We recently bought a £1000 show car on eBay in terrible condition. Today, we're gonna let Richard Hammond inspect it, get its show car features working again, and then take it to one of the biggest car shows of the year.

I've got no issue with these guys doing what they can to stay in the limelight really. Collins, Hammond, Tavarish etc have all done their bit to provide quality content over the years.

I've never seen Richard Hammond this disappointed.
But equally, he understood the reasoning behind it. Recreating the sort of car you loved as a kid, no matter how stupid. He might not understand the car, but he gets the motivation

For most people born in the late 80s/early 90s we all remember richard for being kinda 30 forever. I mean he has made it this far quite well compared to jeremy, but it is still amazing how young he makes Ed and Will look, they are like elementary school kid looking compared to the Hamster.
I'm thankful for every day the world gets with him after the number of accidents he has had over the years. I still remember the day the news came out about his drag car crash and all the news coverage where it seemed like he was a goner.
So glad he gets to grow old with his family doing what he loves.
It also blows my mind that TopGear is actually already oldskool. When you go back and watch one of your favourite episodes you really realise what a different time it was. Crazy!
This is why I love RUclips, there’s no corporate bullshit, so anyone can appear on anyone else channel! The AutoAlex universe crossing with the drivetribe universe, crossing with the tavarish universe, crossing with the Matt Armstrong universe etc etc etc. one day there’s just going to be the biggest RUclipsr meet up at the freedom factory or the desperado resort.
well for the most part there’s no corporate bollocks but igwym. It’s kinda why I think yt will last longer than TikTok or Insta or Snap because it doesn’t feel as universally formulated which is kinda the beauty of it. Even though it has its problems it’s still at its core the most free form of video expression on the internet which is great. (Also the lesser size of trend on RUclips is good as it doesn’t mean everyone tries to make the same content)

I hated the whole Max Power type cars back in the day. I was 18 in 2002 and this stuff just seemed everywhere. But now I can look at the FTO and laugh. It really was a brilliant time to be young. Nice job guys, but I'd love to see it be road legal again and reunited with Tina
I was 24 and cheap E30s, Sierras, Carltons were more my thing - fibreglass was what I was using to get through MOTs 😅

When everyone else was adding 16 speakers in the boot and lights under the sills, I stripped the Capri of any weight I could, painted it black and slapped minilites on it. I got laughed at when I turned up to the local car meets 😂
Tina is now pushing 50, weighs 22 stone, has 6 kids by 4 different dads and lives on a council estate somewhere near Fingringhoe Essex...... Joking, but you never know! 🤣

I had that on Red Dwarf t-shirt in the mid 1990s.. I wore it when I went to the States in 1996 and got questioned about it wherever I wore it! The best response was in Denny's diiner in Miami Beach, the server asked me what it meant. After I'd explained he said that he would go research it. I'll never know if he did as we flew back to New York later that day!

The purple 306's interior was done by dclass, the same people that do MSO interiors for Mclaren. Must have cost a fortune back in the day.

Always loved these on Gran Turismo when I was growing up.
Loved the crazy camera work to the DnB dancing. All 90's videos were shot in that distracting way, and it's now iconic!

Not sounding too much of a nerd, but I'm so glad you where able to fix up the white original PS2 that came with the car. That white console was part of a rare "special edition" racing pack that came with the Gran Turismo games that I think fits the FTO much more than just a standard one 😂
It's a standard silver one, not one of the rare ones, though.

i was a teenager in the 90s and bought max power and revs all the time lol, some awesome cars and bodykits back then, a lot of unique ones.

I'm from 2000 and remember going to the Racing Expo car show somewhere near me. I think it was one of the first shows I attended as a child, I probably was around 8 years old. It was all brilliant builds like the FTO and Peugeots with 24 inch chrome wheels and so on. Attended the event this year again and I've never been happier. Edwin's right, this IS cool!

This brings back so many memories. I was also too young to drive back then, but my sisters boyfriend at the time had a Lambo-Doored VW Polo 6N. Was always fun to turn up and use the doors and "look cool" haha.

That's so sick that it has a PS2 with Gran Turismo 4, and Underground 2. Those 2 game's are masterpiece's especially in today's world. Hell I wanna hook up my PS2 to my SUV, but have it connected to a separate battery.
I remember having such a love for these cars in early 2000s
I live about a mile from where that show took place, was brilliant seeing & hearing the cars coming & going. The amount that were broken down around the area keeping the AA and RAC busy when the show ended was mad.
OMG, the car is 110k GBP right now. Can't wait to see how much it goes for in 6 days 22 hours

Everybody hates on these cars until they invest a bit into them and discover why we used to love them so much. We need more episodes like these, sooo entertaining, so much nostalgia.
For anyone interested, the car went for £3,501.00 on eBay.
Despite being into classics and American cars now, I'll always have a soft spot for these motors, as a 12 year old in 2002, growing up in Essex all i wanted was a Nova with a body kit (I used print off pics from body kit/mod websites and take them to school to show my mate, no way i was getting hold of a max power, haha) used to go straight to the alloy and stereo section in halfords when my dad picked up parts! Ended up with a Mk2 fiesta, dropped it, alloys, fart box, sony xplod etc. Many adventures in that car.

Btw old consoles usually have old crusted thermal paste/pads. It's probably worth replacing those to prevent overheating/a lot of fan noise.

Brilliant video again, love this channel. All those cars at the end were the shit I grew up with. Every car I used to draw (including the few that featured in fast car mag competitions) had TSW Venoms
this made my day, i`m 40 so this car tuning era was huge in my younger days, we need to bring this style back , everything nowadays is too clean and boring
