As always very inspiring. After a small vacation I’m dreading going back to my job tomorrow. Your videos are what I need for motivation starting my own music side-hustle. I’m in the middle of developing and rehearsing a 1-2 hour set! 😊 Thanks man!
Another great video...I also do gigs and busking...I also do nursing homes...Im almost 70 now and have been doing this for 55 years ...keep going ...I look forward to you videos on a Monday...
Thank you so much for telling us not to undervalue what we do. I’ve been fighting this battle for years. I had a band for thirty-something years and my musicians always knew what I would be paying them.
Very informative and spot on. Love being able to look forward to a Monday. Thanks for the hard work putting these videos together. You are inspiring a lot of people to just get out there and do it. Every journey begins with that first step.
Thanks again Ben, always inspirational videos!! I live near Crawley and have seen quite a few buskers there, a whole range of abilities too but I believe they all share one thing in common, their courage to get out there and take the risk.
Thank you! I appreciate it. Stoked you're doing some open mics, definitely give busking a go when you can! I hear Aus has a pretty good scene for it too! 😃 🙌
I’ve always thought a wedding would fun to play background music for! Have you ever busked in Norwich? I’d love to see a video on it as I’m thinking of exploring busking there :)
I use a Zettle card reader! It's a good option because it has 'repeat pay function' which means you can set a transaction to reload automatically without having to touch it. It means you can just set it up and the beginning of the busk and leave it whilst you do your thing! 😀 🙌
It’s pretty much the same as the original except I ‘censor’ the second verse 🤣🙌🏻 so instead of ‘lack of sex’, I say ‘lack of this’ as if referring to playing music. Then I sing ‘I went to the shore, they said I was a bore’ - as if referring to playing down on the seafront 🤣 everything else stays the same 😊
Don't know about Europe since UK left the European Union. Busking in UK should be fine. Rodriguez y Gabriella (Brazilian I think) made their name in Ireland...busking.
I do know a few and I know of a few folks who have come here for a 'holiday' and spent the time busking. I think it would be very unlikely that you'd get in trouble, as long as you did some prior research! 😃 🙌
As a long-time busker who was not born in the UK, I have been asked a few times to show proof that I am legally allowed to work here. Busking is considered self-employment. It's not likely that you will be stopped unless you're causing a nuisance in some other way, for example playing too loud or for too long. If you are stopped you will probably get a fine. You could also have your gear confiscated, be thrown in jail, or be deported and denied entry into the country again. Again it's not likely you will be stopped, but it's not completely risk-free.
I know right! I'm so grateful to Mackie. I don't think I'd have figured out a way to get it to this quality without the Showbox! I edit in Adobe Premiere 😃 🙌
Oooooh! I thought John Lewis (which is the same company as Waitrose I believe) was a collective that gave its workers shares and ethical stuff like that. This is a turn up for the books! I hope John Lewis apologises to you, that’s not good corporate branding for them to fall foul or someone with a RUclips profile. I hope this gets back to them and someone at head office is sweating, seriously! Good on you for calling them out. As a musician, people, even people who value ‘workers’, often put us below that, which is outrageous when you think about it.
Woah! I didn't even know this! This is interesting eh... I was a little surprised when they told me I was out of budget! It is crazy how undervalued musicians can sometimes be. It always blows my mind! 🙌
Why don’t you try to perform in a space that’s a bit less open? I usually get more donations when I play in a smaller street where everyone that’s passing can easily approach me. When I played in a place more open like the one in this video the donations were more scarce. I’m almost certain it’s cause for someone to donate they would need to go out of their way to do so.
This is a good point and not one I've ever thought about actually! I'm going to have to watch out for the differences between narrow spaces and wider spaces! It makes sense that narrow is better, I've just never put that together! 😀🙌
@@AugustRadioProject Maybe it could be an idea for a future video. Thanks for the motivation. I started busking half a year ago to get money for my studies (also music related). It’s going well so far and I’m thinking of going full time soon. Much better than any other day job.

Fantastic! Always invaluable information and insights. Thank you August Radio 🤗
I appreciate it! 😃 🙌

It's so important eh! Good to see you in the comments Marshlander, hope you're well! 😃 🙌
Excellent 👌 😎 I now have all the gear and a little or no idea 😂 let's see how it goes.
Haha! Not a bad place to start... 😃 🙌
Living the dream Bully for you!

Thank you dude! 😀 🙌

Thank you! I appreciate it! Good ol' Crawley! The range and variety in busking is one of it's best qualities! 😃 🙌
Very informative vid - thanks Ben
Thank you! 😃 🙌
Another great episode Ben. Keep em coming!👍
Thank you!! 😃 🙌
Love your videos mate. I'm yet to actually busk having only done regular open mics. But I'm keen to have a go come summer time in Australia.
Thank you! I appreciate it. Stoked you're doing some open mics, definitely give busking a go when you can! I hear Aus has a pretty good scene for it too! 😃 🙌
@@AugustRadioProject it's a big place... like massive. So it's different all over I presume.
This is gold, mate! Share
Thank you! 😃 🙌
I went out yesterday and everything got drenched. Myself, my sign, my guitar case, my amp, everything
Oh no! This is the worst possible scenario... I've had it happen a few times! I hope you were able to dry off okay and nothing was damaged! 😃🙌
Excellent guide!
I appreciate it! 😃 🙌

I haven't yet been to Norwich but will be sure to pay a visit soon! I know several buskers who have played there and I've heard good things! 😃🙌
Another great video - thanks for sharing 😁🎸
Thank you! 😃 🙌
God bless you HARD homie. Such an encouragement you are

Hey dude! You've really inspired me to go busking next wk! What card reader do you use?

I do. Open mic night
Always great...
Appreciate it! 😃 🙌
but have you played a PARADE? I just played my first yesterday! LOL It was a hoot! Oh and I got paid $350 for a 20 minute performance on my own float.
Thats so rad! I have never played a parade but they sound like a good time 😃🙌🏻 stoked for you!
Would you mind if I could have your cover lyrics for Basket Case? I'd love to do it for busking! Love your work, its really helpful!

Love your chanel!! Do you know any buskers originaly from another country? Do you think i can get in trouble as a brazilian busking in europe?

Mate the audio recording on your videos now greatly improved thanks to that Mackie speaker. Where do you edit your videos? Davinci Resolve? 🙌
