  • 2025 is here and I have to make changes with how the state of the gig economy has changed in San Francisco. The apps are not as busy as it used to and there's increasing competition with more drivers on the road and more robotaxis in the streets . I have decided to add a new delivery app to stay busier and in the afternoons and take advantage of the healthcare subsidy in California.

Hey brother, hope you’ve been good. I’ve noticed that a lot of the major gig gaps have seen an increase in the number of customers and revenue but the drivers such as ourselves see a decrease in how busy it is. I think this is caused by the fact that they are recruiting many drivers, the more drivers they have the more power they have, they know what they are doing

@@ZavHustles absolutely correct. We have seen historic inflation of goods and services including the price of cars and energy. Yet our fares are decreasing instead of rising with inflation. Even here in SF I'm seeing fares averaging in the low 20s/hr and even 16-19/hr which is lower than the California prop22 rates which means drivers have higher rates of prop 22 adjustments which is unheard of for rideshare but common for deliveries.
I've changed my strategy and I work when it's busier and I still avoid taking trips under 30/hr which means when I see most trips under 30/hr it's time to go home or I will switch to door dash or GrubHub and my new gig with amazon.
If rideshare fares keeps getting lower then the quality of cars and drivers on the road will decline. Maybe competition with robotaxis will help human drivers in the near term.

@@RandyLe4zero8 uber ev bonus is $210 for 200 trips in a month. That’s like $52/week compared to Lyft. For 2025 Lyft EV bonus is now $100/week for 50 trips.

@@RandyLe4zero8 depends on the market bro. If I went to Berkeley or Oakland I can reach 50 trips in 2-3 days as there’s no waymo there. But those trips in East Bay are like averaging $15-20/hr which I won’t take. It’s like taking low fares and then the ev bonus will just make up the difference. For $22-27hr/ I will deliver for Amazon lol and no butts in my seats.

Thanks for this. Do you think Trump and his immigration policies will help rideshare drivers?

@@Tch5802 I believe if there are less illegitimate persons on the gig apps there will be more opportunities for legal drivers/contractors on the app. It’s like someone is taking an opportunity from someone that is legally here. Uber has increased their verification process on the app by taking a selfie to make sure I’m the driver on the profile so that’s a start while Lyft has not done the same verification.
