This was a fun, cute video. If I built something like this in my world, it would ring only at sunrise, work time for villagers, end of work time, and sunset.
That would be a really nice idea, as there are the most important time of a minecraft day (rather than marking every hour). I think rings at the time you can sleep in the bed is also really important - a sleep detector.
I also thought a delay between rings would it much more pleasing, but the problem is a Minecraft hour is only 50 seconds long so you can't have much delay or the bell would ring nearly constantly.
Mango, I've binged a lot of your videos since I found you and this was my favourite lol. Loved the farmer taking a break. Also, yes, definitely liking this for a tutorial on an upgraded one !!
2 quick fixes: first turning it off can be easily achieved with an and gate on the dailight sensor ofc, and you should be able to create one that can at least reset easily, but might take a bit more space, even though it wouldn't be complex. One that always works properly even when people leave chunks might be harder to achieve though.
This is so awesome, but I think maybe a mofified version that rings once at the start of the villager work day to let you kmow you can start the job cycle and two rings to let you kmow the work day is over... possibly incorp something I seen Iskall85 build on Hermitcraft VI where a light comes on and off for the work day. Ilmango, Awesome build as always you are literally a redstone genius!
As soon as I heard of this feature, I thought of hooking the bell up to tripwire hooks to automatically send villagers into hiding during zombie/ illager raids or general hostile mob presence. Given I don’t have time myself to actually try this, I’d love to see someone implement it.
A cool feature would be that if you put a clock into an item frame and use a comparator output it will give signal strength based on the time of day. This could be extended to other things like a compass could give output based on the players distance to it. Would give strong uses to relatively useless items.
Yay! Someone actually made a clocktower! I'd been contemplating making one also, but I'm not good at redstone, so >.< Bonus points for getting the bell to ring the different number of times. My idea had it play a little noteblock song first, like maybe at 12pm, before ringing the bell 12 times. You know what song I had in mind...I'm sure everyone does.
Great idea - really adds to any village build. But i will go crazy listening to that every minute. I would like to see a setup where it only rings a few (2-3) times at sunrise, sunset and perhaps at noon.
I want to make a working belltower for my german/austrian/swiss inspired mountain village and your accent makes this tutorial 1000 times better for my intentions
Would be super interested to see some kind of timer/daylight sensor combination design for a 24 hour clock that could always tell which hour it currently is regardless of leaving the chunks or players sleeping like you mentioned. I think it's technically impossible to make it completely accurate since the daylight sensor output doesn't actually change between 11am - 1pm and between 8pm - 4am and some outputs are exactly the same like 8am and 3pm, but it should still be theoretically possible to use the current value and then detect whether the signal strength is increasing or decreasing to detect whether it's the beginning of the day or the end of the day. Then, use timers for mid-day and mid-night when the daylight sensors stay the same and you could theoretically get a pretty good estimate of the time all the time regardless of chunks or sleeping. I'm in the process of giving it a shot myself but have hit a bit of a block - would love to see how you might tackle it!!
Awesome build! For the next version, it might be better to get the bell to correspond with more usefull times of the day (such as the start and end of work/trading time). That way, it has great use for including it in a villager trading hall!

You could have some delay between the individual rings, and/or play a little jingle before, like modern bell towers
I also thought a delay between rings would it much more pleasing, but the problem is a Minecraft hour is only 50 seconds long so you can't have much delay or the bell would ring nearly constantly.

you should add more space between the bell rings, maybe 1.2 seconds?
The hours already follow each other pretty fast, so maybe more time between rings would make it ring pretty much continuously
