I Went To The Office Convention So You Don't Have To

- I went with my wife and a friend to Chicago to attend The Reunioncon, a The Office fan convention. Was the entire thing a good experience? Was Rainn Wilson as great in person? Were people really waiting in a 5 hour line/ Let's find out.

I can give you insight on the first ever office superfan festival if you want to do a video on that. I was one of the coordinators.
Yes same kid that emailed you
That's also not hay, that's straw.
Andy Buckley being as nice and understanding as David Wallace is a nice touch. Seems like a good guy!
He truly was. I wasn't planning to meet him but I kept hearing how awesome he was on Saturday. So Sunday I met him
The fact that there are office conventions are so funny to me- like- it’s supposed to be a very generic show where nothing is that spectacular. Like, you can’t really cosplay any of the characters, there’s nothing new to show off- it’s just really funny
lol true. yeah i imagine most of the reason people went was to meet the cast.
evident by the pretty lame "attractions" lol
The Office fans are some of the most boring, insufferable people out there. It fits them.
The "The Office" Convention sounds like a large-scale "The Office" episode -- paper plates, not enough pizza, people wandering around in a daze, hoping for the day to end. Very Meta...but I'm sure that wasn't the intent.
The intent was to milk die hard Office fans for as much money as they are willing to spend, seemed to work like a charm
this is what I call "being legally robbed". Man... this is absurd! The Office Experience is 100000000000000x better, cheaper and made for fans.
@@thesuperfan2457 they are in Toronto now
It's because their ideas were stolen to begin with. They only know how to rob people.
the office experience is cool for photos of the replica dunder mifflin but nothing compares to meeting the cast members IMO.
"I come from a long line of people who refuse to wait in line."
You know, you could probably get exactly the same experience just being hired at an office…
Paying for an autograph is the lowest of the low. For both sides.
It's so gross.
"Dwight Schrute, Scranton branch. I just wanted to say that I have been standing in this line all day. And if this line, is any indication of how this company is being run, then we are in BIG trouble!" 😂
As one of the Co-Founders I am proud of what we have accomplished both here and in our first convention last year in NJ.
We are learning more and more with each event and plan on getting better for our third event when we launch it.
We are very thankful for Rainn Wilson coming to our convention and even though he was ill and that caused him to show up over an hour late and leave much earlier than we anticipated we still overall had a great event.
There are a lot of unfair opinions expressed in this video but there are still some lessons we are learning and greatly appreciate the post.
I know a lot of people who went to the event and they had a great time just walking around and doing the free events many of which weren’t mentioned in this video (Cherokee Jack’s Hockey, Fundies, Comedy Show, Vendors, etc)
I personally didn’t hear of anyone not being able to use the restroom on saturday evening and I myself was in there a few times and never had an issue.
Sunday General Admission was not let in Early with the VIP.
In my experience when I go to a mixed fandom convention the office cast almost always has the longest lines. We offer the Silver and Gold VIP with the Express Lane Access to help make the lines go faster. If you go to Disney without a lightning pass your experience is vastly different than someone who did.
Either way, again. I appreciate the video. Let’s work together for the next convention so you can watch us grow. DM me via instagram if you ever have a question or want an interview.
Regards
Arnold
Errr no. You learn on your own dime, not someone elses. You are scamming people. Think a wedding photographer can say oh sorry your wedding photos that I charged you for are a bit shit, I'm learning. Or a doctor oh sorry your son died as I was still learning, I'll get better. No, you hire people who do know what they are doing or go and work events for years before you promote them. You cannot put on an event if you don't know what you are doing. You should be sued.
Jesus... they really put the "con" in "convention". I would have been livid lol
Genuinely one of my favorite things about watching youtubers like Swell go to amateur conventions is the lack of things to do 😅
I was there with my partner on Saturday as general admission and it was crazy. My biggest gripe was them capping the online sales for Rainn meet & greets, saying they were sold out, but still allowing people to pay with cash at the event. I am glad we got a refund for ours, and we avoided the line because we didn't want to miss the other guests we were exited to meet. I agree with pretty much all your thoughts though, it was a very accurate recap of the event
absolutely heard you loud and clear. Going forward cast like Rainn etc will be “preorders only” it probably wouldn’t have been a problem if he wasn’t ill and came in an hour and a half late and left early but regardless we are learning and making things better for the next one.
Honestly, this is why I prefer smaller cons to the larger more mainstream ones. All the decisions are made by higher up business people without a single thought put into logistics. Plus, you tend to have better experiences at cons that aren't so specific like The Office. At a horror or sci-fi or just generic pop culture con, there's usually enough of a variety of stars that not every single person is there to meet the same celebrity. So it spreads the crowds and lines out a bit.
