8hr classes can boost ur attributes. You can also boost ur attributes while doing "study with a friend" encounter in the library. You can use gold notebooks to increase ur attribute points (gold notebook gives 60 attribute points) :)
Hey little tip on the friendships for newcomers Rowan and Penny each have scavenger hunt events. In year two they're the only ones, so before more people with them unlock that's an easy way to up those friendships a bit every few days while spending nothing.
I am in year 2, and to my surprise I missed the option to ask for advanced transfiguration from Professor McGonagall and also I couldn't be honest to Flitwick because my knowledge was level 7! How annoying. What are the best ways to grind without events? I really hate missing dialogue options. Also is it better to ignore the main story to grind stats or is it better to do the main story asap?
omg same! but what if i am in a middle of a tlsq and i don’t have enough attributes? i’m in year three and during the animagus side quest i lost ten house points from snape. it does show me the recommended attributes, but tlsqs are “time limited side quests”, so i won’t have enough time to increase my attributes.

Chapter 2, between task 1 and 2. When speaking with Lucius Malfoy, he asks why you want to find Slughorn, and the answer "Because I want to help Andre" requires a friendship level of 10 with Andre.

i was convinced i was "maxing" the game and was doing everything right but it seems i progressed to year 2 too early (my courage is lvl 4). any advice on how to slow down and get more attribute points without progressing the story??
Doing extra classes is the standart way. Best done together with events for extra rewards. Like right now with house pride - just keep doing 8h classes, or study sesions, as they are called, as they they are not part of the story.

When doing 8hr classes do I still need to spend the energy points on the stars or do you just leave it and let it run out? I've just started so don't know what I'm doing yet. Do you have a choice between using energy to end the class or letting the time run out and that will also finish the class?
Classes have a minimum star count you need to reach to pass, but if you don't get all of the stars, the total sum of rewards is much smaller. If you're trying to finish a Time Limited Side quest or simply trying to progress in the story, you Might as well save the energy and only do the minimum, but when doing classes, it's within your best interesēt to do the whole thing, because grinding (doing repeatedly) them is how you'll be increasing your attributes, earning extra coins, gaining XP and essentially level up your character.

It is a big problem in year 1. If the story doesn't ask higher attributes from you at the moment, then don't stress too much. I've listed the highest attributes required, and that Ussually means by the end of the school year. If you really need a boost, then buying clothes from the shop will give you attributes.
