The way that I view it is that the one true magic can be used by harnessing powerful emotions. For Harvey it's that of hatred and jealousy, but for Osvald it's that love and a desire to protect his daughter.
God this theme is incredible to hear every time. I love the idea of having a canonically jacked nerd blasting his archnemesis with a giant lazer to a sick battle march theme.
Started the game off as Oswald. He had EVERYTHING taken from him due to an Envious Harvey and sets the darker tones of the game (which I like personally like). I don’t regret that decision AT ALL after the final Chapter. All he needed to Perfect the Art he was seeking was not by formulas, but by the Emotional Instinct a Father needs to protect his family.
Just tell you played the battle on Japanese voice option, because "OOOOOOOOOOOSVAAAAAAAAAALD!!!" From Harvey gaves helluva goosebumps and you GET READY TO FINISH HARVEY
Harvey's One True Magic is JUST very powerful dark magic, whereas Osvald's One True Magic transcends elemental magic and breaks weaknesses of any foe. Osvald is superior.
Love the irony of that considering the flashback cutscene when he first meets Osvald they tell that guy that he is just channeling a slightly more powerful lightning spell, only for Harvey to basically do the same thing with The Shadow.
I honestly have a bit of a theory that Dark magic is actually just a weaker form of The Shadow, whereas Light Magic is a weaker version of the Holy Flame.
I laughed so hard when Harvey used his One True Magic I almost dropped the controller. - used Agnea's lion dance on someone, forgetting I had an NPC with Bewildering Ballad. Yeah, Harvey was such an asshole who reveled in being evil. I am certain he grew that mustache just so he could twirl it at Osvald. Also, side note, when beginning this fight, I love hearing Osvald say, "Harvey... Let's talk..."
@@offdutyenglishmajor9924 Of them all, he was the most petty villain. What he did to Osvald wasn't really because of some grand plan. When I fought him, Castti was the conjurer and I made everyone's weapons do fire damage. Felt good to have Osvald beat him with his staff and leave devastating burns.
Harvey, while not the deepest antagonist, is definitely the most entertaining. He’s like the RPG version of Reverse Flash, taking every opportunity to inconvenience one person and relishing in how evil he is. Plus his voice work in both EN and JP are top tier.
Wow, I missed out. Did so much damage I completely skipped this phase. Also happened to be running Price of Power on Ozvald, so burning an entire bar of MP for a single blast of One True Magic was amusing.
i remember beating this fight with Osvald´s true magic, however, it was not intencional, everyone was at low health, i didn´t used PI since i didn´t have, and after that, there was 5 fkin turns of harvey (he had his one true magic charging) and Osvald was level 27, it was one of the most epic things that ever happened me in a videogame
How are these two scholars so buffed up. Harvey looking thick af while Osvald is a bear stature. The probably lift while not buried under their books and research.
Osvald does mention that he works out a lot. Maybe Harvey, being an overcompensating little shit, decided he'd try to one up Osvald in that department too.