All of my experiences were influenced by not getting an influencer badge…
Oh no
Guys next time you see anybody from the office cast, say hi to them for me, thanks!
lol. maybe next time 🤷♂️
Chris Gethard was on The Office.. he played Dwight’s friend in a couple episodes
The office is certinaly a good show, but to me it's really weird going this hard as a fan over the show in 2023. It's weird to me as well that some of the actors are stuck in time and still have their existence revolve around that show.
I mean its okay if youre proud of a good product you once starred in and maybe show up on a convention or panel every 2-3 years. But trying to kickstart a TV Series of Stanley in retirement or the actor of Kevin releasing a Chilli cookbook........ never seen something so pathetic and so american. They also show up at every office gathering possible.
Surprised I didn’t see any of you as I was there both days, but I agree with you. It’s crazy because I liked meeting the cast, but looking back, I spent so much and it hurt so bad afterwards. Also the only atms were outside the convention area, I had to run there a few times and they surprisingly let me back in.
unfortunately the convention center did not allow us to bring our own ATMs which we have as a part of their rules for renting there. So we instructed to let people back in if they had to go to the ATM.
bro every time i come back to your channel still in shock that you don’t have at least 1m subscribers yet i cant wait for you to hit 100k !!
Thanks bro
I work in an office so I always get the office experience every day 😂
What a great made vid!! Good for being honest. Def subbed
1:16 haven’t finished watching but under 3 being free is hilarious. It should be like 10 and under free. If not 12 and under like with Comic-Con. As if a 4 year old cares about the office or can comprehend what they’re even experiencing
Wow. I love the show, but I’d never pay that much for a convention and to meet the cast
I am actually fascinated that some people do
Woah, I forgot you're the one who introduced me to Mulverine. Also I see a reboot or spin-off of the office coming sooner or later. Many of the cast just seem like they miss those checks.
The paper plane contest was hiding behind the bingo booth by the panel if you didn’t go back in that corner by the food line you wouldn’t of saw it. I saw a bunch paper everywhere so they did it at one point
You're nearly at 100k, time to change name to 100k productions soon :P
A boy can dream
To be fair, with just about all conventions, you're mostly just paying for the experience of being there and major a few photos. The autographs and merch can all be bought online. The same goes for the panels and Q&As. So, if you're not a hardcore fan, you're wasting your time/money.
I like this as a follow up to the Uncle Stan video. I thought about going but as a casual fan, it didn't make sense for me as much as other shows. Glad I didn't waste my time.
But seriously ,Community con would make me crap my pants.
Thats untill you enter and it is InSpecTiCon and a bald guy is trying to kill you.
They'd build a fort in a convention hall and have paintball
@@ampecsu That would be amazing.
@@ampecsu And the food court: chicken fingers, brownies, buttered noodles, and Subway!
I was excited to learn that this convention is coming to my hometown of Miami, but then I was SUPER pissed when I found out it's going to be the same weekend as Florida Supercon. Which if you don't know, is the the BIGGEST convention in South Florida. Seriously, WTF were the organizers thinking with that one? I'll admit, I was seriously considering buying a Sunday ticket just for Rainn Wilson, but after your story I think I'll just stick with Supercon.
I had the bronze pass too. The lines to get in were a shit show that sat am. Somehow I only had to wait like 30-45 minutes to see Rainn. He wasn't feeling a hundred percent but he was as personable as he could be and it was amazing meeting him.
However the way they handled his tickets to meet him and etc was abhorrent. I was in amazement with how long the line was, it looked like election day tbh.
I also met creed, Mr Gratti and Kevin Saturday and met David Wallace and Stanley on Sunday.
David Wallace and Mr Gratti were the most personable. I made David crack up at a twss joke.
I didn't do much other than wait in lines, and check the vendors and balloons.
But you are not wrong, that you get more out of the office experience.
"Shit show" sounds like the office lol
I often see the office cast whenever I go to Fanexpo Dallas, in fact I recorded me asking Rain Wilson about his thoughts on the uk office.
Must See Fest would be neat.
Looks like the cast members are cashing in. But it won't be with my cash.
It’s like a Fyre Festival for Office fans.
I went to last year's event in NJ. It was fun being with Office fans, but they did an absolutely dreadful job managing lines and waits. Missed half the activities I wanted to do waiting in 2 lines, and ended up not even getting the Oscar autograph I signed up for because he stopped signing. Also virtually no place to sit. Disappointed it seemed they didn't change much for year 2.
