I’ve hunted for three seasons where the boys wouldn’t let me touch my calls. No matter how many other videos I watched or how much I “practiced,” I could never match the tones. After watching this video and rewinding it four times every time you said something, I’m so much more confident and actually sound like I know what I’m doing. Great video, bubba!
This is, without a doubt, the best video I've watched! Extremely informative and breaks it down. Experienced caller or beginner? Watch this demonstration of several different calls. Pick a call to work on then move onto the next call. But they're all right here. Thank you very much for taking the time to put this out there for us!!
Being new to duck hunting I've watched several videos on calling. This one has been the most informative. Breaking down each type of call made it much easier to understand. Thank's for the great video!
Thanks for explaining it.... Most videos don't break it down this far ....I m a first year duck Hunter.... Your video helped me a bunch.... Thanks for spending the time on this topic
I just shared it with a couple of my hunting buds as it it is not as realistic being the only one calling. I still learned alot from this vid. One of the better ones I have seen.
@@BackFortyTV question for you brother- I have a mallard "yo sista" call from Primos. My tones are definitely different than yours and I guess I'm wondering if I'm studying the wrong call, tune whatever you wanna call it. Also, could you recommend the next duck call to purchase if I have a standard mallard call. Thank you kindly again!
@@seproseer1 primos calls take a lot of air to run them. Always been one of the ones I didn’t like. Nothing against the company, just not my forte. Look me up on Facebook @ Back Forty Outdoors and send me a message. I’ll be more than happy to help get you going.
@@seproseer1 not a problem at all! A Haydel DR-85 was my first call. They’re good calls and not too expensive. I will start next month turning my calls also. Let me know if you need anything else. I’d be happy to help.
My throat is getting sore after practicing this method of cutting off the beginning of the call with my diaphragm. I’m guessing after practicing for a while that will go away? Your calling is the most natural sounding I have found on RUclips, so just trying to get as close to your sound as possible. Also it is very hard for me to get a good cadence down. To sound natural I have to do my cadence very slow. Is it something like the feed call, where the more I practice the faster I’ll be able to string my notes together?
Thanks for the kind words! And yes, the more you practice, the faster you will get. It took me a long time and many hours of practice. I’ve never had my throat really get sore, but I’m sure like singers exercise their vocal chords, yours will get stronger. I really hope the video helps and I’ll answer whatever questions you have the best I can.

Where do we purchase your duck calls?

I’ve been practicing every day for a while now and still can’t do it I sound like a chicken clucking
Lol. Keep on practicing brother! You’ll get it.
do you hum at all???
Barely any. Just enough to not sound super high pitched. Some folks put a little too much voice and it sounds like a grunt.
