Thank you so much. We had a Kitchenaid technician come out for a service call and said with out looking behind the control panel or circuit board he could not fix it. Call him back if we got the oven door unlock, he come back on another service call, probably costing us a $900-$2000 repair. The oven door was locked because the power went off while self cleaning. I followed your instructions, took out the thermal fuse, took the part to appliance part store, had them test it with an ohms reader the thermal fuse was bad. Purchase another thermal fuse, followed your directions and the oven is fixed and working .
I cannot thank you enough 👏🏻

How did you open the door? Ours blow while the door was locked.

Such helpful, step-by-step guidance! I followed these to similar success with my Whirlpool-made IKEA single oven. The fuse is clearly an Achilles heel for these; that's the fourth one I've replaced!

Me, too. Jad oven at 500° for a long time with pizza stone, then left door open to cool after use. I'll never leave door open again.

Thank you for the video, very well done. We have the same oven and did a self clean on the bottom oven. Somewhere during the cycle the entire oven has shut off. The breaker was not tripped. The display is not showing anything. The bottom oven lock is till on. Any advice or insights for a repair?

The link you have to purchase the fuse takes me to another fuse that’s white? Do they not make the green ones anymore?

Be self cleaned the lower oven recently and now it won’t heat up. The upper oven still works fine. Do you suspect it’s probably still the thermal fuse?

I would connect the ground wire prior to re-installing the signal wire.

If the unit is unplugged, the order you reattach the wires won't matter, but in general you're right, it is best to attach the ground wire first.

any suggesstions as to where my thermal fuse might be located? it's not in the spot behind the display panel.

On some ovens the thermal fuse is on a backplate behind the oven. Much more of a pain to access.

Our KitchenAid oven control panel got very hot on the outside like 140° and then the oven shut down completely. It is dead and won't turn on at all even after flipping the circuit breaker switch outside. Does this sound like a blown thermal fuse issue like shown in the video?

Could be. But it could also be caused by the thermal disc style fuse in the back of the unit.

If the oven was self-cleaning so one of the doors is locked how do you get the door open to access 2 of the 4 screws?

Kirk Walker Did you ever get an answer? Or figure it out. I have the same issue.

    • @kwalker629

@@Reddrok_overland I had to angle a screwdriver in fron the side and twist it around in a wide circle to engage the screw head enough to slowly turn it. (Not perpendicular to the plane of the wall.) It took a while but eventually they came out. They are only short wood screws.
You can then get the oven out, replace the fuze, reapply power,.and the door unlocks.
