I used stickers last time I made a piece after seeing your videos and it's a game changer! Nothing else I tried to transfer the pattern over stayed put while I ground the glass, but the stickers work like a charm! Thanks for the tip!
This is so awesome to see people are still crafting these beautiful masterpieces! My Mom used to do stained glass art and she never ceased to amaze us with the pieces she would make, keep up the gorgeous work!!
As someone who builds stained glass windows for cathedrals and restore them, the offcuts of waste on some of those cuts are literally breaking my heart with the glass 😩
On a curve, always cut the inside cut first and cut the outside cut last. The inside is more likely to break incorrectly first and is more vulnerable to a bad break.
Use a lubricant! Also, if it’s a textured piece of glass that’s hard to cut and you want the texture to show, mirror your pattern and put it on the back!
I think that’s why she said score the “smooth side.” Most glass is smooth on both sides but if you have textured glass, it’s likely smooth on only one side(or neither).
Art framer, not an artist, but I like to snap glass by setting it down so the score line is facing downwards, then I just use my thumb to press down on it. If it's a big piece I might use both thumbs on either end of the score line. It doesn't take a lot of pressure for a nice clean snap. Caveat that I've only used this technique on straight score lines; never curved ones.
PSA: Don't be blasé about the cumulative lead exposure. Take proper precautions. Also, don't squeeze the running pliars too hard if you try her two-handed trick
I want to get into making stained glass so bad! The only problems are that the noise of the glass cutter intensely bothers me for some reason and the cost of getting started.😊
Do you have advice on what to get as a beginners kit?? I am UK based, so it won’t be exactly the same, but knowing what I need would be so much easier!! THANK YOU 🪟🖤🪽
I wanna learn to do this so badly because imagine how many things can be made for presents and then everyone will actually enjoy my crafts instead of just not bothering with it
Why can't you go back on the glass once you score it ? Can we have a video as a demo if you score it more than once please ? ❤❤❤🎉 I LOVE YOUR WORK AND VIDEOS ❤
You had stained glass at your high school? That sounds so fun! Only thing we had revolving crafting was welding 😅. I know I'd love to get into it now that I have my own income.
@witheredteagrounds9692 it's not hard to start. Hobby Lobby has almost all the supplies needed to start. The hardest part is finding sheets of glass in your color preference. (Soldering tool, the tape to put around the finished pieces, roll of solder, glass cutter, glass breaking plyers, glass sheets, sticky paper for designs, and a grinder with grinding liquid.) Under $200 start for a long lasting hobby really. A light table or similar item helps with design sketches, too.
I did stained glass work for a semester, my only tip- WATCH WHERE YOUR LIQUID SOLDER IS / KEEP THE FINGERS AWAY. I accidentally dripped some on my fingers, it hurts like hell. Make sure you've got burn cream readily available, and for gods sake don't wash it off. It was not a fun night 😅 in that same vein, safety glasses while soldering. Because I nearly flung liquid solder INTO MY EYES
Hello! I am a very- wierd way doing glass artist!. I pre make all the molds first, pour in molten glass into the molds (so not cutting step needed) and then just fire it up, pour, copper taping, sother, then done!. (It did cost me like 12k to start this but like its fast and fun)
Hi! I take glass cutting classes for school, I recommend heavily to always name ur stickers so you don't forget, And never lean on your waffle board and stuff, Glass will get in and oh my goodness, it's a pain to get out. I also prefer standing up when cutting, It shows ur lines better but it also helps to not make the lines your cutting wavy when you want it straight. More importantly, Don't give up on your first price and don't expect it to be done within a week. Glass takes awhile to understand how it works, Eventually with time, You'll develop your own little tricks that make things easy. Glass staining is literally the coolest thing ever and I love it so much. I'm glad I'm in the class, I hope u guys have fun!!!!
My grandparents were artists (outside of WW2) & they actually got to make a stand glasses window each which have resided in The Chancellors At Arms staircase in Big Ben for over 80 years now!! They are both dead - as is my father, so that whole bloodline has ended…(probably for the best 😬)
