Man thats really sad actually sir... Im 27 years old and took machining in college for 5 or 6 months then dropped out to join the military did my time in service then got honorably discharged, My Dad and my grandpa was/are machinists grandpa passed away 2009 and after i got out of military service im now having some legal troubles i have a dui long story short.....dumb stupid desisions i made in my early 20s.....but anyhow I plan on getting back into machining sometime soon one day its in my blood and i couldnt see myself doing anything other than machining and I dont know everything and dont plan to know everything but i know basics of machining and this should be basics that they teach in shop class the first few weeks really a shame they dont teach it sadly basic things like this are not getting enough emphasis now a days in my opinion due to the fact that everything is moving to CNC now but their are some thingsthat are very valuable still in the "old way" with the manual machines in some shops your not always gonna have the fancy CNC mills and lathes i still appreciate the old bridgeport mills and old lathes and the quote "old timer" machinist and respect them very much so growing up my grandpa and father taught me many things about machining and i hope to pursue it in the future take care God bless :)

your father did a good job! Nice and clear. He could have shown what he was doing with the wrench’s as far as the adjustments were concerned, I know what he was doing but there are a lot of folks who don’t!

Get Dad to help with the videos; I know he is a bit camera shy but just show his hands and have him describe what he is doing, I used to be a masonry teacher and the hands and description is what does the job, thanks, Greg.

It always makes me happy when I hear that there are still Father / Son or Daughter small business like this. Have you guys tried the Lipton trick with the Indicol modified to accept Short Noga Arm?

I always liked tramming over a parallel. Sometimes a milling table can be bowed.

Also vital when using a Co-ax indicator!

I get the part about drilling, but I do not understand what a surface cannot be milled flat. Even if the end mill or any cutter is sitting at a large angle to to the table, all that happens at the end is one side of the end mill will be closer to the material than the other. Now if the angle is big, the resulting cut will series of sawtooth shaped groves, but they will all be identical. So how does the surface obtain a "dish" shape? No, I won't come back here to see if some answered, but ... I need to find an answer someplace. I am guessing this occurs with a single pass of the cutter at a slight angle off vertical. Then each cut would be slightly dished out and no matter how many passes one makes, even closely spaced, the surface would at best be an undulating mess.

@J R I really like his videos. It is a pity that he did not say what is the problem, lets hope he will come back.
Hope he is OK. Willem South Africa.

@J R We are still in business and really things have picked up to the point that we are working crazy hours. We really want to get some more videos posted in the near future. We really enjoy making the videos but our current camera that I have mentioned in the past and the current way we edit seems to take so long. We will get a handle on these issues and get somethings posted, we have some video that we have been shooting of projects that we can share soon.
