    I have a (1) 3090 and (1) 3090ti both with 64gb ram and 16 core xeons, barly making $2.50 to &3.50 a day combined on salad.....markets already saturated

    great video. i have few rigs on there myself. i will advise you to oc your rigs to bring that power down. On my 4090`s and others people are mining qubic (gli-runner) there is no point to burn your cards down. keep up good work

      Great advise. What do you use to oc them down personally? I've thought about doing it myself, but I didn't want to get hit with a performance issue. One of the machines had a report filed for performance not as expected 🙄.

    I trought about switching because I would be making 0,33 usd more with my RTX3060 12G but I will stay with SALAD after when I HEARD ABOUT THE 25% FEE
    also when using salad it seems like your pc is ideling 30% of the time when rented

    Splitting the power the gpu uses between 2 different psu's is a great way to fry your card down the road just upgrade the psu and use 1 big psu for the entire system, also you shouldnt leave those kwh meters plugged in 24/7 they will melt/start a fire over time.

      Yes please don't split power of a gpu between 2 psus. I only tested this because I didn't have a big enough psu at the time but quickly changed it to a proper one. You can though, safely run a psu for the system and a separate psu for the gpus with a jumper. Similar to when gpu crypto mining on Graphics cards. As for the watt meter. They say rated for 1800w but I wouldn't put that much on them. After about 1300 of constant running they do get hot. As for a 500w system, I've ran connected to one for months and it's been fine.Just my personal experience. Thank you @bobbyhill865 for the great advise on safety. Using one powerfully psu would be the best option.

      You could also just have a riser as they don't carry power, only data from the PCI port. its common for crypto mining rigs to use multiple PSU's, as long as both the PCI and 8 pin come from the same PSU its all ok. Though I am not sure for these AI workloads how a riser effects performance.

    How did you split the server PSU with the 1000w PSU? Did you use a splitter? I noticed the MB has a 5pin power connection so you would still need the server PSU.

    • @racimbio
      @racimbio  2 месяца назад +1

      The server psu stays and powers the server itself as normal since the board has proprietary connections. The 1000 w psu powers only the gpu through pcie 8 pin connectors. The 1000w psu is turned on by adding a 24pin jumper adapter to the 24pin cable on the 1000w psu. Turn on the gpu psu first with the psu power switch, then turn on the server as normal. Similar to a gpu crypto mining rig. Where there is a dedicated psu just for the graphics cards. I'll make. A short about it for you when I get home.

    Where do you live where electricity is $0.12/kWh? In Socal you're looking at around $0.33 to 0.45 per kWh, and don't forget about the air conditioning you need to keep the room from overheating. Even if I got a 4090 for free, my ROI would be negative. Then I'd have to sell the 4090 to pay for the AC bill. Sigh.

      @ferretsandbirdsandwhatnot wow that's expensive . I'm in Virginia United States I thought mine went up a lot when it went from 0.10 to 0.12 . I guess it's still considered cheap in comparison to yours.