I actually use a ringsaw (gemini taurus), it helps to cut more complicated forms and I have very little "waste"/ more intact left over surface to cut my next forms from..
this is great and i love the sticker idea! personally i make versions of those pieces out of a flat sheet of plastic. then i can cut them out and use them as a template that i can put on the glass and trace around with a sharpie! that way, you can draw on multiples of a piece at the same time first and then cut it out later, you can still move it around and just trace it somewhere else on the glass if something breaks incorrectly. you can also keep the templates afterwards if its impractical for you to make stickers every time you want to make the same pattern.
Oh my goodnessssssss…. Using STICKERS for pattern!!!!! I lovveeee ittttttt I dooo worry that it’d be costly though…… hmmph. And honestly, definitely bummed out realizing how I wouldn’t be able to recycle the pieces afterwards like I obviously could with just paper…. But ! But ! SO convenient /helpful/ *genius * Hmmmmpphhhhh… 🤔💭
Que lindo qual o nome desse quite para cortar e quebrar esse vidros? Qual o tipo desses vidros? E esse material que fica entre os vidros? Muuuuuuuito lindo 🥰 parabéns 🙏🫰👏👏
Looks like two bandages over one spot. I get exaggeration for comedy but to be real for a second, she has in the past explained that gloves are more cumbersome and she has more precision and ease with them off. I feel that if people are experienced and careful then it's usually not an issue. That being said, this is glass, and people should obviously be careful.
How much do you think in total it would cost to try learning to make stain glass pieces? A total of all the basic items and necessary tools, as well as where you can go to get glass? Or tools?
These videos make me want to learn how to do this. But I think my parents would kill me if I started a new hobby. I have so much makeup and so many cosplays, I have a giant diamond painting going on the dining table, and I just got an accordion.
Some glass doesn't have a flat side so you can't really do that. There are all sorts of different techniques and tools. I haven't been doing it for very long, but my teacher has been for 18 years.
Hi I'm a total noob but is there away to keep the color of the copper when heating it...I like it better than the silver grey it becomes after heating it.
The copper is a tape that goes along the edges of the glass so they can solder together. The silver is the solder. I think the solder can be colored with patina but I'm not certain.
The stickers are a smart idea. When I was taking stained glass in high school for 2 years, we has to use paper and glue and the glue was annoying and sticky and gross and looked like boogers when it dried lol BTW does the tape you use work well by staying in the glass when you begin to grind the edges? Or do you use a grinder that uses water? Most stained glass grinders use water to eliminate glass dust and flying glass so you can see the piece better as well, the glue I used would eventually get wet and become slick and loose, making it come off the glass piece and it was very annoying. Also, where do you get all of your stained glass products from? I'd like to buy myself the rest of my setup so I can begin doing this again as I had enjoyed it very much, same with ceramics! @AmayaJade
I don't know about OP, but I usually have the stickers fall off when grinding, especially with small pieces, which I agree is irritating. Sometimes I have better luck if I apply stickers the night before doing the grinds instead of doing it all in one go. Or might just be a placebo.
I tried the sticker method, and I try to cut as close as I can to it without overlapping but I guess I'm just bad at it because my roller gets stuck in the paper sometimes and it's hard to "follow through" so I have to lift up my cutter. So annoying. 😢
I would highly recommend gloves, glass breaks so fine you dont see the small shards and they can get stuck under the nail and inside the skin. Without being treated they cause infections, swelling and rotting~ I think your art is lovely but glass is dangerous x
OMG FINALLY A PREVIEW OF THE FINAL RESULT FOR THE BOUQUET OF FLOWERS IT LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL 🥺❤️
I used stickers last time I made a piece after seeing your videos and it's a game changer! Nothing else I tried to transfer the pattern over stayed put while I ground the glass, but the stickers work like a charm! Thanks for the tip!
What sticker do you use?
Where do u get those stickers from? I love this idea of using them.

