Miller said; Oh, how bright and glorious the truth appeared!" yet we now know it was apparent truth and not real truth, we must forever study to obtain truth because what we now assume to be truth because of what others present, may only be apparent truth. The cleansing of the sanctuary, is it what we have being taught or is it what the Bible has taught, when the sins of the people were removed from the sanctuary and placed on the head of the scapegoat and it was driven out into a desolate place to perish? It can therefore be possible that the 2300 days/years is not yet completed until Jesus returns the third time and casts Lucifer, the fallen angels and all the evil deeds into the lake of fire!
Hi Anthony, Praise God for William Miller whom He used wonderfully. Was he perfect? Did he know everything? No, he had much more to learn but God used him for the particular purpose for which he was used. He set out a Bible study method which has not been improved upon. See Isaiah 28:10. The truths which make up the whole of the Bible must be searched out and gathered up. "Here a little, and there a little." Scripture should be used to interpret itself.
Interestingly enough the point on which he failed was the very point of doctrine which he took for granted. Had he studied that out he many not have made that mistake. Miller and the Millerite Movement fulfilled part of Daniel's 2300 day prophecy!
The resurrection? Why do we so seldom hear of it? Is it because we have replaced this beautiful teaching with other false teachings like the secret rapture or the immediate flight of the soul to heaven or hell or even purgatory which does not exist except in the fertile imagination of some man's mind?
Like as Jesus was raised from the dead, so shall the righteous dead be raised at his second coming and will with the righteous living go together with Jesus to Heaven. The wicked will be resurrected later to receive their punishment. Please Heavenly Father help us to treasure this beautiful teaching and to live one day at a time preparing to live in Heaven with You whether we are alive or die before Your coming.
I have shared with Mark Finley two times , in person, using 2 texts about HOPE, that is MORE relevant than the usual SDA eschatology, apologetic way.
He still doesn't get it. Because of the usual approach many SDA look forward , in dread, to the 2nd coming. Many SDA pastors talk..."JESUS is coming soon" and yet how often do they say...but the ANTI-Christ comes first, along with mark of the beast, time of trouble, last plagues, death decree, SUNday law??????? . Monday's lesson quotes Luther Warren to...."get ready, stay ready" What does it mean to be "READY"????. "Motivated by HOPE "...to do what??
