- The sixth consecutive year of my All Seasons of Career Mode videos on the F1 games takes us now to F1 2021. We've seen driver transfers before and the ability to manage your own team. But F1 2021 does bring with it Icon drivers for the first time ever. So how will a decade of F1 pan out when the very best drivers from the past and present, as well as some of the lowest rated drivers in F1 and F2, are all vying for the same 22 seats?

Interesting you mention Verstappen having super high demands... because I was able to sign him for Season 3. And while I'd set the acclaim rate to increased for everyone, it's still interesting I managed to sign him fairly early. My guess as to why his demands were so crazy was because he'd won 4 titles across the span of your career mode, therefore jacking up his acclaim (and by extension his demands) to unreasonable levels

In a My Team career mode which I did, Max Verstappen won the championship with Red Bull (either season 2 or 3) and when left for Williams (the worst team on the grid). In my current driver career mode he’s racing for Mercedes (I think the 5th best).
when are you doing reserve grid races
Whenever I do career modes I never get crazy driver transfers and about 98 percent of the time the title contenders were only red bull and Mercedes. I wish I had all the crazy transfers and title contenders but I never get them

Verstappen almost never leave Red Bull unless you as the driver is taking Red Bull spot and is too expensive to keep Max. Ive gotten from Ferrari to Red Bull having Red Bull replace Verstappen and Perez with someone from F2. With that said Ive gotten Merchedes and Mclaren trading lineup and Bottas to Ferrari
In one of my career modes Raikkonen retired at the end of season 1 and then went to Alpine for season 2

Season 1 is almost identical to real life 2020 season
Please don't sign a 2nd driver for your team then you will have the reserve driver Arron Barnes who is 25 rated and see what he can do in the maxed out car

So, all in all, the transfer system has not really improved from F1 2020, especially in the latter seasons? And the same can be said about the development system? Well...
I wonder if there's any way to combine F1 2019's transfer system (with drivers moving based on performances or reputation or teams looking for stronger drivers) with the money system in F1 2021 or even next year's F1 game. If Codies reached out to the community [especially someone like Nathan] to allow for us to test the career mode features while in development, a lot more feedback could be given about things that affect the myteam/driver career mode in the long run.
The one thing I liked about F1 2019 compared to F1 2020 was, the lower teams had chances to outdevelop other better teams and reach the front of the pack, even if it was briefly. The development system would often shake the field up quite a bit, and even though it would stagnate towards the end with the maxed cars, any regulation change could allow for huge shifts in the pecking order. We don't really see the same thing in F1 2020 nor 2021. How come?
It's weird that F1 2019, despite having such team car development and crazy driver transfers, is the only one where there was clear logic as to why it happened. I also miss the fact the team pecking order could change. Either Codemasters don't massively care for that side of career mode or (and I've suspected this for a long time, hence the lack of longevity to F1 2016's career mode) that Codies don't really test the career mode at all.
10 is just too short me I was really hoping for 12-13 minimum from EA

I think the way to get the craziest driver transfers should be to lower the driver acclaim and increase he team acclaim. Since then more teams would be able to meet more drivers requirements. I haven't tested that though but logically that should be the case.
Why is Esteban Ocon so bad in this game? As an Ocon fan it’s so annoying this game hates him so much
I know what you mean, took him until season 3 to win a race. He was signed for Mercedes as well after Bottas retired in season 2

It's just not dynamic, the best teams will have the best fully upgraded car over the slowest car in the beginning being upgraded fully. Have unlimited upgrades, higher upkeep costs to keep them at their best, regulation changes shouldn't mean going through that same shitty research and development thing again with a stupid limit, young drivers being off pace massively needs to be revamped, historical stats that keep prestige of the team, tier system, etc etc and etc... This is just off the top of my head. There is so much potential. The other EA sports series have flaws of the opposite at times than what we see here. Most of them have to do with the currency yet here you have too much you can't spend on.

If by destroying the transfers you mean making them less interesting then I suppose you're correct. But the reason I signed only Icon drivers was because it was a good opportunity to see how active the driver market is without player interference. I signed plenty of drivers in my F1 2020 career playthrough and F1 2021 gave me the chance to do the exact opposite.
