jokic there'd be ZERO reason to watch modern NBA
@@chrisuncleahmad666 all the other 50-win teams are 3-point merchants who flame out in the playoffs.
The thing no one seems to recognize is that load management and coasting literally doesn’t nor has it ever worked
I try to watch the NBA every season and by November I’m already not interested until the playoffs 😂😂😂
Damn…”NBA follower“ is a bar.
Great video!!!
I basically stopped watching around 2019. No contact, not physicality, no fight. This style of basketball isn't enjoyable to watch.
Once the league banned hand checking before the start of 2004-05 season the league becomes a 🤡 world.
6:06 Busted Starscream upside the head with an energon cube🤣
That got me too 😂
Woah I caught that! 2:12, the late Jason Robards... Happy Halloween! For those unaware, he was in the theatrical version of "Something Wicked This Way Comes" 🎃
There is no more debate... 😭🤣🤣
There is no such thing as a "modern era" superstar.
Best three nba players: Jokić, Iannis, Luka compete every time theyre on floor.
Even if it’s who will win the title at the start of the postseason, despite there being 16 teams in the bracket, there are *usually* only about 4-5 teams (tops) that have a real shot at winning…
And a LOT of sports fans now just cover the spread and “predict” every possible outcome only to then disown/delete the incorrect ones from their social media history when they’re wrong.
Bronny getting more coverage than Paulo is madness.
This generation will go all out for social media models tho. 😂
When anyone has shades on a dimly lit podcast in the middle of the day you know this man was higher than a kite.
This season I will watch Euroleague, the NBA is unwatchable by now
I blame Kawhi for all of this
If clubs are stupid enough to continue to pay old, injury prone players max contracts. I'm not going to blame the players, I'm blaming the clubs.
If they stopped paying Kawhi, Joel, Zion, or any of the others and concentrated on bringing forward younger, hungrier guys, maybe the league would be in a better place.
Steph, Luka, Giannis, Jokic, ANT, Tatum, Booker, SGA etc. The soft guys suck but the guys who aren't win.
Today’s NBA: can we work only part-time from now on?
I think basketball is regressing as a sport. It is getting worse and worse.
If contracts had a games played clause with only a percentage guaranteed kinda like the NFL, I could promise these guys would play
I feel like if you follow NBA media you should read Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky. They're practically reading from it and implementing the described machine.
I’ll start watching again soon as the babies retire.
Facts 💯🎯It's a hard truth but it's the reality now unfortunately.I remember walking past the TV hearing that NBA jingle before a game and the excitement was through the roof, now it doesn't even move the needle.Crazy times.😢
Watch soccer? 2x45 minute periods of BF4 combat
Don't compare eras anymore. League went downhill when Bron went to Miami
Casual 😂😂😂
It’s the cupcake era
