The joy of missing out if such a powerful concept, especially after years of hearing “FOMO” and “YOLO”. Typically you would think missing out is negative, but really it’s a beautiful thing. I moved to a very rural area a little over two years ago and accidentally stumbled into essentialism (when it’s an hour round trip to the grocery store you learn to make do). Since being here there is no going out to eat all the time, going anywhere often for that matter and it’s been life changing. Now, even just getting a fast food burger is something special, or just getting out to do regular errands seems like an adventure. While I’m not saying everyone should ditch their lives and move to the mountains, just doing less can make every day moments feel like more.
@@joaograca1 Thank you! Moving out here was entirely on a whim. All I knew is that I wanted to be somewhere I could hike and kayak. I did a Zillow search over the entire state of Colorado and chose the place I could afford. I’m very lucky that I work from home for an environmental company.
That's amazing! I commend you for doing that, as in my view is something really challenging. A remote job helps, but it still takes courage! I get a little bit more inspired everyday, thanks again for sharing!

Making time for meaningful things in life is so important. I’ve had a giant reading list for ages- this year I’ve finally stopped making BS excuses and have made time to read. I’ve gone through 3 novels this year already and hope to get through many more.
I'm currently listening to McKeown's book: Essentialism while out on my daily walks. His chapter on Play is one of the most important parts of this book. We need time to play. It is truly essential for a creative, well balanced life.
A helpful mindset change is taking time instead of making time. We all share the limit of the same amount of time, and can't make more. But we can take time for what we value, and have boundaries for the rest without guilt.
are you talking about essentialism by greg mckeown? if so, its one of the best, most interesting and truly helpful books I ever read. edit: when I asked he hadnt yet updated the description to include the link for the book.
I always watch your videos in the morning when I'm waking up with coffee because you film your videos with a calm voice and the colors are neutral & aesthetically pleasing. However today I did not expect to be busting up laughing, my husband was wondering what I was laughing at. I showed him the part where you're sitting with a crazy look on your face. 😳😂 ( that's exactly how we feel when we have too much going on) Thank you so much for the morning laughs. I love the book essentialism as well.
I don’t know if you’ll see this comment but your videos are great! I subscribed because you remind me of Kyle Newacheck. You sound like him and I imagine if he made videos about tech, finance and minimalism it would be this lol
Hello Nicholas! Been watching your videos for a while now. Just a question, are you still off all social media? Are you posting a new video talking about it since I think, it’s gonna be 2 years since you left all other platforms? 😊
I need a video on minimalist kitchen items. Basically a video on everything in your kitchen… everything
Think of what you use. Then just keep that.
@@shaunpodolski2423 I think you grossly missed the point
one cup, one plate, one fork.
@@shaunpodolski2423 Exactly. A minimalist kitchen doesn't mean fewer items, it just means only the items you use.

Hi! I loved your insight! Just out of curiosity, what led you to change pace and what are you currently doing job wise? Thanks in advance!

Love that, I’m sure being in a quieter area makes you appreciate the little things a lot more. Thanks as always Haylea 🙌🏻
I've named my year "Refectio" - the year of restoring and repairing. Essentialism combined with minimalism will sure make the way toward my goal.
Love that ☝🏻

I'd love to see more videos on essentialism. You have a great way of explaining it.

Essentialism is one of my favorite books. I go back to it at least once a year to remind myself of the valuable lessons.

Great video that embodies the art of "intentional living". Excited to see where this year will lead

Great video but link missing for the book
Fixed!
Your videos are A++++
Thanks mate!
I see you also own a G-Shock. Very good choice. A G-Shock is easily the only watch you'd ever need.
I’ve had this for years, one of my favorites
One of my hobbies is building plastic robot model kits, they are definitely far away from essentialisms
Maybe not. Your hobby falls under the joy of missing out ….by doing things YOU enjoy, not doing other things you don’t.
😂it's funny all the plants. I cant afford them/not essential.

You look like Solid Snake.
