I dont know if casting Arya was the best decision. if he's shown as a downtrodden character which is historically shunned(a common theme in all Pa Ranjith movies), then Arya was not the right person for that...Perhaps someone like Vishal would have been a much better fit, lean mean, vulnerable looking man.

Arya really look like beast, he justified his character well.
Though Raman decided to play with one hand, he thinks for a while and chosen left hand instead of right hand to demean kabilan. The subtle reference not noticed by many.
Since he's an orthodox boxer he's definitely gonna go with the lead left hand for straight and easy jabs but I also like your take on this

Exceptional movie characterization and choreography. Even the spectators in most of the sparing bouts created lot of emotions. Extraordinary movie.
