No such thing as North and South during that time, despite popular belief, North and South didn't arise from the Shoe War. There was plenty of Raza from Southern California that organized against the Eme in 68. It had nothing to do with region. It had more so to do with ideology. North and South didn't kick off until after Cheyenne's passing in 72 when false propaganda was used to smear the organization as solely a northern California group, that was never the case. The Norteno movement kicked off in prison in the 80s and slowly made its way out the the calles but all varrios didn't fully fall in line until the mid to late 90s. The Sur was similar in that they weren't an official thing out in the calles until 92 during the No Drive Bys and taxing campaign, hence why some varrios like Maravilla resisted and chose not to ride as Surenos until a decade later. Upstate was not official until the early 2000s despite Southsiders banging Sur well before that, many weren't tapped in and on board officially until the early 2000s. Despite popular belief, North and South is still fairly new compared to the barrios that were already here decades before they ever heard of a rivalry between North and South
@@robertgonzales5038 but Southern Cali as a whole didn't fall in line until 92 with many varrios resisting during the 90s. So it's unfair to call people Surenos when during the same time, many familianos were from the South yet they were not Surenos. i.e. Tarzan de Pomona 12 Street Sharkies who repped his varrio proudly until his passing yet was never a Sureno.
@@robertgonzales5038Yes they were born in Mexico, raised in East LA, moved to Pico for a couple years, & then moved up to San Jo when they were about 15 yrs old. Straight gangsters too. Horseshoe even made front page on San Jose Mercury News about a HUGE "brawl" they got into at the Jack N the Box on the east against the biggest hood on the east. Not sure what hood tho.. In these pics at Biebrach Park ( VHS ) members of VST are seeing with VHS. This was rare to see VST there. Randazzo (VHS) was friends with VST and later South Side Ganga. They only had ( day use privilege’s )😂
Dosnt really matter who’s the oldest tbh all that matters is San Jo is Norte territory and always has been . Surenos snuck into the west while the Horseshoe and the Mob were at war . The low income housing is full of immigrant families which make it easy to recruit and is the only reason the sur still holds a presence. Easy to gang bang in Northern Territory when your gang don’t require you to be outside . San Jo is big and gentrification plays a huge part in the struggle of being a gang in San Jo also💯
The whole thing about the low income housing if full of immigrants was a thing back then now days you have chicanos, African Americans etc.. now days alot of the sur hoods have dudes that can’t even speak Spanish lol that I didn’t even know who’s who most of this youngster on both sides look the same but yeah back then most sur hoods had mostly paisas. your right tho San Jose well always be Norte territory.
So what you’re saying and by your logic, the SS Homies were smart enough and took advantage of the conflict that VHS and The mob were having in order to plant their flag. I’m curious if the SS homies used the same tactic to plant their flag in other northern cities 🤔. There’s plenty of info and pictures on the web that show señores from down south congregating all over northern Califas since the late 60s and have been doing business up north ever since.
I think SS in my town (Oakland) mostly died out due to several reasons: 1) Norte and BB pressed them from all sides during the peak of the gang wars in the mid 00s 2) Gentrification made it more expensive to live in Oakland (so paisas who were south siding couldn't afford to move in) 3) When Mexican paisas mostly stopped coming to Oakland they were replaced by indigenous Guatemalan people and in their culture it isn't an automatic that the kids are just gonna start claiming "Mexico 13." I've noticed that most of the Guatemalan kids tend to do well in school and don't get easily sucked into gangs, North, South or BB.
But back then it wasn’t considered a sure no or originally a sureno varrio or homie hood it was All chicano shit back then till the 80s but ong a lot of Older Chicanos Cholos or homies or homeboy hood have originally started with people from down south moving up north and developing n help start hood and varrios here with Chicano’s born here

