Hey gamers, This week was insane for me in a lot of ways. Most of all, thanks so much for the successful Patreon launch! I'd like to start including everyone who supported it in the credits as soon as possible, but I have about 64 Microsoft Paint drawings left to do for my MSPaint-reons so I will be grinding that nonstop for the next few days 😭 Seriously, I am equal parts terrified & honored by how many people bought what I thought would just be a silly joke tier. In any case, Nobody's being charged this month, so the goal is to have the Patreon credits done by my first video after Feb 1!! As for this video - as I mentioned it took some extra effort in the gameplay department because Hotheads are evil, but I'm very proud of the schcombos Spritzy & I pulled off this time around! And I put a lot of effort into the music syncs too. Still, we missed Player 4 and Bones a whole lot - thankfully they'll be right back here next week. Along with the 3D intro of course, it felt kinda unnecessary when Hotheads are LITERALLY JUST JPEGS.
Hello! The reason that sometimes reflecting it doesn't work sometimes, is because you are'nt getting hit by the fireball at those times, every once in a while the fireball makes a electrical spark effect, and that has a hitbox, and it can't be reflected! wow!
Omg that makes so much sense (and is very cursed), thank you for explaining!! I guess that makes Falco even more broken, since you can reflect suns without getting into spark range!
@@WhyDo I'm surprised you guys never picked Pit! He can reflecc and protecc. Also this is one of those cases where Sora's counter's reflector property is actually useful
I just realized how much I want to see whydo using spirits. There’s a combo that lets you have less landing lag x3 and a shorter jump with insane speed, and I want so badly to see the fox schmovement with spirits like this!!
(Also, just to specify, the landing lag down spirit is a 1 cost secondary/support, so you can use 3 and it stacks. Also, you have to train a primary spirit with the right dojo to make it run super fast with low jumps)
Hmm, since we're on an emulator/cloud streaming we all have access to the same spirits, so this is actually very practical... we might have to get on that soon the more I think about it
I'm currently taking the second most important set of exams in my life and I just wanted to say that this series about stupid combos with dumb items is what got me through this past two weeks. I love this series so so much and hopefully I can set up a patreon account and buy that sweet sweet WhyDo art which you know is gonna be my profile picture. Thank you so much for this series you absolute legend. Edit: God damn this episode was wild. My favourite one by a mile, I never thought you could top the wild shenanigans of beast balls but you proved me wrong.
About 12:17 the reason it doesn’t work sometimes might have to do with the hothead registering the hitboxes of the reflector rather than the reflection hitbox of the reflector if that makes sense. I noticed that Spritzy activated the reflector while the hothead was in range of the reflector’s hitbox, so in order to keep that from happening you might need to have the reflector active before it gets that close to you. Either that or it has something to do with the electric sparks that happen periodically around the hothead (idk if hotheads gain different hitbox properties when that happens or something, but it might be one of the causes)
@@WhyDo oh yeah you’re right, tho in that instance it seems that the hothead did the electric flash thing? So that might be the variable rather than where it is when you activate the reflector
I just went through the comments to see if anyone else had input on the matter, and if what they’re saying is true then it was in fact the electric flashing that makes it unreflectable for a brief period
@@treykincy Yep another comment said it's the randomly triggered spark that's hitting us before it even gets in range to reflect. That makes a lot of sense to me & it lines up with the video!
if you’re ever having trouble keeping your pace when running for exercise just imagine a hothead chasing you. permanently. growing. getting ever so closer
Here’s some frame data to explain the inconsistent reflecting: Fox has 1 frame of startup on shine, then 1 frame in intangibility, then 1 frame of a hitbox. Any frame after this is a reflector. This means if you hit the 2 frame window of intangibility then a hitbox, the fireballs will become powered up instead of being reflected, as both the reflector and the hitbox are NOT out simultaneously. Wolf is similar, but with 4 frames of startup, 1 frame of intangibility, and 3 frames of a hitbox all before the reflector comes out. Love bringing the nerdy stuff to casual play.
In ~2017 war heads made a spin off candy called hot heads, a spicy variation of their usually sour candy. With flavors like sizzling strawberry, atomic green apple, and fiery watermelon. It’s so nice to have a real fact after all the nonsense I’ve been making up recently
It’s definitely the hitbox of the shine hitting it before the reflector property goes through. Plus, every now and then flame ball does an electricity attack that increases its range/damage and can’t be reflected. It happens with other projectile/reflector interactions too, sometimes Mario can’t reflect pac man projectiles because the cape hits their collision before it can reflect them. I’ve lost stocks because of it 😩
LOL sadly the Patreon budget hasn't come into play yet but when it does... I swear you will see it! Though... even though the intro was pretty barebones this time around I swear we spent so many more hours labbing with this stupid item than the other ones, suns have potential but they are the worsttt to play with at first 😔
This seems scary will be updating after I watch I never wanna see a hothead again, they kill so early and are so damn janky I hate it also spirits with items might be maybe broken
Yo this video has a great music selection! Props to you WhyDo! Also it’s a really good choice to scale the volume since this video is comentatorless :( See ya next Wednesday! Cheers
The reflectors might not be working as hotheads grow in power as they get hit (I believe they gain more from fire moves but I doubt reflectors count) so it’s possible they register the hit of the reflector which being them outside of the damage threshold for being able to be reflected, or the game sees the damaging hitbox be applied and just decides to ignore the reflector hitbox for some reason? Idk, this is very speculative and probably wrong but that’s the best ideas I’ve got
I'm surprised neither of you went out of your way to attack the hot heads before using them. Even without reflectors, a giant hot head can be very dangerous.
I know I'm very late to the video but hitting the sun with a fire attack GREATLY increases its power and size. I think Ness was a better pick than you guys thought

I think pit would be top tier in this. enough jumps to wait out hotheads, reflector is physical and projectile based so the sparks don't go through, super armor on side b makes sure you get back to ledge even with hotheads in the way and nair-drag combos with hotheads sound scary
Here's the full Item Breakers playlist! I update it with all the new eps! ruclips.net/p/PLjdvWbva3pMIHDxkOhCHP_6lKRZ0jhBKU Actually I might wanna add it to the description...
@@wanderingtyphlosion7332 You can do that actually! There should be a button after you click this link called "Save playlist" and it'll put it in your Library
The reason why sometimes a reflector doesn't work is because it actually has an occasinal disjointed, physical hitbox. When it sparks, it produces a hitbox a bit larger than it's current size, which can and will murder you when it's absorbed more attacks. I noticed that from after about the 3:55 mark. So yeah, if Spritzy still needs his answer, then there it is.

As a former fox main this looks like how regular matchups feel
The fact that you can reflect it once it hits the ground makes this so much more interesting than I thought it was going to be

I just went through the comments to see if anyone else had input on the matter, and if what they’re saying is true then it was in fact the electric flashing that makes it unreflectable for a brief period
