  • Don't take it to a shop, do it yourself! This video shows a method of flushing and replacing engine coolant in a sport motorcycle. Although a 2003 ZX6R was used for this demonstration, the process is similar for all liquid cooled motorcycles. Learn from my mistakes and confidently tackle this job at home!

Just changed my coolant. I removed the hoses connected to the radiator and a bunch of the old coolant came out as well. I flushed three times with distilled water. I ended having to buy another container of engine ice. I used about a quarter of it.

Good point, any low places in the lines will trap coolant. The more you can remove before flushing with water and cycling the engine the better. I also ended up needing a second container of engine ice to top things off after a few heat cycles. Thanks for the comment!

I thought taking the 4 piece fairing set off my R6 was bad enough trying to get to the reservoir, but to have to remove/lift up the tank? Damn. Thanks for posting. I've always wanted an 03/04 636

To be honest I would rather deal with the fuel tank. I had on 03 R6 a while back and the way they designed the belly pan to fit together under the bike gave me nightmares. lol

At 2:42 what’s that little clear jug you have pinched off to your hose?

I'm honestly not sure what that's called, but it's OEM. Has always been hanging right there.