Horse shoe is not rhe oldest neighborhood to come out of sj they're 1 of the top 3 oldest in san jo. but in northern California they are definitely not the oldest and the fact you kept saying oldest "norteno" hood just doesn't fit because none of thesehoods that were here before the 80s were really norteno hoods let alone sureno hoods maybe they had certain members that were coming home from the pen that were starting to identify as either or but as a whole i doubt they were labeling they're hood as that. Correction, VHS WSSJ developed out of the Chicano community surrounding Del Monte Cannery. And North and South were strictly a prison thing that resulted after the death of Cheyenne and false propaganda spread by informant Mundo who takes credit for instigating what resulted in Cheyenne's death and the slur "farmero" to isolate the organization to Northern California which was never true. The Norteno movement didn't become official in prison until the 80s and the barrios didnt fall in line until the mid to late 90s. Surenos werent official until 1992 during the taxing and no drive bys campaign. Upstate wasnt official until possibly early 2000s when Upstate Sureno became the official title and fall in line unlike previously where they were just wearing blue and gang banging.
With that said, you can not call anyone a Norteno or Sureno on the calles especially during the 70s and 80s because those ideals how we see them today were not fully developed. They were prison movements that didn't really hit the streets until decades later despite popular belief.

Like I heard supposedly Tortilla Flats 14 n Hayward was Originally started by The tortilla flats 13 from Compton but tortilla flats in Hayward first was brought up in the late 70s supposedly the story is Compton people moved up north to the Bay Area in Hayward and moved into the south Hayward area n started a tortilla flats gangs with Chicano’s from Hayward I heard
Just rumors people start, just because they hear of a neighborhood called Tortilla Flats in Hayward and then they think they can make up stories. Those aren’t even the only towns with a neighborhood called that, there’s even a book called Tortilla Flats based on Monterey.
I ran across your video about Horse Shoe , I grew up in Pico Rivera and HS didn’t start until the late 60s same as Pico Nuevo , the other Neighborhoods have an earlier beginning but where not here to talk about them. HS is a very small hood the only time they had some numbers was in the middle 70s but they dropped because most of the recruiting was being done in JR high school and HS would get jumped because other local gangs controlled the schools and the recruiting, you couldn’t go ti school if you claimed HS without getting beat up so no one would get in until they dropped out or graduated school then they claimed there hood. I knew a lot of them but that neighborhood almost gone not too many left . Gangs in LA county’s are not as big like before although there still there and doing their thing, and yes HS started in Pico and a family moved up north and started it up over there , I never thought it would turn into a Norteno hood but it’s all good it is what it is .
You seem to know lots of inside information (false) like you been there before. First off when this started ( HORSESHOE ) late 60' s it was deep not only Jr HS there was homies that were out of school already as far as getting beat up on I don't know where you got your info you're ( probably an undercover enemy) 🤔🤨🤨 HS might of been small in numbers but every scuffle HS got involved in they always came out on top except once . People that got out of HS there reasons were not because they were young, ( there was also members in elementary school ) , they got on when the banging started to WEAK I'm thinking . Thats what happens when gangs let anyone in I think I was good when banging started it allowed to weed out the wannabes , I don't know what you've been smoking 🚭 but nobody ever got jumped in school if you're referring to the fight at North Park Jr HS the HORSE GANG beat the crap out of the DUMP . I know personally. If you comment be sure you're saying the TRUTH!!🤨🤨

They from los bro
@@pelonbp209 That hurt yo feelings ? 😂🤡

A lot of this info is incorrect, but you acknowledge that. Whoever your source is did not do a good job

You forgot about Vickys Town I heard Horse Shoe would bounce back and forth

Facts! 👍
You don't know WTF your talking about ain't none of us got beat up we held our own for being the smallest hood and fucked up a whole lot of people
You seem to know lots of inside information (false) like you been there before.
It’s old but no the oldest. In Sanger, Varrio Sanger 13 & Varrio Chankla 14 been around since the 1960’s BEFORE the South North split, I heard some Stockton northern hoods been around since the 30’s too, same with SJ and SF