I think I saw you in another video about this convention. Tripped me out,
Which video?
At least rain was trying
The Hay Place at the convention is using straw. I see no hay.
The Hay Place on the show is also using straw. I see no hay there either.
Straw is yellowish. It's usually a waste product from wheat. Animals will normally not eat it.
Hay is green. It comes from a grass or alfalfa. Horses find it delicious.
Thanks for posting this. So disappointing! Glad I didn’t waste money to attend!
For anyone who wants a better experience meeting Rainn Wilson, he’s on a book tour signing now. I’ve met him twice at book signings in the Los Angeles area, once for Soul Pancake and just a couple weeks ago for Soul Boom. He’s on a book signing tour now and very nice and doing signings all over the country! It was $40 for his signature and the book and got to chat with him for a couple minutes and hear him discuss his book. Highly recommended!
In theory I’d love to go to an office convention, but a lot of this stuff is deal breakery, especially the no bathrooms at the end of the night! Some people have medical conditions and wouldn’t be able to hold it and that seems really unfair 😞 Hopefully they can do a better and more reasonably priced The Office convention one day and try to use this as a learning experience!
Yeah I looked into the convention but glad I didn’t spend the money to attend
Maybe a few people peeing on the floor would have caused them to reconsider access to the bathrooms.
Now he's coming to The Office reunion in Miami and it's 190 dollars for his autograph and picture...crazy
So nice of you to meet alton brown
The should have had file cabinets full of Angela's cats 🐈😻
9:28 Stanley!
I went to a Seinfeld set experience once in nyc and waited probably seven hours to get in. Back hurt, everything. Will never do again.
I'm waiting for the office Disney land ride !!
this sounds like literal hell
In what reality would you think this was going to be a good value?
I assume your question is rhetorical, and if so, I happen to agree with you. Meeting some of the stars would be cool, but do I really want to see or do beach games, an inflatable bar, or a few cars that were in limited scenes of the show? That's stuff you look at for 2 seconds and then move on. That seemed to be most of what was on the schedule
Someone should have brought scones and cider
Was funny to see you point out that Sardar was there with Leslie David Baker. Was he promoting Uncle Stan at all? Or are they just going to pretend that never happened now? Seems like it's been a while since there was an update on that project.
U mean uncle scam?
Why did they not do ticketed meet and greets? I went to Star Wars celebration and all the meet and greets were ticketed
if michael isn't there I send it back
Thanks for this. At one point I'd considered flying over from the UK for this. Really glad I didn't now.
Sounds....exciting lol
@15:36 I was in line with you guys!!
Oh awesome!

I'm not sure how many of these they've had but the first con or expo usually is a mess like this.
Life is too short, don't wait in lines.
I would never wait in line hours to meet anyone. This doesn't sound like a fun weekend.
Who had the shortest line?
Happy I saw this so I don’t spend money and leave disappointed lol
This is nuts I am a fan of the golden girls and wanted to go to the convention in Chicago decided not to go and I was glad I didn’t, this just seems like a mess.
$250-$500 to just essentially grant you early access.🤦 What a scam.
sounds like walker stalker conventions....
I went to this and Paul Faust gave me a free gold pass luckily lol
Had a great time in Chicago, and in Secaucus at the first event.
The organizers go out of their way to make this a memorable and positive experience for everyone, but of course there’s some who won’t be happy.
If Rainn wasn’t sick and didn’t have other obligations, I have no doubt he’d have stayed for every single person.
This just looks like Dwight is trying to make easy money after becoming famous 😂 it really reminded me of his "gym" and his "daycare center". We're onto you Rainn Wilson!
I went to Dashcon and this sounded worse.
I'd love if someone asked Baker about Uncle Stanley or his Crypto
Why would you admit to going to dashcon.
I went it was so fun!
Damn that whole convention sounds super expensive and not worth it unless youre a huge The Office fan. Would rather much go to SDCC and have a better experience.
Wow, I basically got something better than this when Kevin's actor came to my college, hanging out with him and doing shots at a bar for free sounds much better than this Con(vention)
this was not a convention this was a $200 line
I'll say it for you, it was a money grab. What a disaster
Where was Jim and Pam? Were they not there?
Wow this makes me sad
Honestly, every actor attending letting themselfs being paid 60-140$ for a autograph and a photo lost alot of respect from me now. Especially Rainn Wilson as he has a house tour video here on youtube and the guy is set for life already.
