    It was awesome riding with you Toogy it was such a fun day I wish I had more in me. The gentlemen changing his tire on the side of the trail says everything about the shale here!

    You did really well for your first time here....It was cool you came to check it out.
    Being local and having a season pass here, I recommend avoiding these words if you ever bike here again. Rock, rocks, rocky, rock garden or shale.....Thanks in advance...

      Rob I would agree, no matter the "skill" of the other riders, It's REALLY nice to see people slow down for the not as skilled and help them enjoy the ride together. Then it's ok as Toogy did go off and enjoy at his own pace. But I really liked how he slowed down and waited for Fat Guy Riding to catch up. (i'm sorry i don't know his name just his channel) . But great colab! It was fun to see the trail even if he did fall 3-4 times. I'm a Big guy myself who rides and lives in PA.. it's fun to see you guys tackling these parks and what i can aspire to do someday!

    Glad to see you both had a good time at Blue. A lot of maintenance goes into our trails. Anything black is meant to be all natural so we don’t pick out rocks. We just let Mother Nature do her thing. Next year we will hopefully have our new actual beginner trail done. Hope to see you again!

    IT's almost like on some of those Black Diamond or even Blue courses they need to Rake all the Loose Gravel off the course so that it's safer. All that Loose stuff on the course seems very dangerous in general but just "not fun" to deal with.

    • @ToogyHowser
      @ToogyHowser  4 года назад +1

      It was alright, I kinda like the rawness of it, groomed trails are fun, but so are the raw gnarly ones!

  • @patrickkline6776

    Larger OD grips saved my hands this season, at least from the vibration through the bars...going OTB doesn’t help however catching shale. Beginning of the season at Blue is phenomenally better, unfortunate weather degradation through out the season turns it to an extra challenge by September. Great video, shame I missed this weekend

    If you’re having so much trouble with easier trails have you ever tried using a downhill bike at the parks and did it make it any better for you if you did try it? If not you should try it and maybe it’ll boost your confidence and allow you to ride more trails or hit more features while going faster. It helped some new riders that I know

    • @ToogyHowser
      @ToogyHowser  4 года назад

      hard to say for sure, there are aspects of each I like & dislike! Blue in Collingwood is great, except the ride across the top and the collector can get pretty tedious and also the trails being so weather dependent. Blue in PA is also super gnarly, but maybe a bit too much gnar haha. Can't go wrong with either place though

    Is it safe to go mountain biking for first time without any lessons

    • @topspot4834
      @topspot4834 3 года назад

      Yes. You don't need lessons. Best if you could find somebody to guide, but most places have full face helmets along with full protective gear so you'll be safe. They also rent full suspension downhill bikes you could rent if you don't have your own. All in the cost is approx $150 including rental, lift ticket and gear. Trails are clearly marked so you'll be able to take the green trails and progress as you get comfortable. If you do decide on a lesson, I'd actually recommend taking one your 2nd or even 3rd time going. Whether you take a lesson or not, it's gonna take a few runs just to get comfortable. If you're paying for a lesson, no need to waste it on basic stuff you'll figure out regardless. Ride a few days, then your lesson will be how to take berms or jumps and stuff like that.

    Nice to see real world bikes and regular guys riding!
    Hmm, maybe I'm off but since most trails seemed to give your arms and hands a good workout perhaps experimenting with the fork pressure and rebound setting to allow it to take more of the chatter and hits? Also, you guys are probably tense so that stops the blood flowing as well. I know testing different settings and goin the same short (~1min) but varied trail stretcha can really help you dial the available support your fork has, it did for me learning DH on my -18 Roscoe 9. Having a basic Recon 120 makes it even more important to get the sag and rebound right. And don't for get to clean and lube those legs and o-rings (silicone spray works for me) to avoid any stickiness!

    Here in Colorado all Downhill bike parks are not the same. The one you guys are riding in PA is not Groomed at all. The whole video you guys were putting your bikes and bodies through ROCKY HELL. Geeez my arm would have fell off. Here Trestle Bike Park is well groomed. But Keystone Bike Park is very rocky. Groomed Downhill Bike Parks are a lot more FUN I say.
