That was mostly due to stiff competition. The film opened in the summer of 1989. More people went to go see Batman, Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters II than this film. Which is a shame because this is my second favorite Bond film after Goldfinger.
I actually dreamt six months ago about watching television with parents while Dalton Goldeneye was playing. During the dream, we ate puffed potatoes with hotwings and Belgian strong ale. In that dream, the release date was 1984 and yes, that version of Bond had a moustache from start to end.
@@vishalnarayanasamy8767 I do like your idea. But only with one issue. Octopussy. All though FYEO would be a success for Dalton because of its dark themes but for me Octopussy is too light hearted for Dalton be in ( and with AVTAK ). The only scene I could imagine Dalton be in is the scene where the Indian agent dies and bond grieves other his death. Besides that I think it’s nearly impossible ( also I haven’t seen the whole movie but judging by the half of the movie I did see it’s pretty light hearted )
My favorite Bond next to Connery and Craig, and (I think) my favorite Bond film overall. I love how they play the original version of the song in this trailer vs. the bombastic version they've played for Brosnon and Craig's trailers.
Timothy Dalton is Ian Fleming's Bond way before Daniel Craig came in. It's sad he only did 2 films and if u are a true Bond fan , you know his character was serious and a true assassin in the books its just unfortunately the world @ the time wasn't ready for him due to being way ahead of his time.
Another great Bond film. Saw it twice in the cinema, first time in a packed cinema, 2nd time, no one else was in the cinema, other then my girlfriend at the time and myself. This was only the third weekend it was playing. The Summer of '89 had way too much competition, hence part of its failure. Had it been released in the fall or winter, I think it would have done much better! Dalton's version of Bond, wouldn't be appreciated until the years to come. Wish he would have done more Bond films as he's arguably one of the best..
As disappointing LTK did that summer at the box office, it was still so badass and contributed to one of the funnest summers ever! So many great movies and great music. Everyone was pretty much having a blast. If only we could have that now. Thanks again for participating with the channel. Hoping to start livestreams too and we can discuss Bond and things like Summer 89…Cheers!
Perice is my favourite movie Bond.... But Dalton is my favourite Book Bond. Dalton is playing Bond as he was in the early Fleming novels. Brosnan plays Bond mixing Connery and Moore together.
They’re really all great in their own way, but Dalton sure did capture a lot in his two films. Pierce had to grow on me but I watch his movies more and more these days, they’re fun!
Dalton is the best bond in my opinion because he is cunning calculating tough fit and above all dangerous and licence to kill just shows how dangerous bond really is.
Amen! I always loved that he was a sniper too. My favorite Bond as well! Subscribe for more Dalton Bond. Check out my other videos! Thanks for commenting.
This trailer is great until they suddenly launched into Norman's arrangement of the Bond theme, which just feels tonally off from the first 22 seconds. I was prepared to say this was a better trailer than the more commonly known trailer that has Kamen's music in it.
While I love this trailer (that intro music is great) and remember getting excited for the new Bond movie when I saw it as a kid, I agree a new harder hitting modem arrangement would probably better sell the goods. The producers always kept one foot traditional and the other breaking tradition during the Dalton era, that really hampered its marketing campaign. Still love his era. Cheers
Watching this it feels like they wanted “license to kill” to fail. Honestly this trailer just screams, MGM stopped caring. Shame to I freakin adore license to kill I’m so glad it’s finally getting the attention it deserves.
The film was originally titled "Licence Revoked." but Americans didnt know what the word 'revoked' meant so the producers had to change the title for international distribution
That's what United Artists' marketing department said; I highly doubt Americans would have had much of a problem with the word. They also claimed the title sounded as if Bond had lost his driver's licence, by the way. Both John Glen and Timothy Dalton were unhappy with the decision to change the title; Dalton especially hated the new title.
@@lukasnummer1 several movies had to be renamed for the US market and their limited intellect. The Madness of George III springs to mind as test audiences said they hadn't seen the first two parts 🤣
Be sure to watch “Building Tension” with Writer/Director Eric Red (Bad Moon/The Hitcher): ruclips.net/video/iZW_Nx6v0qY/видео.html
This is my all-time favorite 007 film! I love Dalton as Bond!!
I’m with you. Dalton is the best! Thanks for watching! Check out my other Dalton videos. Cheers
One of the best Bond movies. Shame it didn't do brilliantly financially but it's no reflection on the film. Licence to kill is great entertainment.
That was mostly due to stiff competition. The film opened in the summer of 1989. More people went to go see Batman, Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters II than this film. Which is a shame because this is my second favorite Bond film after Goldfinger.
I wanted to be in a alternate universe where Dalton did 4 bond films including Goldeneye game.
Yes, I think Roger Moore should have quitted after doing Moonraker and Timothy Dalton does the entire 80s James Bond Movie

Fully agree!!!@@vishalnarayanasamy8767
WHen ppl say that they wished they lived in the 80s, this is what i think of, imagine watching this in the theatre let alone the film itself.
Even though he only done 2 films, Timothy Dalton was the best Bond of the 80s, before Brosnan and Craig.
Thanks for this, i have never seen this Teaser Trailer before.
I really love the Dalton Bonds tbh.
This teaser came attached to prints of RAIN MAN
One of the best. Too bad the domestic box office was poor. Timothy Dalton 's Bond IS Bond.
My favorite Bond next to Connery and Craig, and (I think) my favorite Bond film overall.

I always like to know that music before it transitions to the traditional classic Bond theme...
I think it’s from the Alan Parsons Project but can’t say for sure. It sounds awesome in this trailer!
@@MichaelMcCormackMusic It has that sounding, very similar. But I agree, it's awesome but amazingly badass for the right time for 1989.
Awesome 007 movie!
This is an epic teaser trailer

2nd best bond movie right under goldfinger

Interesting that if you look closely in this trailer they made it look like Bond was hunting Sanchez because he killed Lupe instead of Felix/Della
The best bond

Can anyone tell me the name of the music playing in the opening of this teaser ?
Most violence James Bond movie's but nice

Was this trailer on the original VHS of the original Child’s Play film?
I think so, also Poltergeist 3 vhs. This is a 35mm copy of it, so hopefully better quality.
I’m just a guy who’s selective about his nostalgia.😅😅
I understand!
