Unlucky mate, I feel your pain doing big paddles out to the blue and seeing dolphins and that’s about it! I guess it’s a numbers game keep pushing and it will happen at some point.
Mate love seeing your vids. all my holidays spent at Waimarrama (60's & 70's) got some great fish off Bare island, then your boat mate metioned post office. Big grouper off that rock. I'm now a kayak fisho in Sydney so appreciate your content. Thanks for my regular dose of the bay.
Unfortunately in that time post office and most of the coast has basically been fished out of groper/ hapuku before i had the chance, they are a very rare fish to see now especially large ones , yet to ever catch one.
@@SkwidyFishing so sad to hear that. Was still a lot of fish in late 70's. Only few families stayed there in those days. Do you still get the big schools of kingies & bonito this side of the island in summer? Used to get loads of Cray's - paua at the northern end of the beach too. Love that place. Thanks for keeping it alive on video for me.
Yeah disappointing for sure, they just grow too slow. I have been told people used to catch groper up to 80lb off the back of the boil and see them diving near the rock, I haven't seen much really on the shore side, certainly not tuna, the odd school of kingfish, mostly other side of the island. largest school I've seen is a group of about 15. Currently there is a paua ban as they have been decimated, but are making a slow and steady recovery. Crayfish are pretty plentiful but take a hammering from pots in the summer. There are many many more Waimarama videos coming ! @@stephenschwalger6509
Really kicking ass now mate pushing the limits 👊🏽

It's gets better later in the season out here, a lot of blank trolling days in early jan but, look out for the late jan / feb videos coming!
