Eurovision 2014-2024 - Did the weakest songs actually finish last?

- Apologies for waffling! Here I discuss last-placed entries at Eurovision over the past decade. Please respect my opinions, as I will with yours.

France 2014, Portugal 2018, Germany 2023 and Norway 2024 were actually quite good. And with other songs I somewhat agreed, some of th4m aren't in my personal last place, b7t quite in the Bottom.

France - this was fun and actually judging by No Rules and the Estonian one this year getting points I think it would have done better in subsequent years.
Montenegro -its on my best of list - yeah it's low-key but I guess I've you're picking the Qers there's less stuff you dislike.
My pick - I like 2014 and most of the stuff I dislike did well and I have to admit isn't crap (Sweden and Russia) so this is hard. Ironically the worst year for the big 5 but none are abysmal - San Marino is dull but I'm going UK.
Rock Bottom - yup Moldova deserved this one.
2015 - I don't understand how you think this is a sub year.
Austria and Germany - I really like I'm Yours and I'm outraged on their part than Germany's although they didn't really deserve it.
Serbia - it has good points - good message and she's great - there are worst songs.
My pick - probably Poland - at least the UK are sort of fun - this is a nothing bugger that milks the singer's disability.
Rock Bottom - San Marino for me but Switzerland weren't great.
2016 -
Reality - Germany - probably one of the weakest that year but not bad.
See above if picking your own Qers but Finland weren't great.
My pick - hard because I don't really dislike anything no actually Azerbaijan - appalling generic schlock.
2017 -
Spain - it's not my pick but it's hard to disagree with it's result.
Germany - purely personal but I can't stand this song - it's just so painfully clichéd and generic - eugh! At least Spain is sort of an enjoyable summery bop if you turn your brain off.
Rock Bottom - yup San Marino deserved it.
2018 -
Reality - nope Portugal deserved better.
Hungary - nope just nope.
My pick - Sweden and Australia - probably Oz - again generic schlock that the juries for some inexplicable reason the juries moved (ok Sweden blinded by the pretty lights) but the public went off and voted for something more interesting instead. Norway weren't great either.
Rock Bottom - Iceland weren't robbed but I personally dislike Azerbaijan the most again generic tripe at least Iceland is trying to say something.
2019 -
UK - you I can't get angry about this.
Poland - I like this actually more than the UK or Germany.
I can't remember who you picked but for it's Germany - your first instinct was right - I can't stand this. I was never very keen on Serbia either.
Rock Bottom - Montenegro - trite nonsense. Much worse than Ireland.

UK - yeah I get why this flopped.
Germany - yeah in context agree. It's grown on me a bit though - I've a weakness for bonkers though.
My pick - I probably enjoy Serbia and Moldova the least. I think on sheer skill it should have been Moldova. I can only attribute it's success to Kirkorov string pulling and the bop fans taste for tacky crap.

Germany - it's funny a lot of friends like this, it's solid but I guess a bit forgettable. I think it didn't deserve last or a jury zero I'm just glad the poor guy didn't do a James Newman.
Australia - I voted this into the semis as his vocals deserved it but yeah this was very much worthy but dull song wise. I felt bad though as this so personal to him and well staged.
Me - Azerbaijan - Nadir is great, the staging is great, the song is a massive borefest (yup I completely get the nul point televote in the semi and single figure one in the final) and we did not need another male ballad that year.
Rock Bottom - for me Malta again generic cheesy crap. In semi 1 - should have been Bulgaria or Austria. Slovenia and Georgia were robbed.

Germany - yeah this was wrong.
Serbia - I loved this, both are in my Best of list.
My choice - Poland - triumph of corruption, the lowest common denominator, memes, lols and thrust. The UK weren't great. I found Estonia terminally dull too.

Norway - call the police 🚨 I'd like to report a massive robbery. I guess it had to grow on me.
My choice - Austria - sometimes I think the community will get behind an old crap if they can dance to it.
Rock Bottom - yeah Iceland deserved it, In semi 2 - should have been Albania - dull, dull, dull.
2017 - it's bad but Germany were worst I hate that song. Austria had zero televote points in the final.
Yeah, I agree, Germany was definitely worse than Spain in 2017. Yeah, Austria got 0 televote points because his vocals weren't that great, and maybe his song wasn't the best, but definitely not the worst either. For me, the 2 worst songs in the final were definitely Germany and Australia. Maybe Greece or Spain in 3rd worst position.
@@in_wino_veritasYeah I'd forgotten about Greece - yeah that song sucked too. I do think Poland was terminally dull along with Denmark.
