Brief explanation of idmthy: The character of the album is a version of Quadeca who follows through on taking his own life. He was stuck in a life he felt was not worth living and he became fascinated by the idea of not existing so he took his own life. To his surprise he ascends into a ghostly form of himself and quickly begins to regret his decision. He watches over his family as they move on from his death and he becomes desperate to communicate with them as he feels like he is being forgotten. In a moment of weakness and selfishness, he sets off a carbon monoxide leak with the hopes of his mother being able to see him in the hallucinations. This attempt to communicate failed and he almost ended up killing his mother. He is overwhelmed with guilt, loneliness, and the idea of being forgotten causing him to have a panic attack. After calming down, he reflects on the moments leading up to his suicide with a newfound perspective gaining some amount of closure. “let me go but don’t let go of me”. He is then able to enter the void and become consumed by static as he achieves his original goal of not existing. Only this time he wishes he could be alive with his loved ones.
100% self produced btw. :) His previous album was also pretty good. Definitely a different energy. More heartache than sorrow/death. But it's great to see him getting more love and credit out here
jesus christ. makes me think of a more intense and thematic Joji the whole concept is spine-chilling. just a lone guy traversing the land without a second thought. invisible to the world, but maybe a shred of hope since those dogs can sense him and play with him. i burst into tears at 18:48, the combination of magical instrumentation that just hits you like a truck, and what to me seems like a recollection of all these fading memories he can't share with anyone because he's forever a ghost is truly heartbreaking... also the moment of crackling at the end to give you a few moments to process what you just experienced before overwhelming you one last time... holy fuck to me, my fav album of 2022 has gotta be Louis Cole's Quality Over Opinion the wait was worth it for this one. thanks for introducing me to yet another musical legend. good shit man, and happy merry Crimimim. see u on the next one!
Knowing that the album is about him being dead and his mum and family are grieving him and literally all the tracks are from his perespective being dead/a ghost. Just tears the whole wa through this video. This concept, this unfair concept that gets into our emotions and soul, is amazingly beautiful and couldnt have been executed any better if he tried.
I seriously appreciate the effort put into switching in and out your face cam with the timings of the music and and flashback recals of fotage with your input so sick
Cuz like the static at the end is him finally letting go and his soul being released to the void. Acknowledging on Knots how he says he doesn't fade to black he cuts to static.
Danny Brown's verse on this album was from the perspective of Carbon Dioxide, the gas produced by car exhausts. I love the story telling on this album.
@@ODDITIES It’s not as trippy and crazy as Enter the Void, but they explore similar ideas. IDMTHY reminds me of both with how they perceive the afterlife and Quadeca definitely took inspiration from A Ghost Story’s cinematography.
W Video -Post video review: This album was CRAZY!! Full of ups and downs, a real roller coaster of emotions! For sure going to give Quadeca a listen in the future
Thank you, when I first listened to this album i was just amazed by the atmospheric sounds and how different it was to what I usually listen to which is A-LOT of death and black metal and just screaming…. I surprised myself, I really really like it, one of my favourite albums this year easily. Glad u posted a reaction to this one
love your background art - great taste; IDMTHY is still my favorite album of last year for its subject matter and surreal sound. connected with my soul intensely & I’ve followed Quadeca for about a half decade so I felt a lot of payoff with his evolution, yk, not having to say he’s upcoming anymore. He did a twitter thing a few years back (that I think is deleted now) where he responded to fans through a burner phone number and I was lucky enough to get a response, he was super kind and genuine (around the time his single I DON’T CARE released, which had similar subject matter as this, so I had asked some about that) and this album is just - such a beautiful culmination for me. Very inspirational stuff imo.
my personal favorite album of the year is tied for me in between I didn't mean to haunt you, and sitting at the end of the world by johnnascus. both in my opinion are damn near perfect albums and are 10s to me
This is such a genuine reaction video. Especially the fantasyworld part of the video. I was feeling the same way when I first heard that song in particular.
Dude, I would kill to see you react to Frailty by Jane Remover. Jane and Quadeca are signed to the same label, and are making some of the most impressive music I've ever heard with both of their respective most recent albums. I think if you liked this, you would get a lot out of Jane's project too. :)
Im here very late but this is one of THE ONLY album that have every made my just bawl tears throughout the listen after i found out what it was about and even to this day im still figuring things out about it
AOTYs IMO: 1. The Forever Story - JID 2. Cheat Codes - Black Thought & Danger Mouse 3. NO THANK YOU - Little Simz 4. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers - Kendrick 5. I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You - Quadeca 6. Melt My Eyez See Your Future - Denzel Curry 7. RAMONA PARK BROKE MY HEART - Vince Staples 8. SOS - SZA 9. Luv4Rent - Smino 10. $$$ - Freddie Gibbs