Sounds easier to become an actor, get hired for the Office reboot, and meet the actors rather than navigate this convention!
The irony of pay...I mean hay place probably went over their heads.
Oh, Rainn.. The old sore throat sorry i can't talk thing. So cliche. And you have to pay him for that privilege? I don't understand fandom.
But wait, they're LITHIUM!
I'm so surprised to see that this was such a bust. I contemplated going and I'm very glad I didnt spend the money.
I would only meet the obscure characters, fucking Darrel sister is the best haha, also Moes.
Why was this in chicago out of all places? I mean I live here and I'm confused lol this seems like a Philly thing.
What was that inflatable house in the middle supposed to be? I see hay bails maybe, Schrute Farms? Looks very sad...
Who the hell doesn’t wait in lines? Lol
Why the fuck does Leslie David Baker cost $10 more than the rest of the supporting cast? More then David Koechner who is arguably an actual celebrity.
I’m a Huge Office Fan and this being my first convention and not knowing what to expect is probably the reason I was a good convention. ( I was the guy wearing the Kleenex Box’s ) But now that I’m hearing this a-lot of what you'r saying true I for one never got any of the food I was told by the staff that there was no buffet on Sunday,… Luckily the this a great first convention and getting meeting Rain in person was what made this a good one……………except that line.........
I’m sorry to hear that but food was absolutely offered both days.
It's like The Office version of Fyre festival lol
Wow, thanks for this review! I love the show but paying for each autograph and photo and standing in an hours-long line, with little else to do, does not sound fun. Maybe I’m spoiled by the Beatlefest where all the VIP autographs are free for anyone who buys a ticket to get in and stands in line.
Lines at Beatlefest would be longer and tickets more expensive if Paul McCartney were there.
I have some people id like to meet, but paying this much and standing around all day...yea, not that important in my life. If the organizers keep making this level of money, hopefully people see it reflected in future cons, if not ..someones definitely pocketing some serious cash. I understand some celebrities charging for autographs, but some of them dont need the money or at the very least charging 10 bucks seems ok when you're already a millionaire.
They are coming to Miami now. I am disappointed to hear that the whole convention seems to be centered in getting in line to PAY for autographs and pictures of the cast....and the prices are not cheap! Rainn is charging 190 for an autograph and picture. Absurd!
This is honestly true for a LOT of conventions. Especially the part about general admission just being an opportunity to buy tchotchkes and stand in line.
You mean to tell me … Sitting there in front of that microphone telling me there exists an entire convention based around The Office U.S. ? People pay money to go to a 50,000 square foot building, for a single barely mediocre sit com ?
Rank rick and morty
Millennials: Boo hoo, I can't afford to buy a house.
Also Millennials: Here's $2,000 to get a signed photograph with Todd Packer from the Office!
🤣🤣 No hate on millenials or GenZer's from me, but they have and spend my money like no generation before them. I work with a younger group of people and they are cool for the most part, but I do have to hold back an eye roll sometimes when they start talking about how tough their lives are.
It's almost like people have different financial backgrounds. Some people are cutting back on groceries, others are paying for dumb shit.
Millenials also the ones that spend 4k on a computer to play a Harry Potter Game for 4 hours but think 8 bucks for going to the movies is a rip off.
The photos make it look like a Weight Watchers convention… No wonder you couldn’t get your hands on any food
lol. To be fair that was likely the left over food because it was served from 12-4 as advertised not all day.
Ok but who TF is "Sardar"
Chris is funny... doesn't wait in lines & cheap to where you don't wanna buy merch? Why even go to the convention? To stand there like a cheap a*s & watch everyone else get autos, photos & office stuff! That's what cons are! Spending $ and waiting lines! Oh and about less than a minute interaction with each actor... even less with photo ops!
Imagine going to this. Imagine spending your time drooling over celebrities
This sounds so cringey. Side note: I worked on a show at Rainn Wilson’s company (Soul Pancake). Very nice guy.
This is why I'm not fond of conventions.
I like how a guy went to the convention and 1) refused to stand in lines and 2) refused to spend money. Does that guy know what a convention is? He would have been better served wacking it to the Office in the hotel or something. I don't actually understand why any of these people did any of this but that Mulverine guy takes the cake. Complete lack of understanding of the event he paid quite a bit to attend so instead he just sulked. Amazing.
As someone who worked on this convention for hours a day months on end I’m very proud of what we accomplished. All my volunteers worked very hard to bring everyone the best experience. I appreciate the feedback. Look forward to seeing you at the next one
