This was a live performance on MTV’s “120 Minutes”, the alternative music show which aired Sunday nights midnight to 2AM. My husband was the producer and this performance was one of the most special to us in a decade of great live performances in the 90s. Victoria Williams is such a very special person and artist.
Thanks for posting that! Please pass along my heartfelt thanks to your husband - I would anxiously await those live performances, more than anything else, on 120 Minutes. There were countless jems to see and hear, at the time, and ony wish I had had cable access and my vcr, a couple of years earlier, so as to catch more than I did, at the time. A shame that "golden age", of sorts, has passed. Best! "What's for Afters"
Wow!! I love this song. I was introduced to it by my friend at my best friends death. Sung by Eddie vedder. Moved me and so glad to find this when I searched up the writer! How beautiful. Beautiful words and song.
This is awesome by both artist. It’s in the category of great originals and great remakes like: All Along the Watchtower, Blinded by the Light, Pretty Woman, Because the Night…… Great laid back originals. Great rocking remakes.
This is amazing. Must learn the fiddle part. Oh yeah this touches my soul in such a beautiful way! Who hasn't drank it down and passed it around? How has this never been written before. Beyond beautiful thank you woman.
The line makes me think of my childhood friends who have since passed. We always did that, especially in the cold Northeast winter. Often ginger brandy.
Surfing for months the many different versions of this song, starting of course from the Pearl Jam tribute, which is superb. Then, I came across this version, which I really like for the little natural imperfections. To me this is the best live from Victoria Williams.

I just live her and feel honored to see her and Mark in a very small concert setting. She is amazing.
I love this version, but what Eddie and the guys did with is beyond beautiful.

Victoria has such a wonderful voice... Such a beautiful song. She can also lay claim that Pearl Jam asked to cover this Gem....
There's a time and space when you eventually learn your favourite song is a Victoria Williams cover.

Far more moving than most 2.5 hour movies. Great song!

I get the feeling that Vic's not just following the instructions in the songwriter's rulebook here.

@@vascosaldanha602 kinda sad she has to background vocals to her own song
@@t-rozbenouameur5304well since it was the first time her song was being released to the public, maybe she felt the need to.
Hearing her spell 'l-o-i-t-e-r-i-n-g- a-llowed' is so oddly satisfying
Nice to know I’m not the only one lol