Maybe she has another use for them!
I understand that! Just wanted a certain pattern on those pieces 😊
On a curve, always cut the inside cut first and cut the outside cut last. The inside is more likely to break incorrectly first and is more vulnerable to a bad break.
Most likely never gonna do this, but I LOVE watching the tutorials. So satisfying 😻🥰❤️
Mosaic artist! Love your glass though!
Thank you!
I adore the beauty in the hands working and in the sounds of glass changing its shape ❤
My grandpa does stained glass and that mostly why i admire like the entire art of it and he hand draws it and i think both techniques are smart
Here is my thing: Do you wear headphones because "glass scoring" is the MOST headache inducing sound. It is anti-ASMR
It made my ears wanna cry fr 😭
Really?? It's literally my favorite part of making stained glass 😭
I had to plug my ears.
It varies from person to person
Literally it gave me chills hearing it 😂😂
Use a lubricant! Also, if it’s a textured piece of glass that’s hard to cut and you want the texture to show, mirror your pattern and put it on the back!
I think that’s why she said score the “smooth side.”
Most glass is smooth on both sides but if you have textured glass, it’s likely smooth on only one side(or neither).

She carries herself with a blend of humility, grace and kindness.

You absolutely have the best tutorials. Im looking into mosaics, and these skills would be just as helpful
I use a Silhouette Cameo to cut vinyl patterns. Great way to make patterns.
The scoring noise tickles my brain in such a nice way😍
This is really useful, thanks!

Always pay attention to the grain dorection of your glass. It will make the end results even better.
I actually use a ringsaw (gemini taurus), it helps to cut more complicated forms and I have very little "waste"/ more intact left over surface to cut my next forms from..
this is cool :o How do you get the glass?
Hi Amaya! I recently saw your videos and love them! Quick question, have you ever injured yourself while working with glass?
this is great and i love the sticker idea! personally i make versions of those pieces out of a flat sheet of plastic. then i can cut them out and use them as a template that i can put on the glass and trace around with a sharpie! that way, you can draw on multiples of a piece at the same time first and then cut it out later, you can still move it around and just trace it somewhere else on the glass if something breaks incorrectly. you can also keep the templates afterwards if its impractical for you to make stickers every time you want to make the same pattern.

Man what an awesome hobby
Do you use a cricut for your stickers and what type of sticker do you use? That sticker looks super durable! 🎉
I switched to using vinyl but any weatherproof sticker paper will work. I use the Cricut explore 3!
Thank you ❤ it looks so much easier than drawing the designs on and so much more accurate so it's something I'm looking to invest in!
Could you maybe share what kind of sticker paper you use and like where/how you purchase it?? Tysm💖
It’s removable vinyl & I order it from amazon!
You should do two times on the scoring line

water assisted grinding is a decent investment. Maybe not for all, but definitely for some
How much do you think in total it would cost to try learning to make stain glass pieces? A total of all the basic items and necessary tools, as well as where you can go to get glass? Or tools?
I spent just over $200 on everything to start. I get all supplies from amazon but glass I mostly get from hobby lobby!
I've seen someone break a peice of glass under some water, now I'm not sure if this would work, but its worth a try.
Some day I will pick up making stain glass and I can’t wait
just curious! why did you change from white stickers to black? was it a stylistic choice or does it have a practical use?
I’m using vinyl now!
@@AmayaJade Oooh okay!
Is that an alocasia! It’s beutiful
That looks like a lot of fun, maybe I can put one of these at the canter of one of my tables. Is it possible to do this with tempered glass?
How did you learn stained glass art?
These videos make me want to learn how to do this. But I think my parents would kill me if I started a new hobby. I have so much makeup and so many cosplays, I have a giant diamond painting going on the dining table, and I just got an accordion.
Is this safe for kids to do? Its something i want to cause i have a bunch of creativity that not just paper can hold
Where do you purchase the sticker paper and what is it called?
How big of a piece can you make before it would need a frame? Is soldering strong enough to support larger pieces?
Does this also apply to mirrors or are they a different thing?
It’s the same process for mirrors!
You can't use mirror with copper foil because the flux will corrode the silver backing over time.
You can you just have to seal it before foiling!
i cant cut like you do, any tips??
Some glass doesn't have a flat side so you can't really do that. There are all sorts of different techniques and tools. I haven't been doing it for very long, but my teacher has been for 18 years.
When cutting do not go off the end of your glass it will ruin your cutter
I just got into stain glass recently because of you. There hasn't been any successful results yet.
Do you wear any sort of mask incase if glass shatters so it doesn’t hit your face ?
How do you use stickers? Where do they come from?
I make them!
The shards of glass on her fingers

Would you say this is an expensive hobby? I‘m really tempted to get into this but i‘m worried i can‘t afford the tools etc 😅
I spent just over $200 on all the supplies to start!
What do you do with the extra glass?
Where do you get sticker patterns?
I make them!
All the little glass shards that go poof off to the side give me anxiety
Also score AWAY from your body! It’s a small thing that goes unnoticed, but just don’t score towards yourself.
