On my Clam I used small carabiners tied to the tie down cord. This allows me to unclip the tie down, drop the wall in to place and then re-clip the tie down. This being done in seconds, saving time when it's pouring rain out.
Nice idea! Bibs. Thank you I will include it in the future. Thank You for watching. Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweemsvideos SUBSCRIBE ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems
First thank you for all of your great videos on the gear that you use. I have been camping for 50 years and I still learn something everytime I look at one of your videos. BTW - I know that you are a tear drop camper - but your information is useful to my wife and I in our class B. Now to my question on this video - I bought a Clam Quick Set based on your videos ... on this one you mention a metal clip that attaches to the hub ... no details provided ... I cannot find this item anywhere. Do you have more details?
Hi Carl I would love to help. I do not see mention of a clip. I did show stainless steel hooks. Could that be what you are referring to? If not then send the the time point in the video you are referring to and I will check it out. Hooks (very useful) amzn.to/3GXeFpC 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅
Thanks Carl. That metal loop comes built in with the Clam Shelter. I have the Traveler, Sky and Venture. All of them have it. I did not buy anything extra or install anything. It is used to hold out the hub/wall in wind with a rope. What model do you have? =Cosmo
@@CosmoWeems Cosmo - sorry it took so long to reply. I have the 11.5 x 11.5 Traveler(I think) in green. Anyway set it up again and now see the metal "hooks" you mention. i set up in the rain this past weekend in the poconos. asyou report the shelter provided excellent cover even without the sides ( heavy rain but no wind ). i am looking into the rainfly option for addition roof protrction plus it seems to give additional material over the attactment for the side panels. will report back.
You should put the half wall up under so no rain will fill the panel-still can hook it up. Also, roll the panels under & up to keep any rain rolling off.
Thanks Rhonda I will give it a try! Thank You for watching. Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweemsvideos SUBSCRIBE ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems
Excellent video my Clam shelter just arrived today FedEx. I'm anxious to set it up tomorrow to see how big the 12x12 looks. Thanks really enjoy your videos and helpful suggestions. Robert from Henderson, NV.
Nice Robert. Not sure which model you purchased. I have a traveler and a Sky with another model coming soon. Adds a lot of living space to the trailer. I also used it several times in the back yard to entertain last summer at safe social distance with plenty of air flow. Looks like this summer will be using it again to keep the virus at a safe distance. Ha ha ha. Regards =Cosmo
My clamshell tent arrived today Very disappointed. I don't know how they did it But that thing was packaged inside out when I went to set it up The fabric was all twisted up I managed to get most of it untwisted but still have one leg to go after two hours probably would be easier with two people to get this thing untwisted but hopefully I get it tomorrow otherwise I have to send it back I don't want to break it.
Im trying to visionate what is happening. Inside out? Something is not right There are many videos of this thing going up. Mine takes about a min to get up. Its the easiest structure I have put up to date. Good Luck! =Cosmo
They do look like they are inside out when they arrive, but if you follow the instructions & stand it on its hub like an upside down umbrella, it will fall open properly. Unless someone else messed it up & sent it back all messed up, and you were unlucky enough to get that one. 😫 Quick Set has a very good instructional video on RUclips.
@@freedomartwork6950 I received my first clam and it was all messed up as well.. looked like a return, had foot prints on it even... was 12 footer and I could not set it up, small frame female 5 foot 3 and I didn't have the strength or height to push up the center... returned and got an obviously brand new venture and this time have no prob with set up and take down... absolutely love it and had to sleep in it one night due to water probs in my tent.. slept on air mattress and slept like a baby....like it even better than my old tent....
Thanks for the shout-out, Cosmo. Those seams *definitely* need sealed on the Venture and Traveler models. I was testing it first because I was hopeful that I wouldn't need to do it but it's really just best to seal them right when you take the Clam out of the box. It's just like a tent, only bigger and nicer. They do use seam tape but it's obviously not enough protection. I'm glad you decided to give the rings a chance for the tie-outs. I think it may even say in the manual that those are your lash points. The handles are just for pulling out the side walls. Great video. I'm glad to see you had a nice trip and were able to stay cool with that new fan. I love my Boundless Breeze. Thanks again for the suggestion. 🕊😘

Here's what we did with the smallest 4 sided clam. Sealed roof seams, sprayed roof with silicone water proofing, covered roof with aluminet and placed a tennis ball on center roof eye and used foam pool noodles to create space between aluminet and roof to prevent heat build up and allow air flow, sprayed screening with permethrin. Also purchased clear tarp to cover door opening and allow light and heat from sun to help warm shelter on cold days, although haven't had to try this out yet. Thanks for you videos and suggestions.
I bought this model on your recommendation. You can also just have the walls up half way from the bottom to the hub height. I love your button suggestion. We use a tarpb over the top for absolute rain proofing. A 12 x 12 blue tarp with silver underside gives the impression of a blue sky above with leaf/branch patterns as an extra I too suggested the ceiling vent to the manufacturer. WE GOT NO RAIN! GRASS DYING.
Nice! My roof fly is very waterproof on the SKy. The seams are sealed, I have the traveler and it needed to be sealed at the seams. I like the lowering of the wall too! Thanks. I hopeyou enjoy the shelter. I use it for bugs, sun and rain. The huge amount of floor space is great. Thanks for watching and commenting. =Cosmo
I have fans so I can sleep in the trailer or the Clam. I uave used cots in the Clam to sleep for more comfort. Yes I sleep in there some times to mix things up! Thanks for watching =Cosmo

@@CosmoWeems They are selling way better than I expected. Maybe a Covid issue? There are lots more folks camping this year. 86 books were sold in Japan last month. Somebody must have written a blog about it over there.