Deaths Dynamic Shroud - Transcendence Bot (the layering and mix is so good, but it is a pay to listen album. Expect it is on RUclips but you didn’t hear that from me)
Personally man you have to give TERROR REID a listen. The dude has an old-school but new age style and i seriously think the dude is one step away from greatness. Idk if hes underground enough for this channel but he is certainly underground none the less
You should check a guy by the name of Warlord Colossus. His song "Mania Likely" goes hard asf but at the same time its dark Also you should react to more of Lord Gasp. He never fails to impress me
Merry Christmas i just found your channel yesterday and have now bingewatched everything thank you sooo much for showing me 8485 I love the plaguetown ep. React to Clipping. Nothing is Safe pls
Bout time you react to some quadeca. My favorite track is picking up hands. For some reason, people say that it's one of the weakest songs on the list. I thought that it was the most beautiful imo. Also, work on your update schedule man, we NEED more content.
What’s up bro, huge fan of your channel. I love how explain the artistry in the music and how open you are to all kinds of music. It’d be really dope if you did a video on Amir Obe - Romeo & Juliet. He’s a very talented and slept on artist. He recreated the Romeo & Juliet story into his own and honestly deserves more views than it’s gotten. Honestly a masterpiece. Anyways keep the videos coming man, i always look forward to your next video.
you should check out zotiyac his stuff is rly aggressive but has great lyricism. his newest album rabbit w the gun has a more reflective and sad vibe than his other music. (i just came here for quadeca so i’m not familiar with what type of music you usually are listening to) :)
My album of the year is Bury the Man Surrounded by Flies by Saliva Grey , i think there is no bad songs and his flow is insane. i think him is perfect fit for your channel too
I love life, thank you thank you thank you by mac miller is a banger and a lot of sentimental value. lots of fun songs and nice to see you having a great year love ya man keep it up
I’m new to your channel! You should try this collective called Karmamob, they have a lot of underground rappers with unique rappers. ISSBROKIE is one of them and she has an amazing flow
You're already aware of KFC Murder Chicks but maybe give DJ Rozwell a listen he's one third of KFC Murder Chicks and makes just odd electronic gritty weird shit.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! my top albums for sure are: Corbin - Ghost With Skin Tobi Lou - Non-Perishable Biv- Dead Luxury Bruhmanegod - I'M A PIECE OF SHIT MARAUDA - Ascension Rite i can safely say in that order too
You should totally check out dustmyte my man. He sounds hella like zillakami (who you should also listen to) but dustmyte has fire flow and banger beats
You should listen to Redzed dude. His flow, texts and beat are just have to listen if you listen like all this shit youre listening too. Im sure you will enjoy it.
my bad, just been going through some shit. ive had a new video shot for a while now but havent had enough time to edit it. its a full album reaction to JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown's new album.
CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE react to nimbacore it's sounds like nostalgia and I know u love that shit after seeing u react to the baby my phone song nimbasacore is a sad song it's a vocaloid song too I recommend for you to react to the version of it that has lyrics in it for translation cuz of course it's hard to understand ty
So, on my way to the store this morning, I drove past a house that was burning down. Family was standing out front, firefighters were working on putting it out. The first thing that popped up in my head was: "Huh, never seen anyone ACTUALLY get a lump of coal for Christmas." Made me realize that deep down, I really am a horrible person. Not really strange, or odd, it is underground though. May or may not be a good fit for the channel. It's about going psycho and killing everybody. Also makes my shoulders bounce up and down like titties in the club. 10/10 would recommend.: Daddyphatsnaps - Cyber Psycho ruclips.net/video/f40z9PZHfvw/видео.html&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE

a high pedestal is fine, this is a magnificent piece of art. the music, mv and all
yea ive since rewatched / listened to it a few more times and it really is magnificent, youre right.

Just tears the whole wa through this video. This concept, this unfair concept that gets into our emotions and soul, is amazingly beautiful and couldnt have been executed any better if he tried.
This has to be the coolest/nicest reaction I've seen so far of this record and in general.
I seriously appreciate the effort put into switching in and out your face cam with the timings of the music and and flashback recals of fotage with your input so sick
And huge respect for not skipping the static at the end in editing and just embracing it when it's happening
Cuz like the static at the end is him finally letting go and his soul being released to the void. Acknowledging on Knots how he says he doesn't fade to black he cuts to static.

Merry christmas Oddities,
Also this Quadeca album is S tier
Merry Christmas to you too Hushy,
definitely S tier, easily.
Having Enter the Void in the background is so amazing. If you had A Ghost Story hidden in the back also I’d be perfect.
i still need to see A Ghost Story!
